Ok ended up slightly more negative than planned, I think I might need to take a few days and just chill with the game and see if I can figure things out... ▼Songs Coffee Talk 2 OST #TekuFlat #bmx #bmxstreets
Thanks for not just glazing the game to glaze it! It's be so frustrating to see so many people think that the game is just 'difficult'. Difficult and broken are very different and recognizing them comes with lots of gaming experience. People are allowed to enjoy this game, but I refuse to be told its a perfect masterpiece that I just happen to suck at. I had to 'learn' pipe too, but I remember it being very fun, extremely intuitive, rewarding, and not that long of a process. This game frequently feels like throwing shit at a wall with your eyes closed hoping something sticks.
I do think there is a huge learning curve but there's no doubt some janky shit. Which is pretty wild considering the time it's been worked on, that said I don't know the first thing about game development or coding. I have seen Old Potato do some really cool and smooth looking stuff on this engine, so the potential is there with the skill. One cool thing about spins in this game is you really have to finesse the analog stick to get your spins to look smooth and not start/stop. You gotta get the rotation speed right.
5:09 "Maybe a bug. I dunno." The BMX Streets experience summed up perfectly. I'm in the same boat. The game doesn't feel consistent and I'm constantly questioning if I suck or if the game sucks.
Pipe took me months to learn controls and make the tricks smooth but when I finally learnt u can ride soo clean, way clener then on the computure verision
My biggest issue with this game is it feels more bmx vert-park not bmx street... the map has so much potential but it feels horrible ... there is no flow from spot to spot. I spend more time cranking around looking for something to ride than in real life skate and sessions actually have the street-city vibe that I thought was going to be in here. There is not enough spots to express creativity and that's what makes street riding so individualistic. It for sure feels like it's a early access game. The 54$ price tag and 7 years of waiting I assumed the game would of been way more evolved than pipe but at times it just feels worse but the potential is there. If I knew for sure he was going to be adding a ton of updates and or put some early access tag on the game I'd be content but part of me feels like mash is good with the state of the environment and I'm not. Hopefully some mods will make some actual street maps .. sorry for rant 😅
I agree i can literally think of so much tech jibb tricks even basic moves seem impossible but whats funny i can still ice pick stall on dave mirra bmx 😂 but they cant figure it out here seems super suspect like a easy money grab like how are u guna charge for a game then charge more for add ons n fake promises of better tomorrows
@@rowdrowd5738 i would much rather be able to do stalls than flips but at the same time dave mirra had both so whys that even boiling down to that 😂the more i play the more i kinda feel like this mash games has never really rode street bmx just what they seen on tv from the x games
Exactly this. Tbh, I have some room in my life for the Spillway Streets in the first area - big jumps 'n fast rides - but it's not what I would want to buy this for. And then you leave that part behind and... that is also not _it._
Maybe i just played Pipe differently but im loving Streets alot. There are things that i would change like i tend to overturn on vert airs, i think rollouts could be snappier, pull up bars need ro return please for the love of god, ETs are missing, pedaling looks hilarious, and in my opinion the addition of a Front/Back brake mechanic could be amazing just saying. Overall im really liking the game just needs some fine tuning
yeah im also frustrated by the lack of pull ups in general, not only pull up barspins to bunnyhop/manual were a great way to start a line but you could also pull up your front wheel on smaller obstacles, bumping rear wheel on curb, dropping from smth without bunnyhop etc. it felt very natural
Something I found today that we didn't have in pipe is corkscrew spins. Use the flip button before you spin and instead of moving the left stick forward or back to flip, move it left or right to do corked spins. Seems to be working consistently also
I was really happy when I bought the game. Then realising that mash lowered the price, really pissed me off. I managed to get a refund from steam and buy the game back at the cheaper price. In my opinion worth the 39 euros. The challenges are really difficult but that gives me a reason to play the game, love it. I really like the transitions, super smooth.
