Day 148 | The Mahoosuc Notch & Arm | Mud, Sweat & Tears | Extreme Hiking | Appalachian Trail 2021 

Wow that was some stretch! Gotta tell you Kelly you have really got some great video and it seems like you show so much more than other videos I've seen. Thanks for taking me along!

I gasped when Toasty fell on the rocks. He had a rough day.

The famous lemon squeeze !! I recall it well ...I think I was 24 which means 40 years ago... The North East has had more rain than in a century...as you can see from the Whites on there are places where one mile an hour is a good average pace .... I've hiked Mass to Maine AT never any other parts ... At my age the flat Shenandoah part sounds nice ...I have family in Virginia... You kept your spirits up !!!!! That mud ...never encountered that .... Someone hiking alone could get in serious trouble ...happy trails ...this episode was a nail biter !

I've wondered if I at 67 could do this. Nope, but you are amazing! Thank you for letting me experience it vicariously. This truly was the best Notch/Arm video I've seen.

3 years ago a girl fell off of the bog boards and was stuck up to her shorts. Fortunately others came along and helped her out. The boards are dangerous and need a lot of work. Good Luck, Rick

Wow Kelly, you remind me of the Apostle Paul who went everywhere preaching the gospel. That was a wonderful video shot in challenging circumstances. I enjoyed seeing you face your fears and phobias bravely through this extreme hike. What a nice thing for toasty to cook for you. How awesome you saw an old friend. I’m having a marathon move this weekend and watching this gave me the encouragement to unpack more boxes!! Yay us! God is good!!

We had fun in the notch. Slow rolled through there. Took two hours just laughing and joking around. My friend has claustrophobia. He skipped all the caves

Hey Kelly, what a gnarly section of trail! I so appreciate the extra pain and effort you put in climbing a treacherous part of trail and still filming it. It would have been much easier if you put the camera away so you had both hands to climb with, but that wouldn't be taking us along. You are a frickin badass and it shows! Thanks for taking us with you through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I can't believe the amount of erosion on that section of trail since the late 1990s. I don't remember ANY rebar ladder rungs driven into the rock back then. Sure looks easier, in some places, harder in others. Thanks for taking us along! 👍

I was totally singing “Here comes sunshine” when you summited! What an amazing moment. I twisted my ankle last month in a muck hole like that! I am surprised toasty didn’t lose his shoe! Those purple mushrooms are called violet webcaps. I have never seen them before this year. You really captured the chaos of todays section. No video will ever replace hiking it but you did a damn good job. Nothing like hiking 100% of the daylight regardless of how many miles you did! Maybe toasty trail name should be chef! First day in Maine was crazy 🤣. It was like the AT through everything possible at us all in one day. One of my friends hated it and was pissed all day. I loved it but wow long day. We stopped at the shelter before the Notch at 6 pm.

when scrambling downhill, is it not better to face the slope, insted of going down facing out. if there is a problem you are much better off being able to grab a root/rock when you face the slope. just a thought.
