I think I remember vizion posting a tutorial like this, when I went back to check it out it was gone and all the other tuts i found for this effect used particle systems to get this result. Awesome walk-through!

I'm trying to to this effect, but when I'm adding immgage plane 3 D and I'm coonecting it with MediaIn1, it's just all black, doesn't work 😢

I redone it with other jpeg and it worked, but, there this sneaky little bastard Ref Time in UVMap3D which for some reason is set to 75 (in video 0), and that thingy messes the whole thing up

Very nice tutorial. I guess we can call this Fusion's version of AE's pixel poly effect. Have you tried doing something similar but in 3D? Like a big rock breaking apart into smaller rocks? And I don't mean into uniform particles.

With the way that the replicate works I don't think it is possible, it will just randomly split all of the faces

why is it giving me this weird distortion on davinci 18 when i change the Y 5:37 also when I did the division using the subdivision number (5) it was still overlapping. I ended up eyeballing it to 0.04 so I assume that's the most likly issue

My jaws were in the floor for this one....wow, I'm still reeling. Thank you for sharing this. Wow. Edit: So I decided to extend the transition a little bit... Changed the image plane input to cubed. Kinda now looks like breaking glass. Mind if I put this out or yo could add it to one of your videos. Thanks again for sharing this

Aye bro love the video I wanted to know do you have a suggestion/video to teach how to make the image smoothly go in and out of the clip? For example, at 0:12 the swipe in and out of Casey Faris's video is what I want to learn. Much love brother!

When I get to to the replicate 3d controls, my image bugs out. When I change the y value, my entire image stretches and then moves down with the keyframes. So the keyframes make the entire image stretched and then move down. I tried not using that keyframe and just using the jitter keyframes. That splits my entire image into the 25 segments with random pieces of stretched image which then shatters. I can also add that in the beginning, with the wireframe, I had diagonal lines through my wireframes. Could you help me?

Bro Why did you add Mask on the Fast Noise ?? I got almost same effect without adding the mask to the Fast Noise. Lile I'm not able to see some benefit of using the mask. Can you walk me through it ??

How to do the opposite effect? Breaking pieces to complete image? When I do the opposite keyframes for the Jitters the complete picture is messed up.

I would use a time stretcher to reverse the timing, your footage would also need to be backwards to counteract the reversing

Hey PeeJ, I applied Shatter Effect to my Clips & it reduced the Size of it. Like First the full clip was showing Up but the moment adjustment clip with my shatter effect started, my clip went in the center & all 4 sides were black just like you cropped it. Any Explanation ?

Did recreate your Comp. I see a size gradient from bottom left to top right, which you can be neglected when setting FastNoise both R and G of Color1 to -1. Hope this helps...

Not sure if it could help, but i had a problem with gradient too, and another day another attempt i saw that there is a setting Ref Time in UVMap3D1 which is set to 75 at default for some reason, and yeah, when i set it to 0 like in the video (2:39) it fixed it

the different rgb channels control the position of the displace when we change the channel to rgb, so red would be like displacement for the X axis, green for the Y and blue for the Z

if we deduce the timing of this video, youre spending 5 minutes to do a 2 second scene while you have 30 more minutes of footage to edit i feel like this is something you would do to make one of those edgy "this is my edit" shorts of one of the most lamest things ever still a pretty useful effect though, just the execution is too much