My opinion on this game I love it for what it is. I still dont regret the 54 € i spent. He really tried to deliever a perfect game and something went so wrong. I would've loved pipe just better and not something so different. As someone with over 5000 hours in pipe its just weird not being able to do tricks iam are used to. 1. Why are there so less tricks ? No xup/superman/nothing 2. Grind physics are a nice touch to add more steeze but they seem to work inconsistently besides tooth or ice at least for me 😄 3. Manuals are soo different and sensitive that its not as smooth as in pipe 4.the pedaling looks incredible off compared what it aready looked like idk how that happened. And i hate that every air/flip is assisted. I kind of worried for that after seeing the gameplay.. i really would love be able to do my 'own' spins. Bmx streets is such a great game with huuuuge potential and modders hopefully fix everything what needs to be fixed. Mash has to work closer with the people that made pipe so legendary!
really excited to see what you do with this game, been following since PIPE released on PS4, this game had a really rough release but with all the new tech, i think it’ll be so much better than PIPE with a few bug fixes and some more experience
ngl i wish grinds would work in this game similar to session just as comparison! it feels like some stuff in bmx streets has magnets and that just ruins lots of things! and the whole the same button/trigger and stick combo does 3 different tricks also fcks you up often when you wanna do something and then it makes you backflip or whatever.
You can get rid of that flat spot on the tyre by increasing the psi to the max. I feel like it's a bug and the bulge is supposed to stay at the bottom, not spin with the tyre.
Pipe 2.0 gameplay is overall better than streets. Riding ramps in general and spinning and turning while riding normally is worse in streets. Hopefully mash fixes and makes streets gameplay more similar to pipe because riding park in pipe actually felt good and was intuitive unlike streets
It’s because your used to pipe. . . If you give streets time, I played for most of the day yesterday, and now it’s starting to feel amazing. The control is there you just have to learn ut
always how pipe felt for me, never really played it much, but this one has me addicted. It's not perfect, but there IS something about the physics that just feels really good
THANK YOU for addressing the sketchy price drop issue and how people like me got basically screwed out of $15. i was able to refund so im fine but its just such a hassle and feels incredibly scummy to me. i just dont really trust Mash anymore. don't trust this game is even gonna stay at 40 at this point. i just want mash to actually address it instead of just stealth dropping the price.
Was definitely pretty pissed the price got dropped, I'm in same boat as you, I've been waiting since release of pipe so was going to pay whatever regardless. Another thing I haven't heard anyone touch on which I tried out was faster or slower bars/ whips with analog stick speed like he implemented in pipe, but so many small things missing, like even pull up bars, suicide bars etc so wild since pipe was the test and then remove the things that worked so well
Everyone on here. Listen up. The secret to control on this game legit. Using an elite 2 controller with the joysticks on the heaviest setting. It feels so so much better I promise u. Use that and the half ball with the circles in it for the right stick mainly but both if u have them. My gameplay has been 50x more fun. I almost broke my other controller because of how mad I was getting an it’s new lol but just a regular Xbox controller don’t get u control. The bike moves weird when u try to pump. U need the ability to have very precise fast or slow controlled movement in this game. Which is what u want in a game of this standard. But u need a controller that will play it the way the game is designed. Once u get good. This game is awesome. Yes there are bugs. But if u love bmx u will not regret getting a good controller the one exactly like I said or if another has weighted sticks that’ll prolly work too. But you will not regret the investment. I can’t ride right now so this has been a real life saver.
