Davy Jones is easily one of Disney's best antagonists. He has so much depth and complexity that other Disney villains lack.

We just need a movie about Davy Jones backstory.

When I was younger I thought calypso was friendly and Davy Jones was bad And I wasn’t understanding why the pirates were saying that calypso is bad and they all hate her but with a couple of time I realized Calypso was the actual villains cuz she turned a good and kind man into a monster

There's something so beautiful in the simplicity of this. The creaking of the ship, the waves hitting the hull. I can picture myself on a ship in the middle of the night looking out at the stars with this melody playing. Thinking about lost innocence, a child who was wronged and grew up to become a monster, knowing deep down inside that his way of living is wrong. Questioning what happened to him, what he's doing with his life, the people he is hurting through his choices, and what fate will fall upon him in his future. He plays this melody in an effort to grasp whatever good he has left. When he closes his eyes, he is a child again listening to the tune play while his mother holds him. He can see her smile and feel her warmth. He opens his eyes and he's back leaning over the rail of the ship in the dark and the quiet, the sails flapping quitely in the wind, the horizon teetertottering in the distance. He sighs in disgust at the man he has become.

Imagine devoting a tenth of your life for someone, then them abandoning you. That breaks any person, no matter how strong they are, how naive they are, how sturdy they are, or how evil they are. You then have to deal with that pain forever. You would have to separate yourself from your heart, because if you didn’t, the only thing you would be doing is plotting a way to die.

I think Davy Jones is a perfect villain for a movie series rated for everyone (AKA for both kids and adults.) He’s kinda silly and campy sometimes, but he’s also intimidating when he needs to be. This keeps the audience entertained. But they also give him a tragic and sympathetic backstory to give the adults something to think about. You want Davy Jones to lose and the good pirate crew to win, but you also kinda feel bad because you know that deep down, Davy Jones is only evil because he was hurt. He was hurt so badly that he never allowed himself to heal. This was symbolized with him literally cutting out his heart and putting all his feelings in s box. A very complex and emotional villain. In my opinion, I think a villain should be slightly sympathetic. Even if you consciously know that their evil, the audience being able yo slightly empathize with the villain makes it 100x more interesting than just another Good vs. Evil fight. Anyway, perfect villain lol

This is a poem I wrote about this piece and I hope you all enjoy… Adrift… Lost out at sea, why can’t I see, if only the water would just let me be.. Salt rubs my wounds and I feel so weak, all I want to do is rest my cheek.. I pray to the lord so that I can be saved, but my soul is lost upon the waves… I’m slowly dying and there’s no one there, if only someone would care.. I’m a little girl and I’m lost at sea, Will somebody please help me, I wanna go home to my family, if only they could find me… I just want some peace before I die, But that’s the thing, everyone lies.. My heart is anchored to sea between the rocks and debris, if only I could set myself free, I can’t get out and I’m losing hope, my lungs fill with water and now I’m starting to choke… The waves are rocking my body to sleep, And my eyes are so sore I can’t even weep… I’m drowning slowly, and i can’t even swim. And now all I can see is a fin, the sharks are coming and I’m running out of time, but that’s okay as I’ve accepted my fate, cause I feel I deserve all this hate, And now it’s getting late and my body’s starting to sink, and then I start to think Will they find me at the bottom of the ocean, thousands of souls lost at sea, why would they choose me? And for one last time I look up at the stars, And I put all my thoughts in a jar, the universe is calling me home, and I can’t wait to be alone. All I want is my music, to send me to sleep, that’s all I want to keep.. because nothing else matters when your lost at sea, even though my family means so much to me.. but I’m a burden on them and I’m better off gone, to the bottom of the ocean that’s where I belong.

Somehow this melody captures the pain, the suffering that Davy Jones went through. His conflicted emotions, over a broken promise, made him a monster... he vents out his rage through his pipe organ on the Flying Dutchman, hitting the right keys and notes that purely reflect his pain... Davy Jones is no doubt the most misunderstood villain of any universe. Conflicted over love, and all the rage that built up made him Davy Jones...

I always think about Davy and calipso, Davy more especific;; His history was painful at the start. When the fell in love with Calipso, he even know the punishment if he don't follow the rules for the souls, even that, when he turn in to a monster, he never stop loving her ultil the day he died, even he took off his heart. Maybe he is a one of the best villains of Disney, and he deserves a movie, of maybe a Happy ending with Calipso, he was only a man who fall in love for the eternity, and maybe he only was hurt for obvious reasons, and I think he only wants to stay with her by his side forever. they have a great love tragic story. He is a good pirate;;

It’s 3 am and I’m in bed listening to this while peeling a raw onion because I’m hungry... Update: I’ve eaten the entire onion and my mouth feels like I just drank sulphuric acid, I can’t taste anything in the canter of my tongue, and my heart and stomach feel like they are on fire... A truly sobering experience.

