When you don’t have any server in aws console to build new instance how we mentioned the host list in the inventory file

In this particular use case, the inventory file is not passed while executing the playbook. It's just a practice to use them in any Ansible configuration. All that matters is the host section of your playbook. If the host section says Ansible should connect to a managed node defined in the inventory file, you need to pass the inventory along with the playbook command. Again, if you want to avoid passing the inventory file every time you run the playbook, keep it inside /etc/ansible/hosts. Ansible does offer you many ways to automate the tasks you want.

Hi Abhishek , Whenever i am trying to use --vault-password-file while running ansible playbook command , it tells me Error: Problem running vault password script /path. If this is not a script, remove the executable bit from the file. I tried all steps as per google can't find solution

When you used variables for 1st time, changed flag was 0, Not sure the reason. I know t2 micro was already created but this playbook is supposed to be IAC so it should still go ahead and create another t2 micro isnt it?

Most Ansible modules check whether the desired final state has already been achieved and exit without performing any actions if that state has been achieved so that repeating the task does not change the final state. Modules that behave this way are often called ‘idempotent.’ Whether you run a playbook once, or multiple times, the outcome should be the same.

Problem running vault password script /mnt/c/Users/Souvik Roy/Downloads/ansible/ec2/vault.pass ([Errno 8] Exec format error: '/mnt/c/Users/Souvik Roy/Downloads/ansible/ec2/vault.pass'). If this is not a script, remove the executable bit from the file. I am getting this error after running ansible-vault create group_vars/all/pass.yml --vault-password-file vault.pass also tried to change chmod 0600 vault.pass but it was not getting changed , what to do ?
