Thank you so much for these videos! I have my surgery scheduled for next week and I am so anxious! I have a 6 months baby girl who is exclusively breastfeeding and I’m SO so worried about her and how will I be able to care for her! But im in so much pain and got to the point where I need to have the surgery ASAP before the damage gets worse! I have been watching and rewatching your videos! Thank you for all these tips and updates! Hope you are feeling great now!
❤How are you doing after your surgery, if you don’t mind me asking. I need to have it done. Do you ever have to have another surgery on the same area in a few years?
I wish I'd seen your videos prior to my surgery...they are excellent and describe the recovery process well. I had an L4-5 diskectomy July 2nd, came home to no help with recovery, and just slogged through. It wasn't pretty, but I'm doing better than I have in years. The Physical Therapy began August 6th and I go 2 x per week and work hard, building up what I've lost over 15 years post-injury (mine happened at a dog show) of compensating for increasing weakness and pain on the right side, etc. I'm really excited to be progressing and slowly being able to do things I haven't done in years...and as you said, upon awaking from anesthesia...that horrific sciatic pain was GONE. Onwards and upwards and thank you for your video series, I've enjoyed it!
Hi Ann... Thank you for your videos...im on day 9 from a laminectomy on L2,L3 and L 4 and he did some other stuff on the right side, im walking every day. I have massive bruising around my tailbone. I feel like today is my best so far...the Lord Jesus blessed me with the best caretakers ever..my husband and 2 sons, they are fighting to see who can do the most for me lol, and they get upset if they see me do something for myself ,but its necessary that i start doing things for myself.....the pain in my butt is horrible. In the last few yrs I've had a total hip replacement and a total knee replacement all on the same right side but the recovery process has been the most painful wirh back surgery..i have a good attitude because of the Lord, but im just exhausted from all these surgeries,so tired of being in pain... anyway,i pray that you are no longer in pain and the surgery has helped you live a better life..
Hi Ann, how are you 3 years after spinal surgery? A month ago I did discectomy, just to ask your experience how long you were allowed by surgeon to flex or can bend your spine downward? How’s the experience after the first try of bending?
I have a similar surgery in a few days which will give me 19 days to recover for my wedding and 26 days before my graduation! I’ve been suffering for so long and I hope this is worth it!
❤I totally agree, I would love to know how your doing too honey? I wanted to know how long will the surgery last? Years, do you ever have to have anymore? Hope your doing great, feeling good without your cane. 🙏🏽🫶🏽🥰😇
Hello, Anne! I'm having surgery next month. I have been watching and re-watching your videos and taking notes. Did I miss the video on how to clean yourself after going to the bathroom? I've got a raised toilet seat and I'm researching "aids" for wiping. Please tell me about your success in this area. Thanks!
Hello Anne, I hope this message finds you well. I have seen your sequence of videos about your personal experience with laminectomy. After Day 11 video, have you posted any more videos about your recovery? Thank you, Santiago
Thank you for posting your experience with post op recovery.I had a laminectomy a week ago and my experience was a little rough.Anyway,I’m slowly recovering.🙂
how are you now? I took the surgery in Feb. my thing is im off balance, I have a walker and a nurse because of being home alone. It feel like the bottom of my foot has rocks. Some days is ice cold and others burning. How log did any of this last and if so is it anything I can do?
I just had this surgery done a few days ago, went for my first short walk outside just for some fresh air...walking definitely helps. I think the mental aspect of healing is going to be harder for me than physically recovering, I'm used to being an extremely active person in the gym, with my toddler, etc. Hoping I can get back to normal asap and the numbness will slowly go away in my calf/foot/big toe.
Ruby- I’m getting a laminectomy in 2 weeks. I have a couple questions- where are you at now with your recovery? Did you do anything special pre-op to get ready ? Where were you at 2 weeks after surgery- could you walk an hour? No cane? No raised toilet ? I’m hoping to attend an event about 2 and a half weeks after surgery that requires me to stand for 3-4 hours. Thoughts? Thanks Chuck
I can’t imagine driving 7 days post surgery… you’re amazing!! I’m using a raised toilet seat and thank God for that invention because there’s absolutely no way I could possibly sit on a regular seat….
Medam my 2 questions answer me please Q1) I done 2 weeks before l4tol5 endoscopic microdiscectomy my both lower lateral leg pain not healing why and Q2) my sex life I am able sex in masinary position? Tell me please
Thank you for your videos. Its very clear as to what to expect. Could you give an update about your present situation and if you ever had sciatic pain afterwards. I have a herniating at l5-s1 and is considering surgery
I have a question. I am going to surgery on November 17th L4 an L5. for fusion. Would it be easier to do dresses or would it be easier to do sweatpants for after surgery?
