I wonder who takes care of your baby while you are at work. I am doing phd too & with a baby at home. My husband is a doctor so he is hardly home. My days are chaotic, baby, feeding, household chores, research and baby. There is hardly a time to rest since I work on my research and do the chores while the baby is sleeping. Life is hard being a mother with a baby & doing phd without a babysitter at home

Oh man…momma you’re amazing! One of my best friends was in the same position and she had a neighbor that could take her son for a couple of hours to get something does interruption free writing done. Such a game changer for her. Hang in there, this period will pass eventually 🥰💗

Every now and again we’ll hear “they’ve isolated a protein that has promise in the fight against cancer”. In conversation with you once, you mentioned DNA and turning on/off parts of the DNA chain that is responsible for a particular disease. When you’re “looking at vesicles”, are primarily looking for Proteins or do you focus on DNA?

In the first phase, I started by looking at proteins that decorate the outside of the vesicles because they are easier to label (since they are on the outside!) and in the second phase of this project I started looking at things that are on the inside of the vesicles (RNA, DNA, and proteins). It’s more complicated experimentally to look at things that are inside the EVs but sometimes the marker that would clue us into a particular disease is on the inside so it was very important to figure out how to do this. Happy to report that I’m writing the paper on how to do this and it should be published soon!