My only issue with it is the manuals, ice and tooth picks since they defo dont work as intended (compared to pipe) and the pumping and flipping feels like you have to press too many different buttons which just makes it 100x harder to do it
I almost refunded this game twice within the first two hours. First time because the game wouldn't recognize my A button press/hold to enter the game, even though it recognized my A press to confirm autosave, was very annoying. Got that figured out my enabling Steam input and enabling the Streets profile in there. Then after I did get to play, I was just having a very hard time coming to terms with the controls and damn near rage refunded. But after roughly 6-8 hours I'm glad I stuck with it and I'm glad I own it. I'm still pretty much hanging in the opening ditch area but I'm having a ton of fun putting together gnarly runs down the ditch mega ramps lol. I find that the game feels much better when doing big tricks over big jumps. Game falls to absolute shit when trying to do little cheeky stuff. That challenge that you talked about yesterday, the one where it's pretty tough to get the speed needed: I tried that challenge 176 times in a row before I made it down. The first time I actually made it down I got all 4 challenge rewards in one shot. I was glad because I did NOT want to do that shit again lmao. I like that kind of thing though, think of it as boss battles. This is definitely the "Soulslike" sports game lmao.,
when you do challenges, for most of them you can set your own session markers. so that tire ride one that fucks you on the position for some stupid reason, you can just reposition your marker.
I think the money thing is alright, he probably wanted to charge a lot of money, then realized it’s not a perfect game and everyone was complaining about the game and price, so he caved and lowered the price. As long as people get their money back then I see it as him trying to do a good thing actually.
thing is people arent getting that $15 back it seems. witch is incredibly scummy to do to ur biggest supporters tbh, makes me really dislike Mash and makes him just feel really sketchy
@@tjbullis1491you b*tch about 15 bucks after waiting 8 years on a game? You claim money back buying clothes also and they lower the price the week after or when buying food in the supermarket? You guys are pathetic. I will need to put out 500 bucks PLUS the game just to be able to play it at all
I think it’s worth thanking the developers on Steam for releasing the game now in this form, rather than waiting another six months for everything to be fixed. p.s. they also need money to do something. The price of 20 dollars is adequate, everyone will buy it anyway, there is no alternative)
Its not negative to speak ur peace about a product especially with the history i wish they focused on the basics being able to controll the avatar and bike together and separately
My personal opinion on this, was super hyped for the game, the flip mechanics are what I was looking for, love the way it reminds me of skate 3 with the challenges and all, but overall, with the current state I am personally not enjoying the game, especially for it's price tag. Perhaps it will grow on me but as of right now I'm not sure
Played the hell out of pipe and love it till this day. This game is ok, but realistically he should have just added DLC maps, riders and whatever else to make that a full game. On another note, how did you change maps? I’m still on the intro map and really hate it.
I will say it looks really good for literally just releasing (imo) like think ab session when it first dropped, I think this game has some crazy potential. Plus if they drop in sales the price is finna drop
Game doesnt not one bit feel 8 years better then pipe. Infact when i played pipe i played it for years off n on iv played this game 2 days now and got pissed off and turned it off both times and tbh couldnt care less if i never played it again. Looks way better then it plays
I was looking forward to buying this game until I saw the price of it. Will be holding off till it improves a lot. In the meanwhile BMX Bastards demo is enjoyable.
i found that the sensitivity of turning was really inconsistent and frustrating as well as quite often i couldn’t land something that was totally landable
Nosepick grinds rotating like this can be counter-acted with the left stick. Triggers help some but not nearly enough. Manuals being jank can also be fixed by adjusting the left stick back and forwards a bit as well. Seems overly complicated and it isn't shown anywhere in the game either
People on Reddit and RU-vid saying that people are just mad because they’re expecting Pipe controls, don’t make a lot of sense to me. If you had a game like call of duty or any FPS switch the intuitive controls of left stick move, right stick look, the game would be unplayable. Saying it’s a skill issue due control issues doesn’t make a game challenging. It makes not fun to play. People are willing to hope into a difficult gaming experience if the gameplay is fun. The biggest problem with BMX streets is the game isn’t intuitive or consistent to play and just becomes extremely frustrating.
