As a old lady who retired from farmer, this is a wonderful update on life on the land. We had a 4 ton truck to get our grain to the silo!!😅

watched a heap of farming videos ,and i have to say and commend you for your style and presentation .you just tell it like it is , no "talking up" like some of our cousins can get carried away with. first time i've seen 100 ton saucers .you're a good operator .. a pleasure and informative to watch. have you had those header augers lengthened ? .they're bloody long . do you get any cracks in them from the extra wgt ? how many tons in those 75 metre bags. what's with the flags on the header augers ? just with the dust,you probably blow your air filters out each day .just on that saw a great "special tool" /thingemejig for blowing out filters from the states . it reversed with air from the inside out .with a apparatus that fitted over the top of the air filter . gee it moved some dirt .it's on this vid from laurafarms at 10.00/13.22 One Year of Owning A John Deere Tractor ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dgUYDTbpDqU.html

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad that you are enjoying how I try to get the videos across. Yes the augers have been lengthened to get out to our trams. Haven't had any issue with weight or cracking. In the bags it's hard to tell how many tons we are getting in as it depends on the break pressure that you use. But we roughly go off 180t for barley and 220t for Wheat. The flags are on the augers so that the chaser drivers know which header needs unloading, as the headers are both the same you can't tell them apart from a distance but the flag makes a huge difference. And yer we are blowing the air filters out quite regularly as there is a loooot of dust

Went for a drive not so long ago, Brookton thru to Shackleton ,north to Gold fields highway then back to Perth via Merredin and all the side roads in between, the amount of grain we saw stored was huge,still see trucks everyday hauling the stuff,how will we ever move all of this when you've just started harvesting again ? .

The lack of fire appliances on overseas farm videos has surprised me. I assume their environment and weather means its simply not required. Here in Australia EVERY farm from the smallest to the biggest has a fire fighting vehicle. It might only be a slip on 500 litre on tank for the summer but everyone has something. You would never cut hay or harvest without some kind of firefighting appliance close handy.

Where is your John Deere equipment manufactured? In Australia, in the United States, or somewhere else it’s interesting. Your steering wheels on the trucks are on the right hand side and your auger on the chaser is on the right hand side, where all the augers in the United States are on the left-hand side.

Hi young bloke, the flags on the header arms, are they there for any particular reason? Or just because?
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm 11 месяцев назад
So that the chaser driver know who is who. As the headers are the exact same you can't tell which header driver is talking to you, so having the flags makes it nice and easy to know which header you are meant to be going to

@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm 11 месяцев назад
John Deere auto steer requires a minimum speed to activate gps. I think it’s around 3km/h. We do load the bag with out someone in it, it’s pretty good at staying straight if the chaser driver makes sure of before they start h loading

@RichardWagner-l7b 11 месяцев назад
hi mate, why dont you make the inlet for the bagger longer from front to back for ease of unloading the chaser bin?
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm 11 месяцев назад
There's no real reason to, the hopper is big enough and the chaser go fine when unloading into it. We did make it higher though as you can see by the tin on the sides as it was very hard for them to line up when the grain was travelling such a distance and also when there was wind you couldn't unload into the bag
@scottchaffey1514
@scottchaffey1514 11 месяцев назад
Hi, just wondering how much does each harvester hold in their grain bin? How many unloads from harvester to chaser bin until chaser bin ready to unload?
@stratoreyener461
@stratoreyener461 11 месяцев назад
Can be 10T or more depending on the model of headder and as for chasers that would depend on the size of them as well often 2 loads for the 25T to fill but all comes down to size and models. The GT30 i would be a 30T chaser. I could be wrong but that's a rough estimate from working with Claas and not JD I'd guess 10-15T cap on the grain bin

How many hectares can you cut and feed to that bin sight before needing to move?
@tomsbrookfarm
@tomsbrookfarm 11 месяцев назад
we have around 320t of barley storage in our field bins. If the truck can't keep up then we use the silo bags so that we are able to keep harvesting. We will try and harvest as much as we can to one sight before moving. In this case 410ha but in other case it is around 700ha but is depends on what crop we are harvesting and how well it is yielding
