Following your journey is a joy to watch the two of you experience the trail. Your relationship and individually seems strong, positive and connected in a way we all want and dream of.
Everyone concentrates on the rocks in Pennsylvania and usually fail to actually notice the terrain. Outside of descending into towns and ascending back to the ridge, Pennsylvania is mostly flat ridge walking. It also has a lot of views, but the rocks and lack of water makes it rough. You guys are hiking strong. You got this! geek
Way to go jumping in that water! Oh,, and for hiking 1,200 fricking miles!! You and Chuck are such an inspiration. Thanks for taking me along for the ride. It's getting me even more excited for my own hike next year!
I love following along on your journey. Even if it’s a tough day, you make it seem good. You are taking full advantage of all that the trail had to offer, like the swimming hole/ rope swing. I can tell that you’re enjoying the hike! Even the rocks & humidity ❤
Congratulations on passing 1200, I know the videos are delayed, so you're in the middle of the heat wave, yuk!! The swimming hole was fun and what you needed. Love following along, thank you for lugging a stranger along for plus 1200 miles. Be safe out there.
This is the area of the AT where we hiked for weekend family vacations. Then we "moved to backpacking" in NJ and just played on the trail. You may already be there by now but watch out for the rattlesnakes in NJ. Plus, there are a lot of Bear since they can't be hunted in NJ (they dont like PA either).
You two are bad ass!! But I think that's the military training in both of you! You don't quit!! And I know you two have your "off" days, but for the most part, you're both so up beat!! Just LOVE your videos!!
@heather__hikes I would have never guessed. But I think you hinted at being a nurse?? Nurses are bad ass! I'm retired LEO and nurses were always bad ass!❤😂
You finally took the plunge into the cold water. Proud of you Heather 😊. Sorry I missed you guys when I was doing trail magic in PA. Oh well but glad you’re getting plenty along the way!!
We love to hike from Rt 183 to this awesome little pond! I'd love to know the history behind it. There are some other structures South of the damn breast so it makes me wonder what this was used for. But a great hike to a really pretty place!!
As a PA trail angel, I can confirm the fact that we try to make up for our awful terrain. :D Plus, nobos are almost coming through in the worst heat. I was sad I missed feeding you when you came through (I set up once a week at the parking lot right before the Stay at Swatara hostel), but seeing you ran into Trail Angel Mary, I know you were well taken care of. I know you have left PA by now and I hope you are enjoying NJ, one of my favorite states on the AT.
I see another Gu flavor to avoid 😝! I thought it was about time for that swimming hole to show up, bet it was cold but very refreshing if the heat has been like it has been here in VA.
This happened to me at HF. Our hiking team separated and it was sad to see the one that has been hiking with me since the second week, go home. He had enough, and the others flip flopped because of the heat. Now I’m all alone hiking and it’s so different. But we must move on, hope to meet others along the trail.
@heather__hikes thank you. My husband won 😆, we watch you every day We are 77 and 76 still hike but not as much. You are great enjoy the rest of your hike!!
