Hi everyone! Todays video is a little different than our usual videos but it is something I wanted to share, which is my progress in my career and maybe this could also inspire others who are also pursuing psychology undergrad or also in graduate school like me.
If anyone has any questions about either my job as an MHA and maybe wants me to film a in depth video of day in the life or my school feel free to comment down below! :)

This means so much to me, thank you ❤️🥹 unfortunately I actually moved to Florida and I am now attending a clinical psychology PsyD program so I no longer work as an MHA. It was a wonderful job though, and I more than happy to answer any questions you might have :)

I really enjoyed watching your video! I am a psychology major as well. I saw that you earned your bachelor's degree in psychology and was wondering if you can work with an associate's degree as an MHA? I love the psychology field and find mental health really important because it can cause a big change in our cognitive thinking.

Thank you so much for watching! That’s wonderful to hear, we need more people in the field always :) it is a very important field & can change many people’s lives. My job as an MHA did require a bachelors degree but I’m sure it depends on the hospital/ facility you apply at.

Hey! This video was super helpful and useful as I’m looking into becoming a BHA. I noticed you mentioned that you had a quiet day, but I was thinking of having this job while I do grad school. I’m curious, what is the general stress level of the position? I’m looking for something that’s not super mentally draining so I can put that focus into school. Thanks again for the vid! 😊

Hi! The general stress level of this position varied from day to day and depended on how short-staffed we were. The work tasks were the same every shift (unless you get floated to another unit and then you have different assigned tasks, which can be a little stressful at first). Overall you have plenty of support from the nurses and therapists and the scheduling is flexible (shifts in hospitals usually have a lot of variety for example you can have Per Diem and only work one to two times a week). How much do you get pay hourly? I’m a CNA for 4-5 years now and this fall semester I’m graduating with my bachelors in Psyc. I had no idea there was such thing as a mental health associate!

I got paid $19 an hour, it was a fun position, I loved the population I worked with.

It ranged from $18-22 an hour at-least in my hospital it did.

@@martaandmatt744 Hi there! Quick question! Where you required to attend an apt with "Occupational Medicine Employer Services" by any chance? Any kind of health screening before beginning work? If so, what did entail? So many questions, I know! Thanks for your video. Much appreciated 🙏

@@AB-zq4fw Hi there! Great questions no worries! I had to attend a physical and drug screening. During the physical, the hospitals' doctor or NP just checks that you are physically capable of lifting, holding, squatting, and check your vitals and medical history. Thanks for watching my video!!
