Here is how to integrate the modified script with a cron job :: 1. Open the crontab configuration by running: crontab -e 2. Add the following line to the crontab file: 0 20 * * * /path to your script.sh (Replace /path to script.sh with the actual path of your script) The cron job entry 0 20 * * * specifies that the script will run at 20:00 (8:00 PM) every day. 3. Save and exit the crontab editor.

can we use aws cli with linux commands like this, is this good practices, $ aws ec2 describe-instances --region us-east-2 --query "Reservations[].Instances[].InstanceId" or $ aws ec2 describe-instances --region us-east-2 | grep -i instanceid | awk '{print $2}' # can we use grep command in place of '--query' option, bcuz output is same

previous day i waslooking at the shell scripting interview questions and there you mentioned about crontabs so i was a little bit con fused like is it crontab or cronjob. After a little bit googling i finally got the point. Like me if anyone is getting it confused (Cronjobs are the individual entries in that Crontab file). Here's a little help.

I am a IT employee in security IDAM field from last 2.5 years, but this year I got to work on Dev-Ops tools like git, version management, Jenkins builts and deployment, ansible and YAML based automation, AWS infrastructure monitoring and backtracked components over Load balancer and other components of AWS. Which made me feel taking it full time now, I would like to have your views on my decision to transition from IDAM - Security to Dev-Ops full time. My senior asked to refer your channel. I love how you explain. I am following your course and as commenting I am on Day-7. Pursuing it. Great Content! I was able to set up a crontab to execute the resource tracker script for a certain period of time, but I was unable to get crontab to email the output files from the script. I read online that I have to configure the ssmtp file and add my email credentials there. Realistically, you don't do that at a job if asked to email to a manager or employee right?

Around 10:55, when I type Bash and then AWS, i get a "Command 'aws' not found, but can be installed with:" error. I have the AWS CLI installed and am using a Windows machine. Can anyone help?

Hi Sandeep, Lets say u have 3 instances ec1, ec2, ec3 and u r executing this code in ec1, then in the output, will there be description of ec1 instance as well? or only the Descriptions of ec2 and ec3?? and If its not Showing Description of ec1, what could be the reason?

How can I configure AWS in ec2 when I am using mobaxterm ? When I am trying to do so the system shows it's not installed !! I am only able to configure it when I am not in EC2 !

Hello Abhishek, qq: When you said crontabs can be triggered at a specific time, how is the time considered? Is it system local time or global UTC time? In case I have a crontab set at 7pm EST, but I change the time on my local machine for something else, is it going to affect the crontab or is it going to run the process despite the time change on the local? Secondly, when you do 'set -x' the command gets printed which is for understanding, but is it good that you want to reveal the commands? We can definitely use echo as an alternative but when we use set-x and echo together, the script feels clumsy due to the occurrence of the echo command and its output. Can we avoid this?
