@@TrixRN all well thanks! So exciting to be watching Keith & Estelle on their California road trip & praying the Rosary in different cities. Nice to be able to put faces to the names in the Crew!🙏📿
I’m a Catholic, and I live in the United States of America 🇺🇸, I obey God first ✝️. We serve God. Praying for you Fr Mike, thank you for praying for me, and for all 🛐
Seems like they’re either playing political games (republicans) or taking care of everyone except the citizens (democrats) smh 🤦♀️ Why do we have such unserious people at the highest levels of government?🤷🏼♀️ Pray for the USA 🙏❤️
Unfortunately governments of today dont follow the catechism and many citizens are paying the price due to mass illegal immigration which is causing much unrest. God grant us peace, i place all my trust in you. 🙏
Praying & fasting. 🙏 Traveling 75mi to pick up truck and drive to doctor. Only to take the truck tomorrow to the dealer for further repairs. Offering all this aggravation for Peace. 🙏
@@LDP-33 I believe you are correct and it is a cardinal I did not take the time to look it up but his name and a special prayer has been posted on facebook by numerous Catholic podcasters.
A wise man a few months back said "See a need, fill a need". Thank you Fr. Mike for the CIY I feel i am becoming a better Catholic that I was 290 days ago. Next Year BIY.
With love to all - I ask that we all fast today and pray the rosary for peace in the Middle East , all countries and families. Thank you & God Bless! 🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇨🇦
All of you people watching this please pray for a friend of mine her words exactly “I don't know if non-believer is the right word, I'm not affiliated with any particular religion, I'm probably agnostic right now, I do find value in the psychospiritual, maybe to say I'm questioning is more accurate.”
Goodnight Fr Mike. You are heaven sent. And I can't wait to listen to you. God bless you and all your good works for your parishioners/students and everyone following CIY. To God be the glory. Amen.
Thank you father Mike! God bless you and all in CIY family!🙏❤️ 2239 It is the duty of citizens to contribute along with the civil authorities to the good of society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom. the love and service of one's country follow from the duty of gratitude and belong to the order of charity. ❤️
For those not aware, in every description of every video there is a quick summary such as this one: "As citizens of a nation, we have certain responsibilities in accordance with God’s Law. The Catechism provides parameters for contributing to society, welcoming the foreigner, refusing obedience, and resisting oppression. Fr. Mike helps us better understand our role as co-collaborators in society within the lens of our world today. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 2238-2243." If you look right under the video where it says the number of views and when it was uploaded, there's a "...more". If you click that, you'll see it! Hope this is helpful for note takers or helpful for reading before watching/listening! Thanks again! Thank you so much Fr. Mike, Ascension Presents, the Catechism in a Year production team, and everyone here for your spiritual and financial support to help make this incredible Catechism in a Year podcast gift possible! Hope you and yours have a light-filled, joyful peaceful week. God bless you.
Citizens should regard those in authority as representatives of God and offer their loyal collaboration for the right functioning of public and social life. This collaboration includes love and service of one's homeland, the right and duty to vote, payment of taxes, the defence of one's country, and the right to exercise constructive criticism. A citizen is obliged in conscience not to obey the laws of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order. We must obey God rather than men
that was so concise Fr. Mike, thank you so much❣️ Praise be to God and to God be All the Highest Glory❣️ As always, I am praying for all of you. God Bless 🙏🏻
Fr. Mike, I can clearly see why the Holy Spirit has chosen you to teach us! O Lord, thank you for your gift of this year. And, thank you for inspiring your servant, Fr. Mike. Fr. Mike, please commission the transcription of your daily prayer and clarifying narrative into a supporting companion book. I could not grasp by only reading the Catechism without your comments. May God bless, inspire and transform all who participate in this Holy experience.
@@dianefrank3688 Thank you for your prayers. I liked what you said yesterday; that people who are normal calm are explosive because: of the news; its unsettling. However, I do have insight of the root of the problem; to why the boss was taking it out on the workers. A social worker came in; and was not seen for years; and it was a surprise for them to meet. They talked for a half an hour by the cashier. They both were crying. The boss's son a twenty-year-old was making sandwiches; he looks like her biological son; but apparently, he was adopted; at an age that he could remember; that this woman was his social worker; or foster parent. After the woman left; he talked in low tones; in how upset he was; to even mention his situation in public. The woman was humble and begged forgiveness; and he did not forgive her. I just connected the dots; that still this woman is having issues with her adopted son; not forgiving her. Prayer: Lord, may you please Lord, intervene in the matters of Love. The young man having questions about -Why was he abandoned? And his adoptive mother being ashamed; and shunned for just one simple mistake; which is costing her Love to be shattered into a million pieces. Lord, please intervene; help the mother and son heal; and be close friends again. Amen. May the woman not be taking her anger on the workers today, Amen. Bring salvation to this family. Amen.
