Our final day takes us on excellent meandering roads, down from the mountains via spectacular passes, and into the Red River valley, cradle of Vietnamese civilization. We wind through crops fields, along river dykes, through old towns, until we arrive at the capital, Hanoi. After 10 days in the mountains, the pace and energy of Hanoi will come as a shock at first.
