In this video, I tried my best to provide you with a glimpse of my day to day life as a Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor for Turton Bond. I would say that after working for a few different companies in the construction industry, this company is on another level in terms of culture, benefits, and most importantly, people. Hope you enjoy this video!

Was it scary to leave your old job? How did you pick this new job & land the offer? Also, do you usually have that office to yourself? Or do others work there with you sometimes? I really enjoy your content. Thank you 🙏

Im in highschool Im searching for what to do for uni/collage in CA im only good at math a little bit (83) and I am more of a person who uses the left side of their brain. If there is a task that needs to be done I will literally do it and get straight to bussiness without much talking. This video caught my interest but my grades in math are only ok do u any suggestions on what I should do.

Hi, Trey. I'm a civil engineer, and I want to switch my career in BIM. I have grown my interest in BIM, and it seemes initially Revit, Navisworks and Primavera will be good. My question is that, according to my skills, being an Indian and indian resident, is there any possibility to get remote job in US/UK or Canadian based company BIM jobs who recruites employee from remote location (or in abroad)? Like BIM modeller, planning; costing engineer; estimation engineer and management engineer. If so, please give few name of those companies, or give me any source where I can find such companies. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rajat, Sorry for the late reply. That's a great question. When I was with Katerra, we had a BIM Team in India who would help us with modeling. I don't know if they are doing remote over there and I believe they were not paid in USD but in India's local currency. To answer your question, it's quite unlikely to work for a US/UK company while being in India unless you had already established some connections here. I don't mean to be negative, I'm just speaking from my point of view. This is because to work for a US company, you can't just apply for a job. You need a work visa. But this work visa (H1B) is a visa that your employer has to sponsor you. It's definitely difficult for them to hire you if they could hire another person who's already living in the area. Hope that answers your question and I wish you all the best if you do decide to pursue this path.

First, it's taught at schools if you are majoring in construction management/engineering. But I can also try and make a video on that in the future. I will keep you posted.

Hello Trey, I am currently in school for Construction Management(CM) & Computer Science (CS). I am debating very hard at this point whether should I switch my major to CS from CM. [May I ask you how many percent of Eatimator work remotely and how often you work from home? From your video, I see that you still need to go to the company office.] (FYI: An interesting statistic I want to share with you: 86% of Software engineers now work remotely after COVID)

If you want stress free life with some decent money go with CS. BTW where are you from?
@TreyTan
@TreyTan 2 года назад
I agree with Anmol, if you want to work remotely with higher starting salary, then definitely choose CS over CM. To answer your question, if you're an estimator working for a GC most likely you would have to work from the office. But if you're with a subcontractor then there's a chance you could work remotely. I go to the office whenever i can. Most of the time 3-4 times a week. My company allows work from home on Fridays. This is a really hard decision but I think CS would benefit you more than construction mgmt. Good luck Chifung!

Sir, may you please confirm which has better career growth between Revit modeller and Tekla steel detailer?
@TreyTan

Hi Rajat, I personally think Tekla steel detailer would allow you to make more money in the future if you do decide to become a steel BIM expert. All the best.

Hi Trey, howw is the scope after construction management in Canada? If you have any idea about it.
@TreyTan
@TreyTan 2 года назад
Hi Anmol, as long as it's construction management, you would be able to do the following: estimating, scheduling, project management, BIM or facilities management. Most people would get into project management. Hope that helps.

@@TreyTan Hey Trey! I appreciate your response. Actually I'm architecture graduate and the salary is below average. That's why I'm thinking of doing master's in construction management from Canada or Australia. What do you think if you are on my position. BTW I'm from India😅