My image is mostly flatland honestly (like Japan has had a strong flatland culture for decades), but street and other styles seem to be evolving now, especially with little kids (a bit like skateboarding)
This game looks good and bad at the same time. It's strange that some tricks were taken out. I had the thought that more tricks would be added, lol. I don't have the game yet, but I heard you say x-ups aren't there. I remember in PIPE, you could even do one handed x-ups. And if I remember right, you could even do an x-up in the air, hold it and land in a manual. I wonder if there's hidden tricks like there was in PIPE. Suicide barspins I think was a hidden trick. Along with supermans and nothings. I'd like to support the game. But not if it's going to stay like this. Especially for U.S. $40.. If it's going to have updates, I'll buy it right away.. But also, seeing how long it took to go from PIPE to this, who knows how long updates will take. I'm hoping Mash and his team still want to improve the game, and they didn't just give up on it and released what they had (this) and plan to walk away. That almost seems like what this is. Which I hope I'm wrong. But they and any play testers had to know this was kinda janky of a game. But also, maybe there are/were just some things they simply couldn't get to work how they wanted to. Hopefully he can figure out who bought the game at the original price and refund the difference to those who didn't go for a full refund. If he doesn't, I don't think there will be any updates for this. Time will tell..
I’m just baffled he did just make PIPE but expanded on it. Apparently from many comments, it seems like things are taken out, flow is different and overall feel took a step backwards as it took a few forwards
Should've been $20 as an early access and once more polished, released at $40. There's a lot of promise here - the controls seem logical, I enjoy the graphics and sounds, and the multiplayer is huge. Sadly, I couldn't get passed the intro menu screen regardless of what I tried via suggestions from the community. I got the refund and will definitely try again in a few months.
You actually waited. I couldn't wait. I had to play shredders so I purchased one for it. And to see how much better session would look... I should have waited 😂
Oh and lemme warn you the PS5 controller is extremely fragile!!!!!! I'm on my second one and I take care of my stuff. I dont have friends over... or kids. Or big animals.
@@hkgt333 if you aren't a Sony die hard. And don't wanna play Gran Turismo or need to transfer your gta profile... then by all means. I'm a Sony diehard even though Sony sucks 2024. The controller is brittle.. I do like the effects it has it is cool when my car is idling and such and "feeling" how different each one is powered through the controller.... but if your like my younger brother (38) who isn't into that "fluff" the sturdier Xbox controller is the wave. It's funny cause last Gen the Xbox vibration function and triggers felt better. No question if you had good hands you could tell. Sony literally made the dual sense as a reaction like Nike did with react sole technology after adidas boost. I think the Xbox games go on sale more frequently. And again I'm typing this to you as I look down and see I'm wearing Sony ps socks. Sony clock on my gaming desk and too many Sony playstation shirts. It's nostalgic for me. Like coca cola. Both are crappy companies. Lol!!! Like Rockstar has become.
I had an eye on this game for many years and yesoday when it came out it was 56€ on steam and now its 38.99 but im usually playing on consoles so i think i will wait until it drops on PS5 and xbox or just for it to be on sale instead. I bought pipe about a year ago and i was so disappointed by that game and by the look of it i dont really think this is going to be any better. (No offense to those who love pipe)
I'm a huge Session player, never knew about Pipe but saw gameplay of this from Nightspeeds(?) and thought it looked like a lot of fun. Followed you and Potato over this past weekend, and well.. It's a fairly pricey game, and I get it. Years of work, etc., but the level of jank is quite offputting. I'm used to jank, I'm a Session fan, but.. I think I'll give it a couple weeks before I commit. It's quite a steep price for someone like me. I hope it turns out great, because it looks fun. I just don't wanna commit to it just yet.
Paid full price the minute it dropped.. it's janky.. shit happens - I honestly don't care at this point i'm just happy to have a decent BMX game after so many years Hopefully Mash becomes a bit more vocal an communicates more with us to explain the situation an how he plans to fix things etc
@@therealcheb cause honestly I don't care enough to jump through all the loopholes to refund plus i've already gone past the 2 hour limit - the time i'd waste chasing the refund to me is worth alot more than the measly £20 i'd get back in the long run
Your a very negative person mash isn’t a multimillionaire game designer what he has brought to the table is great iv been waiting for a game like this to come out since 2008
The worst thing is the inconsistent feeling of everything. Like sometimes it feels incredible but then 3 seconds later the jank appears. Updates and mods will hopefully drag this game out the mud.
