Davina Michelle wrote 'January Without You'; a song about the power of hope, especially for all children in the Netherlands with cancer. The song was written for Mission 538, an initiative of Radio 538 in which the DJs take action together with listeners and friends of the station to raise as much money as possible for the Princess Máxima Center.
Am I turtley 🐢 enough to be in the turtle club? Glad I don’t have to go through January without your videos. Davina is Dutch, so maybe Speculaas (windmill cookies), Jan Hagel (Christmas cookie) Banketstaaf (cake log) , shrimp cocktail is common at holidays. They drink a hot wine called Glühwein. They celebrate Christmas two days there (25th & 26th). Was fortunate enough to spend one Christmas living there. I’m sure some of the Dutch Wolfpack contingent will be able to expand. Love y’all!
I am Dutch and Davina lives a few miles from my home 🙂We all love her because she is such a sweet, modest, approchable and ordinary down to earth Dutch girl, she is also extremely funny and every conversation with her turns into hilarious laughter, she is a gem. Speculaas and Banketstaaf is eaten on Sint Nicolaas day on 5 December and I don't think the Jan Hagel cookie is connected to a festify, it is just a cookie. Shrimp cocktail is indeed something we eat during Christmas as a appetizer but Glühwein is a Austrian drink. During Christmas day we eat Christmas stollen, it is bread with currants and for dinner we don't have a specific traditional meal. A lot of people do 'gourmetten', where you have a heated iron plate on the table where everyone grills his own little pieces of meat. Dinner takes a couple of hours that way and you don't have the stress and work in the kitchen all day.
I just hope January isn’t a snapping turtle. Can’t take much else. The song though was very nice. Almost every Christmas is a honeybaked ham. The rest varies. Have a great day and a non- snapping turtle 🐢 month. Take care. 🙏🙏🙏
