Try fish curry with just cumin, black pepper, and ginger paste. Its called 'jire kacha lonka diye maacher jhol', a simple bengali delicacy. We avoide any onion and garlic in this.
I am too from up but I didn't like that at all ,because methi Dana give slightly bitterness and doesn't tone down the smell of fish even I feel it's increas the smell. If add some tomato or anything like that smell of fish will tone down.

We call it 'machher kaaliya' in Bengali. The only difference is we use cumin for tempering and sprinkle garam masala powder and a dash of ghee in the end. The rest of the preparation is the same.

Rice is the staple food for us. So don't be ashamed of eating our staple. Nowadays it has become a trend of being ashamed of eating rice, speaking in mothertongue, wearing traditional dress. If someone is of that mentality s/he should be ashamed😅

Eating chicken, fish or eggs doesn't make you gain weight dear. Your body needs these things. I have seen people gaining weight despite of being pure vegetarian. But can totally respect if you're vegetarian. For weight loss you can try some vegetarian recipes too. Or can take guidance from nutritionist.
Don’t eat spices too. You eat hell lots of red chili. Just throw it out of your life if you want to be fit. Spices disturb your metabolism, resulting in difficult digestion and difficult to lose weight.