I agree with the price chance part, it's honestly left a sour taste in my mouth and he hasn't even bothered to reply, post a message, an announcement, nothing. Are people going to get the difference back? Doubt it. Is he going to honor that difference some other way? Doubt it. That imo is BAD business practices and I don't agree with it. I mean we supported the hell out of this man for years and then it kinda feels like he just succumbed to the people not happy about the price [justifiably after all this], meanwhile the people supporting and paying a full $60 (US here) after tax. Now the people who paid full, then see it price dropped are irritated, then the people who refunded cause it was too much are irritated so you'll think they'll re-purchase? I mean...Im happy to support the game and will still give it a chance, but I'm gonna be real, I'm not happy with Mash's decisions and actions regarding this. He's had more than adequate time to figure these things out. Idk, again, I WANT to like this game, but there's just so much that's keeping me from doing that at the moment. From the release to the current state of everything...I don't know..I just expected more. The actions he chooses from this point will decide the fate of this game.
He had no choice but to lower the price (still needs to be reduced) people were refunding as fast as they were buying and then flaming the game in reviews. Sucks when you have been waiting for this for 8 yrs then you get a second demo that's arguably worse.
to me... the map and complete lack of a custom character and customization is the biggest miss to me. i REFUSE to believe Mash was working on this map this entire time, this map looks like it was thrown together a few months to a year a MOST. even that seems generous idk man there are many modded maps for PIPE that are better than this.
Everyone’s sugar coating it with this game. It’s so bad. Going back and playing pipe feels like a dream. You can aim at anythings you want, do the trick you planned to do. In streets the steering and pedaling are way too squirrelly and it’s impossible to do fine movements to line up tricks
@@BMXJergenbro you can literally see in this video that you can’t do very technical lines. This game seems to bug out a whole lot more in pipe. Everybody thought they were getting an updated pipe, not a step backwards. Anything you can do in this game you can do better on pipe
Naaa i just spend the last four hours playing and its left me depressed im not even joking 8 years we wanted. Id consider it a broken mess its in no way better than pipe.
I kept getting a black screen n I had to refund which in an hour my money was back in my account.. unfortunately I have to wait for console.. 24 years riding bmx and the price to me was better than I thought.. I mean I was expecting it to be around 65 usd or more
I also noticed in pipe if you came to a stop the character would put his foot down and now the character just comes to a stop and keeps his feet on the pedals just sort of floats there 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
This is extremely unfortunate but also a major wake up call for me, this entire situation even the XL situation just goes to show that these devs have zero clue what they’re doing. Which would be most of us but again we gotta give them credit for trying their best but sucks that the game isn’t what they tried to make us think it was.. i’be definitely lost hope in the gaming industry, it’s all just a cash grab now a days.. gaming isn’t even what it use to be. 😢 Also if anyone wants to not waste money on a early access, you can just use Torrent and just download a free version of it. I’m not wasting $40 on a game that should be free. If this is $40. Riders republic should be $4000 😂😂
Whole experience rubbed me the wrong way. Paid $60 usd for an unfinished game, left the menu open trying to fix the black screen and now cant get a refund after seeing its $40. Almost just don't want to touch it. I feel scammed.
You guys complained every month that he will never release the game n how slow work he is doing - now he released it while in reality would need another year, so now you complain about that instead
@@stefanallard3084 Never complained about it once except for this comment. Kept my mouth shut and was patient. I would've happily waited another year instead of getting a half finished game.
@@chrisradca3245 but most people complained, including myself, and now we got a half finished game instead. I hope he draws out the process of putting in on consol and improve the game instead
Really hope someone can help me with this When I start the game I can get a couple bar spins even a whip but then it’s like it just doesn’t register my trick input but I can still turn pedal and go slow mo
@@eggy2474thanks for your comment it does work that way for the first three tricks and then it just stops letting me do anything other than spin flip and ride
not a fan of having to hold the triggers to do things like backflips...i get why it's like that, so tricks are more doable, but it just feels weird (like riders republic). i'd rather it be like decenders where you just pull back on the left stick to flip. Also, so tired of wallriding EVERYTHING, like my guy is trying to wallride curbs and i just get stuck and fall over. not fun.
