Hello MellVerse, You should watch & react to the next two films "War" & "Kingdom". They are both excellent. 5 more movies are planned after "Kingdom" & the initial plan is to tell the story of the events that led up to the 1968 original with Charlton Heston. Speaking of which, you should watch the first five "Apes" films with Charlton Heston & Roddy McDowell. They are true Sci-Fi Classics in every sense of the word. "Planet of the Apes" is the first true blockbuster Sci-Fi franchise before "Star Wars." It practically laid the groundwork for how Blockbusters were marketed 20th Century Fox launched a campaign for people to "Go Ape!" The campaign proved to be a major success. This campaign included games, toys, playsets, masks, action figures, coloring books. You name it. They had it. All of the first five movies were played to sold out crowds all across the country during the 1970s. There were even two television series. One live action. The other animated. It was a good time to be an Apes fan back then.
@HelloMellowXVI bro do me a favor . When you talk. Dont keep the movie rolling and then we muss some of it. Either go small screen and play it with full volume while your talking.. or not at all. Respectfully. Thats annoying asf to alot if us
I would argue the originals don’t really hold up, especially after the first. Along with being the first major sci-fi series they were also the first to pump them out year after year favoring quantity over quality. While the makeup effects are top-notch, Charlton Heston carried the first film.
I'll never understand how Andy Serkis never got an Oscar for his motion capture and voice for Ceaser. I really love Maurice's voice too. I wish he talked more throughout the trilogy.
The fact that you watched this movie without subtitles and still pretty much understood everything regarding the apes is a testament to how good this movie is.
The reason a majority of the apes sided with Koba is because they basically operate off of a "the strongest rule" mentality. When Caesar "died", Koba took control and another would have had to challenge him to take control. We can only assume that either nobody challenged Koba, or whoever did lost and the other apes fell in line out of fear.
Caesar and his son both had to learn that just because someone looks like you, it doesn't mean you can always trust them. Wars often spark from people's inability to forgive, much less tolerate each other.
They are the best parts of this reaction! 😂😂 I’d love to see a parody of these movies with Mell voicing them over. Chips Ahoy would be sponsoring him in a day 🤣
For the set, they actually rented out an old amusement park and built the center of the apes village there! The practical effects of this movies are amazing! And also the technical achievement of keeping the motion capture equipment dry in those extremely wet conditions is insane!
I got the privilege to meet Andy Serkis, he has the kindest eyes and such a genuine warmth. Very humble about the work he has done. He is an incredible actor. And extremely underrated. Glad to see you’re watching these amazing films. ❤
After the credits there is an audio cue of Apes digging through, and removing rubble and concrete. Then Koba's distinctive breathing is heard, hinting at Koba surviving the fall after his struggle with Caesar
Koba was meant to survive because it was a weird fall a few reactions have stated even myself when watching so they had that at the end if they wanted to bring him back but then decided to kill him off since his character had a great end to it and they didn't wanna ruin it so they gave his story to donkey in war
There’s some really amazing behind the scenes footage of some of the making of this. It shows the actors in their motion capture suits doing the scenes. And then some side-by-side of the behind the scenes part, next to the movie scene. I particularly remember the actor that plays Koba. And showing him doing the scenes where koba is playing dumb with those 2 guys in the infirmary and when his face switches up as he walks away. One of my favorite parts! Also when they’re in the tunnel thing drinking, and Koba grabs their drinks. And then their gun. Absolutely so cool.
Since there’s been a bunch of Planet of The Apes movies before these already, I’m electing to call these the Caesar Trilogy. Kingdom is already looking like it’ll start a whole new one that could be the Noa Trilogy and it’s been stated that there’ll be one more trilogy after that.
Dawn is by far the best of the trilogy. No disrespect to the Rise and War. They were good movies, but Dawn is amazing. Another note, I enjoyed the Kingdom.
War is EASILY the greatest film of the series. It greatly benefitted from Woody Harrelson’s acting chops being added to Serkis’s performance. Not to mention Bad Ape, who is the best character in the series 🤣
100% agree with you! Dawn is my favourite among this trilogy. And I have seen Kingdom, which I think is on par with Dawn imo. Difference is Kingdom is more like the new chapter in the ape realm, like Exodus from the Bible.
