You have done amazing through it all! Praying for you! I have enjoyed the New Hampshire views! We had our honeymoon in the White Mountains and of course remember Franconia Notch! Those muddy shoes gave a perspective of your journey that was not fun. It is sad that the beautiful water views can also bring the muddy walking. I am with you and agree with all the wonderful comments!

I worked my butt off to get into a RN program. I was accepted. I had one and a half semesters left when i quit. Academically I was doing fine. Clinically was doing fine. That was 22 years ago and its to this day one of my biggest regrets in life. I know your not asking for advice. Rebound, please dont quit!!!! You're doing it!!! Dig deep. Don't quit!!!!❤

Rebound, obviously, we all want you to keep going and want you to complete the AT for your own achievement. At the end of the day, your health, (physical, mental, spiritual) is most important. I watch other thru hiker videos, and it seems most of them are in little tramilies where they can lean on each other for support and keep each other motivated. I know whatever decision you and Bud make will be in your best interest, God bless.

If you have decided to stop your thru hike in Andover, so be it. You have nothing to prove to anyone and you know that. After all of the miles you've already hiked, in all kinds of weather and conditions, certainly you're well capable to hike the rest of the way to Katahdin. When hiking conditions make the journey no fun and you're feeling as you described here, leaving the trail sits in your headspace and takes up all the space up there leaving no room for any other contemplation. If you didn't get off yet and are still trekking north, that sign is so close. Consider this thru hike only the miles you have left and not all of the ones behind you to weigh you down. Pack lighter thoughts. There might be a few more rainy, cold, boggy days... AND there will 100% surely also be bright, sunshiny, dry, BEAUTIFUL Maine days with breathtaking views and incredible stories to bring back with you, from start to finish! Psalm 18:33 Habakkuk 3:19 Also, His steadfast love endures forever. HAPPY trails☀️

Oh Rebound, I just can’t even imagine what you’re going through! So close, but it’s gotta feel so far away! NOBODY would blame you for going home! I pray for you to have the strength mentally and physically to be able to finish, but if can’t, you can’t! You can always come back next year and finish this last section?

There is nothing worse than cold wet days. I was I. The BWCA and had 3 very wet days and the second to the last day, I woke up to snow on my tent. I threw in the towel. So, even though my thru was in a very dry year, I know that kind of weather. If you can, go off trail for a zero or two. Warm up, and dry off. Wait until you are mentally and spiritually feeling better. Wait for the sun to come out and give the trail that sunny day. If you still feel like leaving after that day, then leave without any regrets. You have given the trail such a big effort. Our age does play into how far we can push ourselves. I wish it didn’t. Many times I wish that I had started going on trails earlier but alas. Many prayers for comfort, safety, discernment. I will leave you with this question. In life off the trail, when wrestling with a weighty problem, what tools did you put into place to move forward with a decision? Prayer yes, but did you ask yourself to do a pros vs cons list? Or do you go back to the reason you decided to attempt another thru? Are those reasons still I play or do they no longer matter? Rebound, I am just asking not judging. I can see you are very tired and worn out. We are at this point. I wonder if instead of the Andover jump off point. You just rest. If you decide it is time to go, I will suggest you go and summit Kahtahdin before you go home. You have earned that moment. ❤ Sookie

Hi Sookie. I appreciate this response more than words can express. I have two other friends who are thru hiking next year, and I've often thought about what I would say if they were about to get off trail. You did a great job! ❤️ Thank you for being a friend. As you know, I'm still on trail, and in spite of myself and my weakness, God provided the perfect solution at the perfect time! I'm so grateful it happened this way, because it certainly boosted my faith, and gratitude towards a God who knows better than I do what is best! I'm so glad you have shared my journey! ❤️💖❤️

You've been through all these scenarios many times before on the trail. Cold rain, mud, falling, scary, challenging conditions, and you've overcome and continued on. I just want to remind you that you're doing awesome. Have some confidence in yourself. You know if you go home, you'll still feel like you need to finish the trail. You're so close. You can do this. You've proved it, and you deserve finishing it. I know it isn't easy, and it's very scary. We all have faith in you. You should, too. What if you didn't have the option to get off trail and you had to finish? The only thing that I've been through that's even close is having my first baby. My daughter started showing signs of distress. I had all my kids natural, no epidural or anything. They had to attach a wire to the top of her head to monitor everything while I was in labor. I had asked what that wire with the monitor was months before when we had a tour of the delivery rooms. They said thats only for emergency situations. So ironically, they used it in my delivery. I had to sign emergency c section papers just in case. I just kept yelling. I want to go home, let me go home, over and over. Of course, I couldn't go home, and why I even though I could was nutty. But your brain isn't right while in labor, I guess. I was 20 yrs old and very, very scared. I had to go on and deliver my daughter, not knowing what could happen with each passing second. Everyone was trying to settle me down. I started hyperventilating and had to breathe into a bag. But that gave me the chance to collect my thoughts. I put the bag down, pulled my big girl panties up, and started doing what I had to do to have my baby. Finally, all 9.5 lbs of her were born and healthy. And now she owns her own restaurant in Door Co Wisconsin. And I went on and had 3 more kids. Lol To continue on or not is your decision. But I wanted to point out that you're doing better than you think, and all the scary and negative thoughts are just that. Our fight or flight kicks in during stressful situations. We're here for you no matter what you decide. But I know if you continued, you would be so happy in the end. Sorry, my post is so long. Lol Please don't quit on a bad day. I just want you to be ok with your decision. Continued prayers, my friend, for safety and strength ❤ If you ever want to talk or text, I can give you my number. Bigs hugs 🫂 ✌️🫶🤜🤛🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Can you afford to take a bunch of zeros till the weather or the trail improves ? Which it will. It will get hot and dry again .. hotter than you will appreciate believe it or not . Smart move with the pants .. keep them dry .. legs can handle more than the rest regarding cold . Feet are challenging 😢 Falls even without injury are difficult 😢 add onto that how you feel physically and emotionally. And a fall is “defeating” Bad time to make a decision. Do you think you are having a little PTSD , fear of success, fear of folks disappointment, some mind game going on that may be making it harder for you to get past NH? I’m sure you will consult with your higher power and find comfort there . Good luck Rebound ! ❤

By the time you read this, you will probably be off the trail (since these videos are several days behind your trek). Regardless of whether you made it to the end, or decided to end it early, I just want to remind you that your worth to God is unchanging. He won't ask you, "Did you finish the entire trail?" Maybe this song will minister to you. "When its all been said and its all been done He'll ask you, 'Did you go my way child; did you know My son?' " ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2MrZ9CKKD9o.html