Thank you for sharing your journey. I am scheduled to undergo Lumbar Spinal Fusion in January 2022. Your journey of the recovery process has been a big help in my understanding what's in store for me. The advice about the raised toilet seat and pillow for the trip home is really appreciated. It's been a while since your surgery and I'd like to know how you're doing. Once again, thank you.
My mom had this surgery and now one month post op she has a lot of pain and she can’t even talk for a long period as she gets tired I don’t know how to help
Yeah had surgery already and have saddle anesthesia with incontinence have 1 month since the operation so hopefull, but always good to hear others experience 😁
Hello everyone, I had this surgery back On August 30th 2022. If it’s of any help I can give some detailed updates on my week to week recovery. Let me know and I’ll make the time to type several messages on here. Her videos did help me so much as I was so scared as well. God bless you all!
Hi, I have done l4-l5 lamentomy and desectomy sugery it s 1 month my genital and feet toes are numb , before surgery there was no numbness and also I can't get out of bed it's very painful in my left upper butt . Can you help me please?
@bebeanobraganza982 genital numbness is not good. I don't want you to panic, but it's one of the signs of reharniation. I hope I am wrong here, please share your status when you can as I had a surgery as well about 3 weeks ago.
Hello Anne, I have had my surgery, and as I write this, I am on day 6. I have numbness in the soles of my feet, toes, and the back of my legs which is affecting my sleep and is also stressing me a bit as I am thinking the surgery has failed, but the surgeon has said that this is normal due to the nerve being compressed and also with him moving the nerve. You mentioned that you had numbness. How long did this last for and has it disappeared, or are you still having this issue?
Hi. I flipped out also due to same issues 2 days after. I had numbness in calf, top of foot and big toe. It gets better. Slowly. That’s why I used the cane I was so numb. It took 2-3 weeks before I could walk without numbness making me unsteady. Walking. It is what saved me
There is a place on my calf I can’t feel. I notice it when I shave my legs. Other than that I am good. If I overdo it, my toe goes numb. But that hasn’t happened in a very long time. Again this is a slow heal. Walk. Don’t push going back to work. Get a standing desk if you have a desk job. Give yourself grace.
Thank you for your reply. You are right it does get better, but each day is different. The other day I had no numbness, and today just a little on the balls of my feet and big toes. I also had my first good sleep last night without tramadol, which is a result. As you said, this is a slow healing process, and I am glad I had this surgery.
@@jstenn3843 Hi, I am 4 months in, and I still have a bit of numbness in the soles of my feet; however, over the last two weeks, I have noticed the numbness starting to reduce. I would say it is getting better, and I am now getting better sleep. I have also begun to cover longer distances when walking, but when I push it too much, this can flare up the numbness and pain, so I have now learned to take it easy and not push it too much. My doctor said it could take up to a year for the nerve to heal, and I am noticing the change. Do not feel down if you are still going through pain. Just give it time. The nerve needs time to heal walking and stretching is the key. Don't be sitting around doing anything; I felt this made things worse. If you have any further questions, then feel free to ask.
I’m day 14 I can’t bend I still have numbness did u ever overcome everything that u was dealing with? Or u totally 100% percent now? please let me know
I am working out with personal trainer to prevent bad form and reinjury. I am 100%. That took a year. This is a year healing process. Don’t let anyone fool you. I still have an area in my calf that is numb. I only notice it when I shave my legs. I squat like a catcher to pick things up and do not bend. Try not to bend. Take things very slow. Do not rush. Walk as much as you can and rest.
@gibby35412 my symptoms were 3.5 years old. Before the surgery, the pressure on the nerve resulted in constant pain shooting all the way down to my feet. Physical therapy provided relief for a few days, but later worsened my condition. The surgery certainly relieved the pain. I am not 100% relieved as there are good and bad days, but the pain is mainly limited to hamstring. I am working on my rehab with a therapist.
@@aliqureshi3649 I had the same symptoms. I did the L5-S1 3 weeks ago. Pain I was feeling before the surgery is gone. Still get some pain from time to time but I’m feeling much better. My question to you is how you feeling now after your surgery?
Perla, I am great. I really took care for a year. I wasn't off a year, just careful. Do not rush this or let other people rush you. About school besides kindergarten, the kids will help you. When you get back if you have huggers that like to hang on you, explain and change to high fives or back pat. Squatting, lots of squatting, no bending.
I had the same operation L4/L5 laminectomy/ discectomy. It’s been 4 weeks now. No sciatica, but still have tingling big toe and can tilt the same foot while standing. Can walk okay but go slow to re-train tilt action of foot. Wound area is still sore. But feeling much much better than before operation.
I had exactly the same problem and operation as you, you seem like you are getting better, hope you are doing great! You look so pretty and cute(hope you don't mind me saying that) God Bless and best wishes from UK.