I know of a family who took in a stranger, a friend of one of the sons, and showed him nothing but kindness. He went on to rape another son for a few years. The parents died without knowing this and the son suffered in silence till years later😢...........Thank you Fr Mike. Praying for you and all who make this possible. Also for everyone here. God bless🙏❤️🙏
May all of us on this Day 290 be thankful for the benefits & freedoms we have living in our various countries and praying for those who are under religious persecution. ❤🙏
I heard our government has put 2000 troops on standby to go to Israel. Iran is making retaliatory noises if US gets involved! Russia & China are both allies of Iran. Are we looking at possible start of WWIII?
@@TrixRNi was thinking of that my self. I don't know what this country is coming to. We have to vote in much smarter and God fearing leaders for our own country.
Yes be an informed citizen before voting, the moral and common sense of a candidate are to me most important ❤ Still love my country despite all its faults 😂🇺🇸
October 17, 2023 Let me ask you, have you ever considered listening to Saint Faustina’s Diary in a year and/or EWTN Mother Angelica’s Classics to add to your Catholic learning? Oh my goodness so much life guidance in conjunction with Father Mike’s Bible and Catechism in a Year!
Day 290 Very challenging today especially when I fail to respect the govt of India in my thoughts and many times wish bad for them.... But at the same time, this is the truth which i completely agree with
An important reminder to cooperate with the authority and help them to maintain civil order so that God's work keeps going peacefully. The right to non-violent protests and civil disobedience are also emphasized, which reminds us of the independence struggles of the US, India, and more. Government and citizens should indeed follow God and be kind to those in need. As citizens, it is a responsibility to follow God and cooperate with the authority for a greater good and the public good. Thank you for this analysis, Fr Mike and Team Ascension! I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless
We must also remember that illegal is illegal. Wrong is wrong and to let people breaking and entering into our country and letting them stay is telling them that it's ok to break laws.... That is not helping their soul at all. So no to illegal immigration. Instead I pray that they stay in their country and work to make it better. Thank you
Nor does this solve long term solutions allowing them to be dependent on others. In addition, how do we know for certain, how many terrorist are in our own country. Our President and Vice President needs to go.
We must be subject, for the Lord's sake, to every human institution. It's right and just to love our country, and so we pay taxes, exercise our voting rights, (by knowing the candidates first) and defend our country. We are also obliged to welcome and care for the stranger/foreigner, and treat them with dignity. Yet there are limits, as we cannot take care of others at the expense of our own family/country. Sometimes we have to refuse to obey political parties if they act contrary to God's law. There are five requirements for armed resistence to be just.
So we are obligated to be active citizens. I have many a time just gone to drop the vote without processing who I vote for or just asked a friend who we should vote for. I suppose I will not be lazy the next voting season. I will not be a passive citizen anymore but a participating one. Thank Fr for this revelation
Titus 3:3 KJV "For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers (many different) lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of GOD our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration (cleansed of all sin by being born again/made alive by the Holy Spirit), and renewing of the Holy Ghost (restoring our soul not sacrificing Christ over and over in a mass); 6 which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; 7 that being justified by His grace (forgiven of all sins by God's free gift of grace), we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
Doing my research of US President Candidates , I have found Dr. Shiva as a hopeful choice! His beliefs resonate with mine . Safe organic food production , no GMO , no risky medical mandates , back to Truth Freedom Health!
Knowledge of the candidates. This is why I have written in my husband’s name, or a citizen I know that is upright and honorable. There have been too many times I could not vote for either candidates.
Not always so easy Father, what about our Catholic brothers and sisters in China, Nigeria, Pakistan etc. who are being massacred by the Government meant to protect? As a Catholic Priest living in the U S A, you can have no clue how hard living out the Faith is in countries who despise Catholics - 😢
Sadly in conflict, we as Catholics bury our heads in the sand, but our brothers and sisters fight for their faith, we need to look to them for example - even if it costs us our lives against corrupt Governments
@marsharr2877 Great number, but we need to be living our Faith, think of the good samaritan, he did God's Holy will without a second glance - we need to be more like this to our suffering brothers and sisters x
October 17, 2023 Will you please take a moment and pray with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
Economic migration is a necessary human right. But more- we need to do more. 7.5 million people in the last two years came to the United States. Should that not be worth an order or 200 of contemplatives to move to the border and build communities of hospitality, where people can rest from their journey, learn the language and laws, and seek legal asylum and citizenship?
Paragraph 2242 seems to contradict the preceding paragraphs in this section! It does come as a relief. I was jumping up and down asking, "i'm supposed to regard joe biden as a representative of God?!?!?!" And be okay paying taxes that go to fund abortions ?!?!
Unfortunately our immigration system now is very different and I do not believe that there is proper limits at this point. Our justice system has also been broken there were right concerns to an extent but now it is getting dangerous in some areas
