Today we ordered room service (which is FREE, mind you!), slid in to Sir Samuel's for some fresh lattes, attended another watercolor class (so fun!), went to the Masquerade Ball, and then hit the after-party at the G32!
Band in G32 seemed a bit tame. We had a fabulous Caribbean style band called Exxile when we were on. Think they were from St Lucia. Unfortunately I don't think they're working on ships anymore. We spend our evenings flitting between Queens Room and G32. Unlike many ballroom/latin dancers the size and shape of the floor doesn't matter to us, so if the disco has music that provides a better quickstep or whatever than the Queens Room band then that's where we go.
I love it!!! We were just wandering… it was all girls on our trip, so we didn’t have anyone to dance with, but I’ve heard that Cunard supplies dance partners if you ask!
@@cristatravers I believe it's taken a wee while since the restart to get them back, but there have been a few on most of the ships in the last year. There was even a lady on QM2 recently. @tonymariadance have lots of videos on here of dancing on ships, mostly Cunard, you can sometimes pick out the partners wearing badges. It's always been accepted that two ladies can partner up for social ballroom and latin, and in recent times more and more men too. And if you need tuition, find a qualified teacher near you and go along for social dance lessons. Many will pair up singles keeping an eye out for any unwanted behaviour and two ladies can learn but remember to swap the leader/follower rolls so you can do both.

I've still not seen myself, last chance is Day Six! I didn't indulge in either of the Gala Nights. I don't own a tuxedo and wasn't buying one for the cruise and being a solo traveller I had no one to go with anyway. I had dinner in the buffet those nights and enjoyed watching all those who did get dressed up wandering around the ship and getting photographs of themselves. I did join in the Masquerade Quiz in the Golden Lion as that was one of the places where formal dress was not required. I formed a quiz team of one person and called it Norman No Mates. I didn't do very well but I did much better in the two other quizes I entered, coming second both times. No prized though!
That is hilarious! It takes a confident man to start up his own one-man team... I love it! Yes, maybe we will see you Day 6. I am sure we have passed one another somewhere on the QM2!
If you don't mind me asking how much did you tip for room service? What was tipping like in general? I understand you pay X amount (by class) per day - so you are tipping on top of that? Thanks!
For room service we tipped $10, if I remember correctly. We didn't tip at the tables; instead, a gratuity was added to the entire bill to be distributed amongst the staff (as you mentioned). You have the choice to decline that gratuity or increase it. We tipped our room steward at the end of the trip - cash in an envelope for great service and a "Thank You" note!