I watched you rise of the planet of the apes video this morning and I went looking to see if you had done the other movies and was sad to see just that one. I hop back on and I’m happy to see this was my first recommendation!!!! Sad I was 40 minutes late but happy nonetheless🫶🏼 love your channel
I think bro was crying at the iPad because they were using the fuel to power essential things. Not iPads. He probably hasn’t seen those photos for 10 years
Dawn is my fave. *Dawn* *of* *the* *Planet* *of* *the* *Apes:* *Firestorm* , a novel, captures the events that occurred those 10 winters Maurice speaks of. It also goes into Koba's backstory. I haven't read it yet but bought it for my mom. She's likes it so far.
I don’t know how long it’s going to take you to get to war of the planet of the apes but it’s truly sad at the end. I just can’t wait for your reaction to see it. You gotta see it soon. It’s going to be awesome.
I have worked with Orangutans in the past. The quality of the CGI is unmatched by anything else. When Maurice it’s down with that kid to read a book, it was simply astounding.
I'll be honest, if was this film along with the third planet of the Apes of this film series, along with the film Let Me In (2010), that made me love this director Matt Reeves, so that when he was announced as the guy to direct and write the Batman film (2022) that made me feel confident that he would make something I would love, and in my opinion he did deliver for that Batman film.
I would say go watch Kingdom Of Planet of the Apes with your mom, my mom passed away a couple months ago from cancer and wish I can watch another movie with her (something we did together)….especially a franchise you know she loves just makes it that much special. Life’s too short man, call her up💜 Just do a rewatch like this in the future you know we’ll be here brother.✨
There’s actually books and comics showing each character’s backstory. For example, Koba was an abuse ape actor who attack the director. Ellie used to work at one of the labs where the apes were held for experiments
The planet of the apes movies are as underrated if not more than Edge of Tomorrow, the fact that not every human on the planet knows what these movies are hurts me.
Mello loved your reaction and commentary to this movie you were so hyped and passionate . One of the best movie reactions you have done. This was a first watch for me you made it so much more enjoyable. So until, the next one 💜
You keep saying you're surprised by how the Apes are acting like the Humans. They're acting like Apes. We're apes too. Sure, we're really smart apes, but never forget that we're still animals, we're still mammals, we're still apes. And we're the dumbest ones, because we're the ones making our own world unlivable for us.
I remember getting hype knowing the ape human battle was coming, and how my heart absolutely sank seeing so many apes killed senselessly. Stuff like the gorilla pulling the wounded out of the line of fire while being wounded himself.
Caesar thought he could make peace with the humans, but John Connor turned out to be the Terminator, and Koba put an explosive charge in Agent Farris' head.
First time I saw Dawn and War this year a whole decade later and it shits on a lot of movies I’ve ever seen I wish I could’ve seen them in theatres but probably wouldn’t have appreciated as much when I was 18
Hi thanks for reacting to part 2 of the greatest trilogy ever Dawn. I adore Rise, Dawn, War and now Kingdom they are masterpieces but criminally underrated and unappreciated . I look forward to your insights on War the final part of Caesars story. Get your tissues stocked up for that one you’re gonna need them. I love Caesar. Andy Serkis blew it out the park when he portrays Caesar. Toby Krebbel who played Koba was brilliant too. I understand why Koba hates humans because what was done to him is the complete opposite of Caesars upbringing but i don’t agree with his methods or shooting Caesar, killing Rockets son Ash by throwing him over the ledge or trying to be the alpha. I’ve seen Kingdom the new one twice now and it’s brilliant. Owen Teague who plays Noa (the protagonist ) and Caesar’s descendant did an amazing job for someone who had never used motion capture before . Andy Serkis set up ape school to help train the actors for their roles in Kingdom. The way the apes etc the expressions via motion capture etc. Owen Teague said he’d never would have been able to do Kingdom if it wasn’t for Andy Serkis and all his help. Take care 😘🏴 #ApesTogetherStrong ❤️ #TeamCaesar ❤️ #TeamNoa (Kingdom) ❤️
How did so many allow themselves to be manipulated? We are seeing it play out in the US today. So many people choosing to accept false information no matter how many times it is proven false.
