Andy Serkis brings so many characters like Caesar to life. It makes me mad how much he is overlooked when it comes to being nominated for big awards. Not even a freaking nomination
@ASK2286
@ASK2286 Год назад
but he was nominated for Best Actor with Empire Awards in Rise of the Apes, Dawn of the Apes and War. He even Won for Dawn of the Apes. Also nominated in two towers and won in return of the king, won best virtual performance on two towers with MTV awards, nominated best supporting actor for Dawn by AACTA, nominated best supporting actor by Satellite Awards for Rise and Dawn, Won Best supporting Actor for Two towers, Rise and nominated for Return of the king and Dawn by Saturn Awards, Best actor for War by them as well, Film Critic awards won and nominated him for so many things I'm not going to list them all. Maybe those aren't considered as big awards, but people have noticed and that's still not all he has won/been nominated for.

The scene where Gary Oldman pulls out the tablet after it charges just to look at the pictures. Gets me every fucking time. Like how long has he carried that around just hoping, waiting, for power to charge it just to look at photos of his family. this is a very underrated series overall, i only wish they could have continued and finished by bringing it full circle to the astronaut crash landing on future earth [the hints in the first movie with the Icarus space ship launch] and the last movies young Nova character [mute girl] - would have been very cool to see how they would have remade the original 60's storyline with these 3 movies of world building behind it to give it depth and history.

Funny that George mentioned Plague Inc. Simian Flu is one of the virus options in the game. It’s actually part of a tie-in with 20th Century Fox and the in-game icon is Caesar’s face from the poster.

I thought it was a big improvement on the already good first one. I love the greyness of it but it still doesn't feel overly grim, like caricatures. Nice feel of a well-written tragedy. I also think that's it's still on origin story, at least if you've ever seen the original film. Too bad the original probably wouldn't do too well on your channel, but it's really worth a watch on your own time. Dated in some ways, but the script is amazing old school scifi at its best and overall the movie just works.

War for the planet of the apes is amazing. The 2 protagonists match up against each other in a truly epic showdown. It also pushes Caesers moral compass in ways the first 2 haven't. The song they play at the gas station is “The Weight” by The Band, and I love that they use it in this film because its lyrics perfectly reflect the events of the plot: The first verse is about a weary traveler who asks a stranger for help, and the stranger can’t give him what he wants but still offers to lend him a hand. It’s a good parallel for Caesar agreeing to help Malcolm, especially since there’s a line that goes, “‘No’ was all he said.” That totally works as a reference to Caesar’s first word. The second verse is about a man seeing someone he knows walking side-by-side with “the devil,” and when he asks the person he knows to go somewhere with him, they turn him down and leave him alone with the devil. This works as a parallel for Koba’s betrayal, with the Koba that Caesar knows leaving and only his evil side remaining. The scene even times it out so that this verse plays during the moment when Koba kills the trigger happy human.

Really looking forward to your guys' reaction to "War for the Planet of the Apes." I certainly hope ya'll react to it sooner rather than later. It's the best one of the trilogy; it's darker, more tragic, more sophisticated in terms of both morality and character development, and as a character study it gives Serkis's performance as Caesar *so* many more layers, it's downright insulting that he was never nominated for Best Actor.

This movie does such a good job of putting the audience in the other guy’s shoes: Gary Oldman’s character would never have gone as far as he did if he hadn’t been reminded of what he lost so soon before being bushwhacked, Koba being covered in “human work,” Caesar trying so hard to separate himself from humans that he made it his society’s number one rule (ape not kill ape) not thinking he’d have to defy it so soon. It’s so well thought out.

It's not necessarily that. For example, I dislike the fact that they chat over a lot of important dialogue scenes. Not because I want to hear the dialogue, but because I want THEM to pay attention to it and react accordingly rather than chatting over and missing it entirely or not taking it in properly. People want to see them react to the movie, not talk over a bunch of it when they could simply wait till the end to do so and give the film their undivided attention during.
