18:08 That right there is the Kendall Katwalk. The most expensive trail ever built in the United States. 600 feet built at a cost of $42,000 per foot adjusted for inflation. I'm so happy you went back and did this section again. It's nice to see you just hiking to see things rather then hiking to crush miles. I think this is one of your best videos ever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m a private pilot and occasional backpacker. Seeing the glory of God’s creation is what motivates to do both. I understand all of our uncertainty we all have toward God. If we were ants, and all we could see was a very small portion of a human’s foot as it crushed us, does the human really exist to an ant? God is so big, that we just can’t wrap our minds around Him. But it is a true joy to see His works.

Possibly when you are so focused on the goal of each day so intently it doesn’t allow the freedom do process emotions but when you are there just being in your hike today experiencing just being present things have more room to bubble up.

Roadrunner, a suggestion….why don’t you go back to Kennedy Meadows North and go south through the Sierra’s again. Everyone who has done North and South says it’s a completely different experience. That way you can stay on the trail for 3 more weeks. Me and your followers would love to see the views without the snow. Best of luck in whatever you do.

I think you are weening yourself off the trail slowly. I would need to do the same thing. After a summer of firefighting I had a hard time coming back to the town life and I lived in a small town! After 2 days I needed to get back into the woods for sure. So fun following you.

My hikes definitely don’t compare to yours in scale but I was also way more emotional after the fact. I wonder if our bodies are in preservation mode while we are pushing it so hard and once it feels like it can relax some we are allowed the opportunity to feel all the feelings.

That is an amazing part of the PCT. I love your videos, we are on like day 20 so far and binging them :) I like the fact that you are not just a talking head, the way you narrate really gives me a good idea of the area you are in and how you feel. I started doing river crossin on my drives but then realized I need to be different so I started "Cattle Guard Crossin" You are amazing, I would be really happy if you did the Continental Divide Trail next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😃

Glad you got to experience Kendall Katwalk. It's one of my favorite hikes. There is a sign, as you're going northbound for stockers to dismount and walk their horses across. That to me, is the start of Kendall Katwalk, and it extends all through the cliff face. Different hikers will have their own iterpretations.

Good morning, Juliane. Wow! There aren't enough or adequate words to describe how beautiful the views were on this section. They were absolutely awesome. The surrounding forest was quite neat also. But it looked like a narrow path. Not sure I would have liked that. Guess that's why they callt a catwalk. I'm glad you went back and hiked it again when the weather was better and you could actually see what was around you. Looking forward to where you stop next on your road trip. Take care. Stay safe. See you next time.

The reason the Katealk gets a special name/status is because of the difficulty in building the trail in that section. They had to blast a lot of rock to put in the trail.

1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. 2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. 4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. "How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains."(John Muir). We have the capability to destroy wilderness, but we cannot create it. The dilemma of trying to describe what you witnessed belongs to everyone. Artists and poets come closer than we ordinary mortals can. Be well, stay safe. 🥾

Yay 🎉 You returned to the Katwalk and got to see everything fogged over your first time through. It's really beautiful, even magnificent! Yes, there is lots of analysis after fires, sometimes it's legal forensic analysis and other times it's a BAER team checking on the effects on vegetation, soil, and watershed. But there's always a check of all burned areas to determine if the fire is really out, what any trail or road conditions might have changed, whether visitors are exposed to dangerous conditions such as falling snags. Once all that is addressed, then there will be a decision on whether to reopen or wait for crews to remediate the area, or wait for nature to take it's course, it whatever action is best for the area. Some of these fires are so big that it takes months to do the analysis and create the action plan. And then there's always the possibility that the fire will reignite, even under the winter snow, and cause more issues that need to be addressed. It's all about maintaining safety.

You never mentioned how your poop emergency worked out. Unfortunately I could relate to this. It seems like you are always fine when there are places to go but the minute you enter a steep rock canyon or are on a cliff your body says "it's time to go NOW". I can't wait to hike the PCT SOBO in two years. The views and landscape are just amazing - especially compared to the southern PCT which is where I live.

Stehekin is my Happy Place and I have a very deep connection there...I do recommend going back there someday but, in my opinion, that section of the PCT is boring. I would hike Park Creek Pass or Rainbow, McAlester Lake over to otherside or do the loop. NOCA has so much more to offer than that section of the PCT. Sorry in rained on you...that wasn't super typical weather in August but I don't know what is typical anymore when it comes to weather🤷‍♀️

I don't know how much of a time lag there is between when these videos are posted and filmed. So if you are still in WA and still have a little trail fever here is my suggestion especially since fires prevented you and now it's reopen. Drive to Chelan, look up fields point that's where you can park your car. And get on the Ferry to Stehekin. It's open again. So you can see any hikers drifting into town, eat at the lodge and the bakery, camp at several possible places. I. Town or Backcountry. But stock up on food at the Safeway in Chelan as groceries are hard to come by in Stehekin.

9:37 Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium aka Chamerion angustifolium). • 9:43 Sitka Mountain Ash (Sorbus sitchensis). - Some religious people would say that this beauty was created just as it is through a divine agent thousands of years ago like someone creating a pot from clay. A scientist like myself would say it's the product of plate tectonics created as the Farallon Plate slid under the North American Plate through subduction, causing the heating and melting of oceanic and continental crust, in turn creating a volcanic chain of mountains and both intrusive and extrusive igneous rocks. For myself, God is essentially existent, not subject to time, so creation is a universal ongoing process, and there's no reason plate tectonics couldn't be part of that process of change and continuous creation.

Really really Indescribable as you say! God is holy & mighty and as Indescribable as the beauty He created. A bit of you still searches and wants badly to know God; I sense that in your talking. Maybe read, “Mere Christianity” by CS Lewis. He was an atheist who came to believe! Or “A Case for Christ.” by Lee Strobel. It would be awesome to see your JOY in believing fully. Through believing one gives up self and lets God lead our lives. It is freedom from self absorption, worry and brings peace and understanding purpose.

You having been mentioning God in a couple of your last videos unsure if he exists. Just as a building is proof there was once a builder, a painting is proof there was once a painter, creation is proof there is a creator...to believe otherwise would mean you believe in the scientfic impossibility that nothing created everything. Start with the gospel of John in the Bible and begin reading...I believe Boujee would agree!
