We actually don’t have specific contract times daily, we have a weekly time that we need to meet, which is nice because then there is flexibility to stay on the day that works for you or never stay late and just come in early, or vice versa.
I teach from home now but last year I had to be at school at 7:45. Kids allowed in building at 8 and announcements start at 8:15. Kids left at 2:15 and we had to stay until 3:15. I loved it bc I used that last hour of the day to plan lessons. My plan during the school day really could barely used to plan bc it was so short.
I always make an extra set of student supplies at the beginning of the year in case I get a surprise student. Obviously, I can't label things with their name, but it is nice to have a stack of materials ready for an unexpected student. If space allows, I also like to have an extra desk in the room to make new students feel welcome.
My contract time is 8:15-4:15. We start receiving students at 8:40. So we get about 25 minutes in the morning before students arrive. In The afternoon it just depends on how busses run. Technically, our dismissal starts at 3:55 with walkers and car riders. I have had them as late as 4:15 and even 4:25. Normally, they are dismissed by 4:05, so it gives us another 10 minutes in the afternoons. All in all about 35 minutes of uninterrupted work time during contract hours. I love Nearpod. It’s one of my favorite teaching tools. My kids love Time to Climb, but mine displays differently from yours. It literally shows the kids their little characters running up the hill.
I work at two different schools. One is 7:30-3:30 with kids in the classrooms from 8:00-3:00. The other is 7:30-3:15 with kids in the classrooms from 7:45-2:45. I personally have morning duty every day, so I don’t get any prep time in the morning. Perks of teaching specials 😬😂
My contract time starts at 8:10, which is when kids arrive. Most teachers arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 because we obviously cannot be walking in with the kids. Monday and Tuesday our contract time ends at 3:05, and the rest of the days we can leave when the kids leave which is at 2:30...it's interesting haha.
