One older guy in my club really dislikes drop seoi nages as well. Doesn't say they're lame but dangerous, because you have so little time to react to it so you could easily go forehead first on tatami. Nice clips! Always hate to see a Finnish judoka go down, but admittedly the opponent made a great move. In my personal emotional response I'd say no score in Grigalashvili - Lee was the right judgment. Maybe not the obvious interpretation of the current rules? But to me it just looked like two guys tumbling face first on tatami and not going for newaza. Not that great to look at. In the same vein I would've given Makhmadbekov a waza-ari for that. Seems like koreans are really good at abusing the current rule set. Like to me their game looks a lot like grab a sleeve and fall on your face on tatami and wait for them to be pulled with you (or tackled). A win is a win. But I do kinda miss the "thrown on their back in a convincing, powerful and dominating fashion" over tumbling and rolling still without going to newaza.
I'm going to need a lot of convincing before I believe the next zantaria has been born already.😹 I was watching his fight against abe the other day day and man is it one of the best matches to date.
He is young and strong but zantaria was durable. This young lad already twisted his ankle and came in the finals with taped ankle and put on a show against grigashvili. Let's wait how durable he is with this fighting style.
Casse versus Arbuzov Casse got 2 shidos for leg grab and ended up loosing due to 3 shidos. I looked at the footage of the match on YT and could not see any leg grab in the last action where Casse got the leg grab shido. There was a comment on that video that it was not clear why the last Shido, I also confirmed that as a reply on that comment. This video has been meanwhile removed from RU-vid as I cannot find it anymore. Do you know more about this weird case?
