79 days of go go go,..both of you! 👍 Momma Bear you have been protecting Little Bear, fitting in clients, editing, planning, more than we know... And Little Bear, who is level headed, logical, curious, and thoughtful, make the most amazing team on this trail, the AT! Serious, I loved the face masks! 🥰🥰 Please do them again! Enjoy your 2 days off!❤❤
No one knows you or your situation better than Mama Bear and Little Bear...and of course Ellie Bear. You take whatever time you need for self care and fun! 🙏❤️🙏
So glad you are putting yourselves first!! 😊. Take it easy today. Rest and recover! 💤. You are doing your best!! Good night MB& LB and of course Ellie! PS. Happy 1st birthday to Salem! 🎂❤️🎁
I am so glad that y’all are taking extra days off and catching up on eating enough. Your bodies will think you when you get back on the trail. Sleep is important too.
This down time will do you both the world of good and hopefully reignite the spark you previously had for completing the Appalachian trail. Happy rest days ❤
For me, THIS is what mental health is all about. Thru-hiking requires so many decisions, logistics, chores, and planning it can be mentally exhausting. Our brain needs a mental break just like our body needs a physical break.
I had already viewed your 80 day and your decision to leave the trail. You have accomplished so much and you have been away from your family members a long time and your saying smiles not miles & the best advice to all Thru Hikers is Hike your Hike…. Well you have done both and you are part of a very small number of people you have been on a continuous 80 hike and covered nearly 800 miles and so many good friends you made and such wonderful moments you have shared together and so kind to share them with so many subscribers and the memories….. what a journey and your life is fuller for it. Love you both …. ❤😊
I ended my thru hike attempt at that campground in 2022. Injury took me off, getting back on this Nov starting over! Stay strong and i hope you 2 keep on trucking!
Hey you both!! Glad you’re both getting some well deserved rest and good food and tv time!!! Salem is super cute!!! These are called mental health days!! We all need them to rest and recuperate and when you get back on trail, it will help rejuvenate you!!!! (And I know you will be)
Great idea having an extra zero day. You deserve it! You’ve been working so hard and your bodies must need downtime as well as your brains. See you tomorrow. Love and hugs.R ❤❤
I grew up in the Miami area in the 70s. I do not like frogs today because of my backyard encounters with the bufo toads. That metal slide also brought back lots of memories. I'm so glad to see you guys taking some time to have fun!
Hey Little Bear. The sand is sparkling because it has mica in it. The mountain areas are full of it. Mama Bear ya’ll are doing so good. I am enjoying watching ya’ll. Lisa from Florida. 😊🙏
Happy Birthday Dear Salem Happy Birthday to you! 🎈Hoping I spelled the name right. MB you saw a cardinal - they say a loved one is visiting you. LB you cracked me up with the stretchy cheese. The food looked awesome. You guys look all fresh and ready for a great sleep. See you on day 80.
Wow!!! Salem is so pretty!! Happy birthday to that beautiful girl! We just adopted 2-6 week old pups 🥰 they are black lab and springer spaniel mix. A brother and sister. They are definitely keeping me busy 🤣 We also have a long hair tabby cat. Her name is cocoa 💗 Our fur babies give us the most awesome love!! I hope your time off in Roanoke was really fun! It’s so important to take time and enjoy life! The trail is always there when you’re ready to hike some more. I wish the negative Nancy’s would just myob. The trail is different for everyone. You are obligated to no one and your plans are what is important to you and your precious girl! LOVE YOUR MORNING DANCE, BY THE WAY, LITTLE BEAR 💃💕 HAVE FUN🥰💗💕💃💃
Thank you so much. We appreciate you and your support and kindness. So odd people can be so rude and hurtful to strangers. I feel badly for them because they are reflecting their own pain. As for us, we’re incredibly grateful for our awesome journey on the AT! We hiked our own hike from beginning to end. 💙 Sounds like you have your hands full with your fur babies! How fun!! 🐾 What did you name them? We will be adopting a Maine Coon in the fall and we can’t wait! 🥰 We are loving being back home with our family, with and without fur! 😂 We’re excited to share our upcoming family adventures! Love and light to you! 💙☀️🙏🏼✨
You're clearly very emotionally healthy people 😂 but, I'd like to throw out character builders I would most likely experience on the easy or n/zero days. I would struggle with is giving myself permission to spend money and relax (the biggest one for me). Calming the thoughts that I'm losing miles by resting. And worrying the good weather will make me soft to the harsh days that will inevitably come. And that relaxing will make me forget my drive to move forward and I would regret it later when I fall behind. Is this something you or anyone else you've talked to on trail has experienced? Love your level headed approach ❤️
Good thoughts! Lots of people experience exactly what you’ve shared…so much so that it has greatly impacted their ability to stay in the present moment and enjoy their experience. It has also caused some people out here to start resenting their journey…another sad reality of unrealistic expectations and not being honest with yourself. For us, we have not struggled with this because we realize every day is a part of the journey, no matter the agenda, miles, camping spot, weather, etc. Balance is key in life and that is still very true whilst in trail. Because we are just so grateful for where we are and for this opportunity, it allows us the freedom to stay in the present moment, make wise choices that are in our best interest, and see the positives in all aspects of the trail.
Sorry to see that you are leaving the trail, but i understand that it's family first. Also the trail can at times be discouraging and even boring !!! Too bad though: you missed out on something really good: In the Shenandoah National park there is a restaurant at Skyland lodge that has the best Blackberry cobbler I've ever had. My friends and I did 50 miles of AT in that park a few years ago, and my wife and I have been there many times. Take your family there.. Its a great park, God bless you and your family. Johnny Hiker
Hi there! Thank you! 🙏🏼 Luckily, the trail isn’t going anywhere. We have future plans to section hike…not sure when we will, but it’s something we’ve already talked about. My husband also still wants to thru hike, so that may become an option we consider once we both retire (that was the original plan). All of the kids will be off doing their thing by then, so I can see that being a much more ideal time. We’ll see. So many options! 😊
🚶♀️🐻👟👟🚶♂️🐻😺👟👟⛺🌞 very nice little campground you two ladies are doing amazing I'm happy to hear you're going to take a few days I hope you both have a very good time and enjoy the movie stay safe and have a very good time love and light to you both and goodnight Ellie 🐈😺 and happy birthday Salem 🎉
5:32 please warn Little Bear against putting her full weight on a trekking pole, especially when it's pointed at her body. I have seen them break and impale a person. I have also seen people fall while carrying them tucked under an arm and get stabbed when the pole hits the ground handle side first. Be careful out there!
Your doing such great mileage every day. And if it rained and,a little thunder storm on you day off trail, it was worth it. At the campsite you had was that a power source you could charge your electricity at near your tent? Hope you got a chance to do some pool time. 🌲✌
