A day in the life of a Japanese Mangaka aka Manga Creator living in shared house in Tokyo Japan. This is life in Tokyo and life in Japan as an aspiring manga artists living with other mangaka in the same home. Nobi, 25 years old lives in the outskirts of Tokyo. Now living in this unique shared house reserved for only aspiring Manga artists. He lives with 3 other mangaka under this special program called Tokiwaso which provides a living space in addition to support to help develop a manga artist’s career. We follow his daily routine from when he wakes up in the morning in his Japanese home, what his life is like working in Japan as manga artist as well as what he does at night living in Japan. As an aspiring manga artist, his daily schedule varies quite a bit as he has the freedom to dictate his working hours, whether it be spending all his waking moments developing his craft or taking it easy to follow other pursuits. At the end of the day, Nobi knows it’s his personal responsibility to guide his success in becoming a professional mangaka so he puts in the time everyday to create as many opportunities for himself as possible.

I illustrate my own series and sometimes less is more, because it's easy to get way too overwhelmed, when the storyline or the picture is very full or complicated structured. Simple is not bad in any way and also doesn't equal easy. Simplicity oftentimes brings the point across much better too. Tokiwaso is a reference to a famous apartment building that housed legendary manga artists like Osamu Tezuka, Shotaro Ishinomori, Fujiko Fujio, Hideki Mizuno and many more. The building was demolished in 1982 but rebuilt in 2020 as a museum.

@@kawaiipotatoes7888 eh. You could argue that, but reality is that big western corporations have deemed the comic media a high risk low reward investment and will let it die sooner or later. Handle like champs? Not really. Like Nobi said, Mangaka lifestyle is very unhealthy and long hours and low pay usually. Even Mangaka like oda of one piece fame got sick from overworking himself. Such lifestyle is not healthy and in the long run can be very damaging to not just your body but also mind.. Especislly if you're not superfamous and rich /talented like oda. For every Oda, there's probably tens or even hundreds of thousands of low paid assistants and unknown and unpaid or low paid aspiring mangaka like Nobi. Just being mangaka is hard enough and u healthy enough on the body, but they even need to get a second job to support their passion of being a mangaka, which adds even more stress and takes away even more time from your deadline which is already hard to meet for many published mangakas of even well known series, even with lots of assistants helping full time.

@@ex0duzz Isn't the bad distribution of profits the source of the problems related with the profession? (well actually that can be said with any job...) even if the work of the artist becomes a hit, most of the profits go to the publisher rather than the creator, the same applies to anime adaptations, wasn't there the new that the autor of Demon Slayer only received a small part of the revenues of the movie despite the success?

Thinking about all the work that goes into this in terms of locating a person good for the video, and trying to get them to do as many entertaining things as possible is just insane.
