Ahh so possibly the last song on afterhours the character died on “bleeding out” and now this might be the journey through purgatory of that character

Love this explainer - I’ve been listening to this album and thinking about it all day. It’s a true masterpiece and artistic achievement.

So this is him in purgatory state, or the wait time for judgement day. A few things: In the intro, you can hear a 'demon like' voice say FREE YOURSELF. Jim Carrey is gonna guide you to the light, which is not true, as he puts you in a loop and guides you to hell (the devil in disguise. Jim has a calm voice, he projects the light in front of you, lying). The voice that says FREE YOURSELF, which is an angel or God, plays an extremely important role basically throughout the whole album. You can imagine that voice and those two words at the start of each song on Dawn FM. As for his older version (what i'm about to say is pure speculation because we don't have the music video's yet to understand this): I think that version somehow goes back in time to warn the young version about this loop that leads to ultimate death instead of the light. So maybe Abel first ignores the "FREE YOURSELF" voice, and later on he'll listen to it and escape this 'radio station loop', aka satan's trap. And that's when the next album comes into play to close this trilogy.

I love how he kills off his old self in almost every album video he puts out it’s shows he’s accepting his growth as an artist . In this case he was actually old and killing that part of himself could it be he never learned his mistakes and want to go back to being young and making better life decisions . Jim Carey narrated him in the afterlife and saying basically to accept his fate this in an incredible story I’m ready for some more videos to continue putting this puzzle together .

this is a great take. thankyou for explaining and helping me to understand this beautiful era in it’s entirety. the weeknd will always be the greatest artist of all time.

Abel's cinematics of his last 3 albums is so heartbreaking in a good way, they are very yerning of sweet bitter pain in a way you find pleasure in it, like pain being a fetish of some sort... I dont know who can relate to this but it is as it is.

I hope that I might not be late but can you try and see if you can find any symbolism in the red dancers that feature on the Dawn FM exclusive on Amazon Prime and on some of his current concerts? They absolutely fascinated me when I went to his Chicago concert and I absolutely wanted to know if they have any significance and or impact on the story of his album, especially since I haven’t seen anyone on any platform talk about them yet. However, is his album supposed to symbolize something darker, like as if he sold his soul or something? Is this like your own interpretation of the album? People make it sound as if it’s dark so it causes a lot of overthinking.😂

Ie; black goo. Note: his bluetooth ear piece is in sync with what is happening and when it almost dies, He almost comes out of his head and back to reality. Those people behind him are literally "demons dancing in His head" the lotus is in all his videos off his last 2 albums which were both concept albums. They get high off the lotus, ie: see the greek story of Odesious crew becoming addicted to the lotus after eating it, it's a metaphor for something forbidden. They pause to look up in the sky and put on their eclipse glasses but notice it doesnt appear to be good weather... I meant to do a breakdown on this last month but my computer went down, so better late than ever I guess

LOL THere a lot of simpletons in these comments, but jesus i feel like this was very sloppy placing together, Its like he watched,/read vanilla sky, dorian gray, dantes inferno, marx season 7 and 8 of lost and eyes wide shut mixed with old boy. Why don’t he just accept Jesus Christ as his lord and savior if he wants to be saved instead of all of this confused acceptance of his wrong doings. Sounds like he’s trying to save himself. He must accept Christ to achieve real life salvation. This is just another secular depiction of one’s soul try to be purified without accepting Jesus. Christ is the light, Christ is the only way to salvation!