The thing about Koba is he was always the most dedicated. He trusted Caesar from the start and was his most loyal ally. It's just he hated humans so much it consumed his every choice when they started getting involved with the apes. None of this would've happened if that one shaved headed discount Shane from TWD didn't make every stupid decision in the book to piss off the apes and set off Koba's vengeful side. He was tortured by them for way longer than Caesar and it made his view of humans forever stained with blood. And the more Caesar kept sympathizing and working with the humans kept angering Koba and in his eyes, to work with the humans at all is a betrayal to everything Koba believed in with Caesar. The beating he got was just the final straw.
42:50 Yeah, that's tough in your position. I'll tell you that when the live action Lion King came out I was so excited. I went to see it with my mother as a 27 year old man. I wanted to share it like she shared it with my me as a child. Now, that I had grown up, I wanted to watch it with her. (Even if slightly different it is the same movie.) If it doesn't feel close to the family, save it for us randoms then. Ultimately, do what you want.
It's interesting because Ceaser puts the greater good first. He's not a coward to make the *real* hard decisions. He's not afraid to do what's right for every being instead of simply looking out for a fraction of beings. While as proper as that mentality is, there are people who will literally claim that "humanity over self" if the cry of authoritarians. I find that to be an easy excuse for one to contribute nothing as a collective. The people who argue against the concept of a greater good are clearly telling us how little they care about anyone else. It disturbs me. We don't need Kobas like that in our society. We need more Ceasars. But, of course, with so many Kobas trying to keep all the potential Ceasers down, our society will always suffer.
I always assumed that the humans had to conserve their gasoline and what they used it for. Combine that with the fact that those are Gary Oldman's actual kids, and it really enhances the emotions behind his breakdown there.
Yo Mello! If you haven't already you should watch Alita Battle Angel, it's a hidden gem and i have always adored the movie. Right amount of action and right amount of toned down moments in my opinion
It's actually 10 yrs since they saw humans Mell lol. And I also agree with you the humans could do something productive rather than picking a fight with the apes like move.
No, it was not 10 years bro... they literally said it themselves in the movie that they haven't seen humans in 2 YEARS. Like Are you serious right now? The second movie took place 10 years after the first one... you got that all mixed up. Like Are You looking for attention? Was this your way to get a response from me?
I’ve officially decided that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to be my favorite Planet of the Apes movie. On this trilogy. For older ones, I still gotta see the rest before I decide. Most likely no one will care, but still wanna get it out there. Peace
Next stop War, then Kingdom when it comes to streaming services. Dawn and War are one hell of a rollercoaster ride. 😘🏴 #ApesTogetherStrong ❤️ #TeamCaesar ❤️ #TeamNoa (Kingdom) ❤️
I genuinely don’t understand why we don’t see anyone else reacting to Ash getting dragged off. Even if fear and manipulation prevented them from stopping Koba, we don’t get a bunch of screaming or worried apes following after him
That’s what I was thinking! When I first saw it I was just emotional in my head thinking “that’s your friend! Why aren’t you saying anything?!! Do something!”
@wildtime845 Nah I Understand What You're Saying. I Was Asking, How Would The Miltary Know? Everyone That Knows Malcom Helped The Apes Died Or Wouldn't Snitch On Him And The Others Don't Know He Helped.
@@HelloMellowXVI if I remember correctly Malcom went to the higher ups to stop them because of what he saw/did but was promptly executed so to answer your question no one did until Malcom said something
Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is up there with the best second movie in the trilogy. The Two Towers, The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, The Godfather Part 2, Dune Part 2,, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and of course this movie.
I think you are misunderstanding the AZ-113; it didn't give apes super intelligence it gave them human intelligence. And so now the apes are behaving as humans would.
Probably bc Caesar is the go-to comparison when it comes to the effects of the AZ 113. Caesar was born smart bc his mom had it in her system already when she was pregnant, so when Caesar gave it to the other apes, he did get smarter than average cause he talked not long after.
