Today, on Day 230 of my sobriety, I listened to Sleep Token’s “The Night Does Not Belong To God”. Before diving into the music, I reflected on a nostalgic moment this morning. I was awakened by a bird’s song that reminded me of my childhood in Sweden, particularly the bird that used to sing at my grandmother’s house when I’d have sleepovers. It’s amazing how certain sounds can instantly transport us to a different time and place, triggering old memories and even smells.
I also discussed my thoughts on how my brain operates. I’ve always loved the way my brain works, though it’s been challenging at times due to its speed and intensity. Many people suggested that I try medication for ADHD, but I’ve always felt that my mind isn’t “sick” - it just functions differently. Cannabis was something that used to help me slow down my thoughts, but now, I realize that support and understanding can often be more effective than medication for people who think or operate differently.
As for the track by Sleep Token, it was amazing. The song deals with Sundowners or Sundowning Syndrome, which gave me deeper thoughts about my mind and its complexities. I really enjoyed this track and I’m eager to explore more of Sleep Token’s music. Their sound is captivating and profound.
