yea it took me awhile to figure that out too. instead of utilising note changes, acid lines mainly makes use of changes in the note lengths, accents and slides to do the ‘talking’. the notes are mostly the same throughout, with the occasional octave up or down.

Straight from the TR-8’s 909, turn ‘tune’ up a little, crank up the compression for it, and just tweak the decay to fit right before the first note of the rolling bass. Didn’t use any FX pedals for this one.

It’s made much more for performance, for sure. And definitely more versatile too! There are two things I miss from the DBI though: Distorted kick and FM drum. Haha but they’re different beasts altogether, these two. Oh, have you see the latest update to the TR-8S? They included an FM drum synth in the update, looks so rad thou!

@ANVBS It sounds great, love the look of it too, beats the DBI on that front. Very Borg 👽 I'm finding my current approach quite difficult, still a high fail rate on tracks I've worked from a freeform jam into something more short and sharp. Point is, I think it's safe to assume I'm going to have a fail if I attempt to do anything live, so really need a strategy in place for when things go wrong and I have to restart to resync sequences (worst case scenario) ERM Multiclock looks great, but the price is too high atm. Hehe, most expensive part of my rig is a clock is not something I want to be able to say :) Still undecided but having some drums independent of the Circuit seems to be the most viable option, but I only need a couple of tracks really. Can't decide if I should go down the extra drum machine route or sort out my small modular to do it, size being a consideration. There's nothing mini about a Minibrute 2s, at least it's not heavy!

Moving towards this now, short and sharp, but still free form! Hahah. Anyways, Iy a couple of test runs in at the new studio. Sounds so dark in here.... love it! let’s go!

The Drumbrute is a cool machine, made for live performance at a great price. I'd save to get the TR8S over the TR8, for the samples and extra steps. As it's Roland it's fairly pricey but you get the sliders for live performance and more audio outs and FX for the money. If you love the sound of the Drumbrute then get one. If you want 808s and 909s get the TR8/S. I have a Drumbrute but I'd still like a TR8S of my own. Whichever you choose you won't be disappointed.😎

@@nanomancer Have you looked at the Beatstep Pro for sequencing? I haven't tried it myself but I'm wanting to because tracks can be muted, if that's what you mean by resyncing tracks? The Minibrute 2S looks fantastic, doesn't it!?
