David takes a trip to Derry City Football Club, the team his Grandfather Archie played for back in 1932. David discovers that in 1938 Archie sustained serious injuries, which ended his career. He also discovers that Archie had married a local beauty queen called Nellie Blair.
Famous for playing the time-traveller Dr Who, David Tennant has decided to abandon the Tardis and investigate his own history.
David was born in Bathgate, a post-industrial town between Glasgow and Edinburgh, in 1971. His father, Alexander McDonald, is a minister in the Church of Scotland. David changed his second name, as many actors do. Tennant being inspired by The Pet Shop Boy's Neil Tennant.
Beginning his historical investigations by focusing on his father's side of the family, David quickly discovered that the paper trail goes cold relatively early on. This means David's hope of tracing his family back to the time of the clans would take a huge amount of research, so he instead turned his attention to the ancestry of his maternal grandfather, Archie McLeod.

I swear his accent is so much stronger when he's in Scotland and Ireland... lol. I love it though.

I think it's more that it's weaker when he's in England, and it's normal when he's in Scotland

Yeah most Scots have to ‘dilute’ their accent to make it more understandable when talking to non-scots.

Interesting, David! I find ancestry very interesting, as I see you did in that video too. I think it's just knowing that previous members of your family have had a life on the exact place your standing on that gives you the feeling of excitement. Especially when you know someone that knew people like your grandparents well.

The club is called Derry City, not _london_ Derry City.

"Derry City's home ground in Londonderry in Northern Ireland" - that sentence sums up perfectly how ridiculous it is to prefix London onto and already fully formed name that has historical significance. Londonderry means absolutely nothing and only signifies colonialism.

@Colloquial Soliloquy oh so we're favouring the 'natives'? Protestants were correct in fearing a unified Ireland looking at the treatment of Protestants in the south, not that I'm taking anytging away from what happened to catholic in Northern Ireland which has thankfully been remedied. Northern Ireland is a state which respects both sides now like the south, and should probably stay that way since a united Ireland would inevitably lead to a cultural death to the unique culture of the North
