He said he wants to play one more year before he retires, I think he said something about wanting to play one more year in another team here in the US. NYFC is not giving him a new contract.

You mustn't have been paying attention. NYCFC dominated both playoff games. They were toothless in front of goal, lack energy in the final third but they dominated Atlanta. Atlanta was happy to counterattack when they can but let nyc play the ball.
