@Taramafor Haikido Cultists are a dime a dozen and usually poorly disciplined and trained, often used as sacrificial pawns by the warbands of Chaos, although the command and discipline of every Chaos warband differs based not only upon parent traitor legion but also on the mentality of their leader. Chaos Lord Bale is likely more akin to a thug then a real general, Sindri was the hands behind it all...
@@PoorManatee6197 Creed is an IG general, who in the tabletop has the ability "tactical genius" which permit you to take one unit before the battle, and consider it as a scout unit. EVERY UNITS CAN BE SELECTED, giving situations like a baneblade poping behind the ennemy, as well as Titan going out of an 50 cm tall bush to reveal itself to the ork kommando hidding in this same bush. *TACTICAL GENIUS*
I wonder if anyone noticed the little easteregg this mission had. After you secure your position in the Machine Cult outpost, the marines at the chasim are stomped by the enemy guns and raptors. Said raptors proceed to destroy your starting base without the protection from your allies, because why are you going to waste time and units to defend the useless base? On the ground that the Fortress Monastery is built, lay two dead Imperial Guardsmen. The same environment resource used throughout the campaign to signify local casualties prior to your arrival to the map, just eyecandy corpses. However, these particular Guardsmen are too conveniently placed to be random casualties. No, if their presence in the Fortress Monestary was any indication, I would say that Isador had used these poor guardsmen as sacrifices to further his dark intuition, to further grasp at the idea of harnessing the Malidictum's power. Truly, all power demands sacrifice, and those poor guardsmen, along with four other tactical marines)later on), were Isador's, before he had become a sacrifice himself... All in the pursuit of power, For Chaos.
@@REXY22FULL Simple. They are 'heretics', no? They could be 'interrogated' and later 'executed' by Isador, since an Astartes is stronger than any pitiful mortal human.
@@GlareanLiebertine Not to mention it is likely most blood ravens personnel were more preoccupied with the battle to pay more then a glance to some dead guardsmen
Oh come on, this is Chaos here. They're one step removed from mustache-twirling, deathtrap-loving crazy-laughing cartoon villains. Of COURSE they kill the messenger.
It's rather unfair to kill the messenger for telling you that enemy forces are incoming. Would you rather your minions -not- tell you about the army that is about to attack? Being alerted to a threat is not ill news. It's required information and killing someone for giving it to you is being little more then a spoiled brat.
Yah, Evil Overlord List actually put this on number 32 :) . To quote; "I will not fly into a rage and kill a messenger who brings me bad news just to illustrate how evil I really am. Good messengers are hard to come by."
He's not being killed for bearing bad news. He's being killed for recklessly doing so to an easily aggravated space marine. Had he delivered the report to Sindri without Lord Bale present, he might have lived.
Lord Bale: "Excellent , prepare for what is to come - and dispose of this idiot. (Lord Bale starts to leave)" Chaos Cultis: (Panicking) "Why? How have I failed!?" Sindri: "You were stupid enough to personally deliver ill news to Lord Bale and we cannot abide stupidity." (Proceeds to epically pwn cultist) God-Emperor damn that is funny
Thecommander248 Ahriman kicks asses, Abaddon kicks asses, Kharn the Betrayer kicks asses, Alpharius kicks asses (if you still think that he's dead, you don't understand how the Alpha Legion works just as Robot Gullibleman, pun intended), Perturabo almost killed Rogal Dorn and inflicted a decisive victory on the Imperial Fists, Horus plan at Istvaan V was brilliant and destroyed almost completely three loyalist legions, Typhus is undefeated, etc. I could go on for ages about successful chaos leadership. Lord Bale is hilariously out of character as an Alpha Legion Chaos Lord and that's why DoW 1 is so funny. He's goofy and a great comic relief character. But if it was a true Alpha Legion operation, the Blood Ravens would have been completely out manoeuvred and would have fallen into a deadly and fateful trap.
Many people would argue about Abaddon being competent. I'm on the edge about that. I lean to him being competent. Alpharius may not be a Chaos Warlord. He could be faking it, if he's even still alive. But really I was mostly referring to DoW Chaos warlords because those are the ones whose voices we actually hear.