Go right and downhill from the downtown teleport point and you should see a multi-story carpark on the left side, you have to pedal all the way to the top though
I have a lil over 15 hours in and honesty, I am having fun, but my god everything's is still a struggle. It does get better once you get used to the sublte jank but way harder then it should be Also, I don't understand the lack of communication regarding the price change. I paid the full amount and was happy to do so at launch but to lower it with no notice as to why it just confrims the point that it was overpriced from jump. Hope they offer something to the people that paid full price whether that being a refund on the difference or in game content. Lastly the dude needs to make a statement, a video, something your loyal fans have been patient and suppritive over the years so hopefully he dont forget that.
This would be great game if Pipe and Session won't exist. I just can't belive that the author loose the game vision that Pipe bring. Lot of mechanics and animations are way worser than Pipe or lost completely. I was curious how close to Session it is going to be with simulation level but I didn't expect it will be step back relating to Pipe. I still don't understand it.
The worst part about this honestly is the price. I look at this and think "hmm, I could buy this, or I could get Hell Divers 2 and just keep playing pipe", which pipe still offers better content imo. (from what I've seen). I feel like 20$ - 25$ tops is what it should be at.. Almost 60$ AUD for this is kinda a joke. And like dude, he's developing a game for how many of his playerbase, and did you see the patch notes? "Minor issue"..... Thats it? Whats the issue? Did you patch anything? If so what? He could take it a bit more serious and put a bit more effort... Just all seems shady af.
I thought people were just complaining because they suck. But nah this game is broken and the controls are terrible. Why change so much when pipe was already great?
truly incredible that the dev made pipe, an incredibly fun game, and then smashed the shit out of it with a hammer. i'm not enjoying the map at all, the game feels weird as fuck compared to pipe, the physics are janky as fuck, the missions are HORRIBLY designed, and because the physics are so janky and and the missions are horribly designed you wind up with these missions that feel like they're not even fucking possible. there's one where you have to gap over a rail and do a perfect tweaked 360 toboggan and you can't even clear the rail because you can't hop high enough to fully clear it AND either the grind or wallride magnetism tries to slam you into the middle of the rail. i have well over 100 tries on this one alone and the closest i've come involved physics jank bouncing me off the top of the rail. also the manuals are absolute dogshit. i'm beyond frustrated with this game. the map is even worse than how empty it looked in the trailer in my opinion. oh and the weird shit going on with your tires is because you don't have your tire PSI maxed. i figured that one out immediately. for some bizarre reason the squished part of your tire rolls. its bizarre. it feels like nobody even tested this fuckin game. my response to the price stuff was refunding the game and then sailing the open seas. i'm pissed off. i fortunately only had an hour in the game when the price dropped.
The extreme focus on Dark Souls level challenges instead of fun jib stuff to introduce you to the game is a turn off. A lot of people's first impressions are trying to wrestle with pumping. Pumping and pedaling for several minutes at a time to find the next spot hidden away. It's a frustrating game design that detracts from the core fun imo.
cyberpunk2077 did so much damage to the gaming industry, people now thinks that developers can deliver something unfinished and then just patch it, wait for people to find the bugs and then fix them or wait for people to realize some missing content and then adding it...
Pure speculation. If only he had 8+ yrs to work on it. If you want to spend 55 usd on a pre alpha with little content to offer over modded pipe, good for you. At that price you can get a lot better games. Me personally, I will rock pipe modded and get basically the same exact experience unless content is added, bugs are fixed and the price is no more than 20-30 usd.
The game is fun but it is so janky. Paid the expensive price, not sure if i can get my money back? Plus the game runs so horribly for me, because all of the huge map gets rendered, with really low settings i get 50 fps max
