Phuktal Monastery or Phuktal Gompa, situated at an height of 16600 feet, is a Buddhist monastery located in the remote Lungnak Valley in south-eastern Zanskar, in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, in Northern India. It is one of the only Buddhist monasteries in Ladakh that can still be reached only by foot. Also it is one of the most beautiful monasteries I have ever witnessed❤️❤️
Traditional style wedding rituals at Phuktal monastery: A bunch of people from the groom’s side travel all along from Purne to Phuktal Gompa by horses all dressed in their traditional attire, where they are served traditional food and beverages, they perform local dance and visit the Gompa and take further journey of another 9 hours by foot from the Gompa to reach the bride’s home.