Thecommander248 Yea, DoW's Chaos Lord are quite goofy and incompetent except maybe Eliphas in Dark Crusade. About Alpharius and the Alpha Legion being traitors or not, they are simply a different brand of Chaos. Like the Night Lords, they aren't interested by the Chaos gods and their goals. They only take chaos gifts if it's useful for them, not out of reverence or faith like the Word Bearers. But they are most definitively decided at conquering/destroying the Imperium, but for their own interests. There is an important theme in their actions, both Pre-Heresy and after, about trying to prove themselves to be best Astartes amongst all the legions. That's why that one of their first post-Heresy operation was to goad the Ultramarines into attacking them by luring them with the supposed presence of their primarch. Finally, Alpharius was "killed" in personnal combat by Gulliman, but a pre-planned Alpha Legion's counter-attack roundly defeated the Ultramarines and their primarch was very close to being killed himself. Sounds like an ambush to me and the guy impersonating Alpharius being a decoy. They wanted to show the Ultramarines who was the best because Gulliman had previously denounced Alpha Legions tactics and tried to make them being censured by the Emperor.
Thecommander248 I know this is two weeks late, but I still feel like I need to say this. I am a novice but from what I know, Abaddon's failures can be blamed on two big reasons: Plot Armor and the schemings of the Dark Gods/other authorities. From what I have heard, the Dark Gods are scared of Abaddon succeeding, since they always let him get close to victory and then snatch it away.
Master Yee There are only like 2 or 3 Black Crusades which failed on a total of 12. All others were either partial or total victories. The myth of Abaddon failing his Black Crusades comes from 2 sources : 1. Very old CSM codices were awfully vague about his crusades and people just assumed he threw 12 times his armies on Cadia and failed everytime which is false. This is particularly true for the first 3rd edition codex (1999) which has like 1 or 2 lines of text talking of his crusades. 2. The internet hasn't read the more recent fluff, notably the Black Legion supplement which describe a lot more how each crusade went and how they ended. Most of them had limited objectives by the way like seizing an a powerful artifact or ruining a local star system which manufactured space ships by example. So when you starting digging about it, you now see Abaddon as he is : one of the best strategist of 40k and one of the Imperium's largest threat to its existence.
This is why Chaos will take a long time to actually win the war. Too chaotic!...kill their own, disorganized, and too prone to emotion and instant 'gratification'.
@Easton2411 Disney started it! =P (Because tones like Sindri's imply that you wish to keep up appearances and are carefully thinking through every word you say, which would suggest that you have something that you NEED to keep hidden, such as, in Sindri's case, the fact he plans to sacrifice Bale to release the maledictum.)
This was a great level and the music in that level was epic. At least the loser that fails Lord Bale does try to fight back when in games and movies most henchmen accept there fate.
Can't they supersoldier jump the heck past that chasm? (Did not expect a track from Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne to fit so well in a WH40K setting, of all places.)
But why? How have I failed? 😂😂😂. The sad story of a cultist's miserable & short life. He's commanding officer responsible for the Intel must've feigned business & sent him in his place at the last minute. He went running probably expecting acknowledgement/reward for diligence 😁😁. He was determined to contribute his part to the chaos victory. Nothing too great could be asked of him.. 😂😂
lol the chaos and space marines are just standing on both sides of the chasm getting shot at. Does an air strike mean nothing to these soldiers? Or maybe artillery?
Personally, I found Bale and Sindri's actions towards that cultist to be overly harsh. The cultist merely warned them of an incoming threat to their plans so they wouldn't be shot to pieces by the Blood Ravens. Killing people because they bring bad news only discourages others from doing so which can lead to being caught by surprise and even defeat.
Why didn't they use the voice actors and looks of the commander units from the originall dawn of war since they look awesome here. The chaos lord has a really sinister look and voice while the ones in DC and SS look much wimpier. The space marine captain seems to have the rage and intelligence here that space marine captains need to have as well as a good voice. The voices and looks of many of the commander units in DC and SS were spoiled by the change.
time to spoil something for you guys :D- Toth was the one who sent the Imperial guardsmen to help the Alpha legion. remember he said he pulled his forces out? anyway MAJOR SPOILER- the daemon inside the maledictum is in fact toth. Toth was a name given to a daemon who fought against the imperium long ago. the eldar trapped his powers in the maledictum. his body unfortunately lived on, so he became an inquisitor to gain knowledge (location of maledictum.
Were there different music by regions in this game, because i remember that when i played this game there was different one that is much more epic. I think it was chaos menu theme. Actually it was this.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sGm4YJKkqOg.html
Not really, Tarkus is 4th Company which was present in the Kronus campaign not long after this, along with the 2nd and 1st. Gabriel's company on the other hand is the 3rd.
