The previous day's recovery ride was the perfect preparation for today the Queen stage of the Camp. A whopping 75 mile ride with 7000 ft of elevation as we took on the infamous Sa Calobra. One sentence rang in our ear as we scaled towards this monster of a mountain... "What goes up must come down and what goes down, must come up". The ride up to Sa Calobra in itself was a mighty challenge. The group scaled the more forgiving Coll de Sabatalla on route to the top of Sa Calobra. Once there, we had to navigate a technical and treacherous descent to the bottom of Sa Calobra to refuel and gather our courage before attempting to slay the dragon. The Coll loomed large on the horizon - towering over our heads and making us feel insignificant in it's wake. Unlike the route towards the Coll, the way back up offered no rest bite. The climb is a 10km unrelenting monster at 7% average gradient with little to no flat sections to coast/freewheel. It's just you and your bike. Your suffering up the mountain can be 30mins like the Pros or it can be an hour like an average rider. Either way you suffer. The only difference is how long you can endure. Find out if we emerged victorious or needed to be rescued!
