A true Rangers legend. Being a Celtic fan he did break my heart on more than one occassion but you could only stand and admire the man's skill and ability. That's god got his wingers, Jinky on the right and Davie on the left. Sleep tight lads
Im a Hibs fan for my sins, however im a football fan first, And I appreciate great players whatever club they play for.. Im lucky to say I watch this man at his best and still believe he is the best player ever to grace our stage in scotland
Not ashamed to admit I cried when I heard Coop had died. Roasted my heart on a few occasions when he ripped my beloved Celtic to pieces but God was he a joy to watch. If it had been a Brazilian who had scored that goal in the Dryborough Cup we'd still be raving about it. RIP Davie Cooper..Scotland and Rangers footballing GENIUS!
Respect from a bear it's such a sad thing but probably only thing we have mutal Respect our teams heros that are sadly not hear anymore so many greats of the game from all our Scottish teams appreciate it . Hope all our heros are still having derby's in the clouds 🌟🖤
Irish man here. Came across his name in a Twitter thread of peoples favourite players. RU-vidd it. Holy shit how have I not heard of this man until now. What a player
@@jamieaitken9279 I know well about the talent you’ve produced down the years from Dalgleish to Law to Jimmy Johnston. I know my football you could say, which is why I’m surprised if never heard of Cooper. Looks unbelievable
Ruud gullit was asked to name a dream team . Cooper was in his left midfield. Another notable player he put in attacking midfield was Diego Maradona. That's how highly rated gullit believed him to be
What a talented player Davie Cooper was. Wish we had a player like him today. Ruud Guillit said Davie Cooper was one of the best players he ever saw. What a compliment.
Guillet just named him in his best Xl of all time ahead of ronaldinho 😲 its the reason a you tubed him to see just how good he was, fantastic video he looked an amazing player
From a Dunferfermline fan, loved watching Davie Cooper, including at the end of his career playing for Clydebank when he was still the best player on the pitch and had ball control that is way above anything you see today.
The respect coming from fans of all supporters says it all for me. I had the privilege of seeing Davie at his awesome best on many an occasion. I shed tears the day he died. R. I. P. Davie Cooper.
Jim Leighton said to The Coop after the 87 Skol cup final, "I nearly got a hand to that Davie" Cooper replyed "It must have been on the way back out" It summed the man up, supremely confident and multi talented, Scotland's greatest player.
I'm a Hearts fan and I remember him taking Walter Kidd to the cleaners at Tynecastle, absolutely brilliant player who died too soon. A great video to see a brilliant footballer. 👏
What a player, had the pleasure of watching him loads when I was a lad. Still my favourite player. Laudrup, Gazza and even Larsson er the Road were magnificent, but Cooper has something special.(He was born a Gers man)God Bless you sir.
Could watch him play all day. While I'm happy Davie stayed loyal to Rangers in the bad times of the early 80's, part of me wishes he had moved to England or Italy and got the recognition his talent deserved.
The rangers support know how good a player he was and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. Same thing with Gerrard. Obviously everyone knows he was an incredible player but people still bring up the Premier league. Had he moved to chelsea in 05 he’d have won the Premier League but ultimately he’d just be another player. Instead he stayed and became a Liverpool legend. Same with Davie. They’ll always be remembered by there respective club.
Only seen him once at Palmerton when Rangers played Queens in the cup. Cooper came on at half time and totally run the game. He was everywhere and the best player I have ever seen in person.
19 years today and the man is still a Legend and always will be. You never get fed up watching these clips, such a tragic loss to all in football. R.I.P Davie Cooper....long gone but never forgotten
20 years today now....In another 20 years youngsters will be watching clips from Cooper ..... He will never be forgotten by any gers, Motherwell, clydebank, Scotland fans or anyone who seen him play
As a celtic fan you cant help admiring this man , he was a genuis and a smashing player for rangers , i always wonder what he would be worth now , far better than the crap of player we see nowadays, god rest his soul .
A Hearts fan here but what a pleasure it was to have seen Davie Cooper play. I was at the game in the first clip. He was an absolute genius taken from us far too early.
Ah, what a player. Just watching these clips takes me back to the time when I was a young lad playing football for various boys' clubs. Unfortunately, my dad wasn't in to football and hence I wasn't encouraged. I felt as though I had the magic eye, particularly as I always played in the older teams and wore the number 10 right mid jersey. I recall watching the Aberdeen vs Rangers game live that is featured @ 2:34-2:43 in this compilation. You could hear the ball "crack" the back of the net! ACE!
Special, Just very special, I Look around at the SPL games thease days, I don't see any player capable of getting near the Skill he had, Scotland will always love you my son R.I.P .
The year 22 and davie cooper was simply the best. In davie cooper words. I played for the team I loved. I support 2 teams rangers and whoever plays celtic. 🏴🇬🇧
Only come across him as Ruud Gullit mentioned him in his dream team, I’d never heard of him! How come he never got any bigger recognition??? What a talent!!!!
he reminds me a bit of giggs ,the flair ,the burst of speed, the genius control ,if he plays in todays game ,the world wud definitely know more about this wonderful player, davie ur a rangers legend
Im a Rangers fan since 1982. Read a lot abt his exploits & how he tore defences to shreds but didnt get to see him in action. Only here could I see it with my own eyes. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant player. Was absolutely gutted when he passed on. Im quite curious & interested to see if that exciting new boy in the park, David Cooper Templeton, can be anything of the player he was named after. RIP Coop
Davie was a rangers can who lived the dream of playing for his team the Glasgow rangers was his team and he was a fan who lived the dream always in our hearts never see another one like you you are and always will be super cooper one of the people follow.follow
@simooney07thats really good mate a celtic fan showing huge respect for a rangers ledgend. i am a motherwell fan and although i didnt get to witness the mans greatness i still view him as one of the grwat scottish footballers like jimmy johnstone a genuis down the wing the heavens 11 have got to footballing greats down the wing.
scottish football in general needs a davie cooper like player again. Sadly with the current structures and pressures and such actually having a winger with skill and technique and imagination is secondary to them being able to track back and make forward runs.
I remember standing at Hampden on the terraces as an Aberdeen fans and seeing Dave Cooper standing over that freekick and having a sinking feeling in my stomach even before the smashed it into the top corner! What a player he was, died on my birthday as well.
The man,the legend!,only one Davie Cooper. The best left footer to put on a Rangers jersey, watching him wi a baw at his feet against Celtic are for me the best memories of a player playing his heart n soul fur the jersey.R.I.P Davie Cooper
got to say u jocks produced some unbelievable wingers just in my lifetime, jinky and willie jonstone, eddie gray, this fella, john robertson, wouldnt like to say who was the best out of that lot. Infact your 1978 world cup squad was probably the strongest squad of players britain ever assembled, how times change.
That free kick against Jim Leighton would still be rising to this day if the net hadn’t stopped it… even after all these years it still surprises me how hard he hit that ball. PERFECT technique.
always been a fan but as a teenager the 1st time I seen Davie play for Rangers was on his debut against Ross County in a friendly 1997 (on holiday at campsite outside county's ground in Dingwall lol) ,, best left footer in the business, don't think anyone will ever match Davie or (dare i say it) Jinkie, true footballers who played for the team they loved
