Thanks for letting us walk with you! I really appreciate the extra work you do on your hikes for us very small, but probably steadily growing fan crowd! Also i love the critter counter. I wonder if it will be replaced by a "Stung by" counter later in summer :-) Ah, and one question: Why doesnt the missis ever walk with you? (or is walking just something crazy foreigners do?)
Thanks for the love. I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t enjoyable. It’s fun to see what I can create, especially on hikes that turn out to be a little more mundane. Let’s hope we can just stick to counting the critters without becoming their prey. As for the Missus, that’s one of the reasons why she doesn’t hike as often anymore. She was stung by the dreaded Japanese hornets a few years ago now and isn’t enthusiastic about summer hiking anymore. A second sting has the potential to produce an anaphylactic shock. The other reason is we have a little critter of our own to deal with. I’ll try and drag her out at some point. At least it’d be nice to have someone pick up the camera on those long shots and save my legs!
@@williewalks i share her fear. Those hornets are a fucking hiking nightmare. And thx for basically going the track twice: One time for the camera shot and one time to get the camera back. But hey, double calories burned! :-)
@@Gemueseknolle No worries. I'm thinking next year I can sit on my arse at home and release all my walking back to camera videos and say I redid the trail from Tokyo!
I was very scared near the Mino-o Visitor Center surrounded by many monkeys. I often go to Katsuo-ji Temple near my house, and it is interesting to see so many Daruma there. Your videos are beautiful and will help me when I shoot videos.
I have a daruma doll. A friend brought it for me from Japan as a keepsake. I've treated him very badly... I haven't colored his eye. As far as I know, if you don't make your goal or get your wish, you have to throw the poor fellow away. And I don't want to throw mine away! So he remains blind... I'll probably get cursed or something for doing that.
What I've heard, is that if you achieve your goal, you should return him to the temple you bought him from to be burnt to death, so I guess he's doomed anyway.
