I am a 2016 Olympic Alternate and former NCAA athlete and have deferred my senior year at the University of Utah to come back to elite gymnastics and try for a spot on the 2021 Olympic Team. This channel documents my journey and gives insight into the life of someone preparing for the Olympics!

1. You SLAYED Day 2! 2. Thank you to you and Jonas both for being so kind to my little girl (Hadlee in the pink shirt with your name on it.) It is days later and she still talks about how you waved at her and how Jonas "actually said hi to me!" She's a level 2 and struggling with a mental block on her back handspring. She got it the next day because she said she wanted to make you and Simone proud. All your hardwork and training matters and is appreciated, not just by competition judges but by the little girls and boys everywhere rooting for you! (:

Congratulations for doing so well at Nationals. You are such a inspiration. While you were competing at Nationals I was competing at the Xcel Nationals Championships in Wisconsin Dells! For my age group, in Xcel Gold, I came in 2nd place on beam and 3rd place all around! Friday night I was able to see you compete and was cheering for you the whole. I am so excited that you ,add it to the Olympic Trials. We are cheering for you... we know you can do it!!!!😀

I've been waiting for this video! You were AMAZING! Your floor video is the second most watched video on USAG's YT channel because we couldn't see your floor in the coverage (110k views - a-hem, quite a few are me because that last pass just gets me every time), even as USAG tweeted the end of your floor routine as "that Day 2 feeling". The joy and true competitor's spirit you bring to your gymnastics is so inspiring to watch, and a real antidote to what this sport can sometimes be. As I said in a comment on a video last year, you're a really good example to the young gymnasts out there who see you work and try, and try again; it was lovely to see so many of them supporting you because they feel encouraged by you. It didn't surprise me that you got Sportsperson of the Year, and I hope that others also note why you got it. You're still improving, and I know you're going to smash it at trials. Thank you for allowing us all to watch your journey. Onwards to trials, and then to Tokyo!

Thank you so much for posting. I just LOVE seeing behind the scenes. Its so cool! 😄. Gosh, I can't BELIEVE how a),so many good placed were closed after the meet (granted, it was late but with so many people flooding in for the Champs you'd think some would stay open later) ; b) the lack of healthy food choices . It's like the businesses around the hotel / arena had ZERO preperation for hundreds of top elite athletes swarming the area... Anyways, wish we'd got more (any!) live footage of you on day 3 - the coverage was crap all round TBH!!!

Kala! Keep the momentum going! And yes your beam and bars scores should be a lot higher than what they are giving you but from one competition to the next, your improvements are huge- especially on floor! And you stayed on beam- you totally fixed your are positions! And your presentation is soooo much better and keep stretching those splits and shoulder angles and your scores will come up! Like I said you are very consistent and you are team material along with Simone, Suni, Jordan, and Jade! I’m telling you, you are the only ones that can do what you do gymnastically with that level of difficulty!!!! You got this!!!!!

There you go!! I’m incredibly happy for you, so proud!! You did great. I get the championship with one day delay but no complains here. At least I get to see you all amazing girls (Chelsea is a girl too, compared to my age). Chelsea is so incredibly brave... But anyway, this is about you. That floor routine on day 2 had me crying! The joy on your face, seeing your coaches right there with you and I'm pretty sure I heard Bob scream "get it kid" on the last pass... ugh. My heart is so full watching that. That's what the sport is about.

I cried so many times by myself in my room during trampoline and tumbling nationals I can't even count the number of times. Just from sheer exhaustion, stress, physical pain, etc., and I wasn't even anywhere near your level! It's normal, and even helpful. I even cried a few times as a coach at nationals. It's an exhausting week.

Mykayla: best of luck for Olympic Trials. Be calm and confident. Don't rush your elements. Act as an olympian and you will be an olympian! No matter the result, your comeback is already a successful one: you made the national team (with just a few months of elite training!), you were an alternate in Worlds 2019 , you medaled in Gymnix , and got the second highest vault in Nationals and a sports award!

what is wrong with the judges, i have been an elite gymnastic coach and two different college coaching. I had a standing ovation in level ten at nationals for having many gymnastic champions. I do know my gymnastic, but it feels some of the judges are not judging you fairly. you have a beautiful spirit. and you will be able to work out the out-of-bounds on the floor, and the slightly bent knees on your first pass. you have not peaked yet and you don't want to at the last meet. your floor is the second-highest score in the competition. on beam i would do pressure sets with the gymnasts, then the sports psychologist told me to believe they will make it if they can handle the pressure in the gym they will be able to at the meet, they delivered. keep drinking water as you rotate to each event. you probably know all this. I know you can doo this.

That Beam series that you hit on Day 2 had the audience SCREAMING. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the night, especially after watching your RU-vid video for Day 1 and seeing how frustrated you were with yourself for falling, it was so exciting to see you prove to yourself that you still got it!