Honestly the real monster wasn’t Davy Jones, it was Calypso. He did what she asked for 10 years without fail waiting for the one day he could see his beloved, only for her to not be there and show she didn’t care. I would feel betrayed and angered too.

I always like to listen to the PotC soundtrack when I play Sea Of Thieves. It just adds to the depth of the game and makes it much more enjoyable. However, it’s when I get to this song that everything takes a much more interesting appearance. As I sail I begin to wonder what it is I sail for. Am I searching for unending riches, power, love? These Earthly desires make up every games’ story and I wonder why. What happens when we reach it? These are considered mortal desires because they are just that, mortal. They never last forever and those Earthly delights will fade. I play games like Sea Of Thieves looking to become a Pirate Legend but why? What do I do then? Then when I put the controller down I find myself in the same way. I am still searching for those Earthly delights but now in my living consciousness. This is why Davy Jones is such a tragic character. He recognized this as well but by that point it was too late for him. He then began his work on the Dutchman, teaching people where their lust for their mortal wants leads them. Suffering. He cut out his own heart because the fleeting happiness of life wasn’t worth the pain. Too many people forget this sad part of life and it has led so many astray. They don’t recognize these emotions as temporary so it always hurts the most when it dies, just as we will. Wow, this comment got really sad. Please forgive me but I needed to get this out of my head somehow and this is how I did it.

Love drives us all a little crazy. That or stupidity. Imagine not only being heartbroken and cursed but also having to deal with your half brained crew members. For. Eternity.

I travelled a year around the world. When I came back, I texted my girlfriend to wait for me at the docks. I had a couple of gifts for her. When I walked of that boat, she wasn’t there. The next day, she called me and told me that she was cheating on me and already in a relationship with the other man. I was looking forward a whole year to see her... for nothing. When i got home, I put this on immediatly, immaging me being Davy Jones... Angry and wanting revenge on everything and everyone.

Davy Jones it's easily the best Disney villain ,[I'm not counting Vader because he didn't was a Disney villain in the first place] he have the best villain soundtrack ever made, one of the greatest backstories created, and a frigging amazing design

I love pirates so much. Their lifestyles were interesting as well as their wardrobes. They were what was know as "bloody buccaneers" because of their reckless behaviors. Seriously, an average day on a pirate ship resulted in getting drunk, killing someone, gambling, and many other things that are better left unsaid. Davy Jones has to be my favorite pirate of all time because of how deep and emotional his background was. It was beautifully put together and should be praised for being unique and authentic.

I miss my girl, we're in a long distance relationship. Every night I listen and fall asleep to this song with tears in my eyes...

When i listen to this, my heart seems to slow down. Memories start flowing in my head... memories when i was a young boy and how everything was great back then. I had friends and a family and right now i have nothing, besides my mother and father who are in the last years of their lives. My mom she is 68 and my dad is 80. I am 28 and i feel like this life decided to take things by pieces until i have nothing but me. Love those 2 so much that when they go i will be completely broken and empty (psychologically speaking). I do hope that one day someone will come to my life to remove this from me. I used to be happy, but now i am just an empty vessel. This song makes me feel relaxed and happy because i can feel bits of what i felt when i was younger...I Just close my eyes and let myself go with this music.

I don’t know why but the thought of being Davy Jones damned and stuck at sea for Eternity with a crew and ship destroying fleets, being feared but also living a sad life with a broken heart from a love. Just seems so awesome I’m just so fascinated with the villains of the Disney universe and I always wanted to live their life instead of the hero.

POV: Its almost 7 am you've been up all night unable to sleep so you turn to this video. Ten years version

This is a good thing to listen to when you ran out of tears and want the world to cry for you. I value rain because of it. It reminds me that I am not alone. Just growing cold, in some ways.

One Night, I sat on my cabin on Lake Superior. It was a dark, stormy and cold night. On this night 45 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald was lost to the lake. I lit my pipe and sat looking out the window. Suddenly, I saw a shape on the horizon, it was a ghostly outline of a ship. I then realized it was a large freighter. There was fire coming from her smokestack and as she got closer, i could see her name: Edmund Fitzgerald. And that was the night I saw a ghost ship.
