What a kind man, I know he was happy to have someone to talk trail to. Impressive hiker. New Hampshire is a hikers dream with all the diversity it offers. Keeps you on your toes!
Great hiking day and video. What a blessing to have the hospitality and interaction with the inspirational Chuck Hutchins. I read his encouraging story. And, you saw yet another beaver dam. I would give all the beavers the name of "Clint". "Clint Eats Wood"! 🙂
Wow! Chuck is amazing! I’m almost 70. A novice hiker for sure. I’ve made a goal to hike a mile on the AT in each of the 14 states. I’ve done GA and TN. Hiking Standing Indian in NC with my brother soon. Hopefully visit Damascus this summer. Maybe up to New England this fall. Would love to see the leaves in their fall splendor on the Whites. Thank you and Chuck for your inspiration. Dot from Grayson GA
Chuck is paying it forward as he honors those folks who encouraged him to get back to climbing those 4000 footers. He is truly a trail angel extraordinaire. He inspires me to move past setbacks and live my best life.
Awesome to hear about such age-defying feats! We should all aspire to such stuff. Perhaps his more heroic achievement was getting out of shape when his wife needed him, tho. Obviously, a good man.
You're entering the best (and most difficult) part of the trip, but I know that you're up to it. Now's the time to drop your mileage and savor it...not that you have much of a choice really. You'll see what I mean...
That’s amazing about Chuck/NH 48/4000K 👏🏻😍🙌🏻 after I’m done with the ATT that’s next on my list. I’ve done them virtually. I did part one the 48 in one year and part 2, the 48 seasonally. Then I heard of the grid doing 48 in one month.😮
Wow, what a true trail angel in Chuck! Today I may take a hike in the largest preserved serpentine grassland area on the east coast.. and will try to stop hearing Peter Falk saying…”Serpentine Shelly, Serpentine!” (From the original ‘In-Laws’). From someone born a few miles from Love Canal (on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, Lockport formation) - thank you and your colleagues for all of your hard work!
