We are more than halfway through chemotherapy for breast cancer and wanted to share a life update! Welcome to a day in the life of a cancer patient at home ❤️‍🩹 Thank you to BetterHelp for sponsoring this video. Get 10% off your first month www.betterhelp.com/eamonandbec
On December 21, 2021 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. We embarked on a journey of healing beginning with 8 rounds of chemotherapy. Before chemo began I was terrified of losing my hair, of feeling weak and of becoming really sickly looking but I was determined to remain positive about how the treatment would affect me. Today we are sharing what a typical day looks like for us at home while living with cancer and the harsh effects of chemotherapy treatment. Our life at our cabin in the woods certainly looks different now than it did a year ago (think more napping, less building stuff 😜 ) but I hope anyone going through something similar may find a bit of hope in this episode. Maybe you feel a little less alone. Maybe you learn a new food trick. Or maybe you just take this as your reminder to go easy on yourself.
Sending you all so much love and gratitude. Your messages, comments and prayers are felt by us both and we appreciate them all so much.

I had stage 2 breast cancer 30 years ago. Went through chemo. Just lay on the couch for six months letting the drugs do their thing - didn't stress myself - decided to enjoy the only time in my life where I had a perfect excuse to watch TV all day long! After chemo is over, you recover quickly. I moved on --- detached from the whole thing - I did everything medically I was supposed to do but thought it was really important to not then become a "survivor". I returned to being me and never looked back, as though I had stepped over a dog pile on the sidewalk. It worked! Anyway, lots of love to you and don't worry --- this time will become just a memory - amazing, eh?

When my dad was going through his throat cancer I was a complete mess. I started cooking vegan meals for my dad during his treatment which helped me deal. Once we were given a plan for my father I felt so much relief. My dad is now 3 years No evidence of disease. Having solid support is important. This brings back SO many memories. I am 4 years and 3 months out from my stage 3 triple positive breast cancer diagnosis at 38. I had Carboplatin and Docetaxol x6 (and Herceptin for a year). The bone pain from the taxol was SO rough, and the mouth ulcers from the Platin were awful. I think you are doing amazing navigating your way through all of it the ups and downs. And I know what you mean about some of the pros of being bald! It’s wonderful to see Eamon sticking by your side and being such a great partner. It should be the way, and my husband was the same (including being the primary caregiver for our kids on my tough days), but some women’s partners either dont know how to handle it, or cut and run. Also, after years of begging on behalf of my youngest (who is now 9), we adopted our first dog at the end of January and she has brought SO much joy and light into our home. I am grateful my daughter kept pestering me about it ;) Wishing you both, and pup, all the best

I was told I had breast cancer at 18 the day of my graduation ceremony. Then I got a surgical biopsy instead of needle aspiration and weeks later after they tested it found out I was cancer free but could die any moment because it was a sub-tropic/tropic infection in my muscles that's only been found in the u.s. 2other times before me&I was the youngest and had never been south of PA at that point. Luckily after the biopsy and a month and a half of IV&oral antibiotics I was cured. I hope/pray you stay cancer free(in remission) forever. God bless you. Adding berries&Tumeric are good2eat when you have cancer though too, great job w. The berries!!!

I was working after receiving information about having breast cancer. I was supposed to have a nice week just getting through one week before going on Seasonal Leave but I had to fill in managing a light helicopter flying around giving updates on Wildland fires, I was really moody and noticed I was short tempered with everyone. I departed work and drove from Fairbanks to Anchorage. A week later I started treatment and had a lot of anxiety built up, but as treatment went on the anxiety reduced. I kept telling myself, This To Shall Pass! Again, I’m Grateful to have had such an amazing team at the hospital and support from family and friends. Take care!

My wife is going exactly what you're going through at the moment (one treatment behind you it seems) and it's hard not to get emotional watching someone else go through it. She has one more treatment with AC and then Taxol comes next. This has been one of the most painful experiences we have ever gone through, but we are soldiering on. I'm so sorry that you're going through this and thank you for sharing your story. I know it sounds super cliche but you will both get through this and come out the other end stronger. I hope you're both doing well and sending those healing vibes your way.

Take it day by day moment by moment. Don’t let anyone define who you are Based on some disease! You are still Bec! On 9/11 2001, My wife and I were in the basement of U Of M hospital waiting for a surgeon to remove my son’s leg that I had to say yes to. I hope you never have to experience the excruciating pain of giving permission to cut your 14 year old sons leg off! He was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma at the age of nine. I also found that! Throughout the five years of mental stress and peace inducing prayers , I even wondered if I had never found it would it even exist. Seriously! I am very excited to say that my son is now a 35 years old a physics major and software programmer doing well and stealing all of the ladies with the smoothest moves on the dance floor with one leg that two legged men are too shy to approach to even talk to. Andrew is known in downtown Detroit, where he lives, as “ The Mayor!” He struts like he owns the street. And if you’re walking next to him you will never know that he is a hip disarticulated amputee. Throughout at all he only cried one time and asked me why. I told him your choices to live or die. He said he chose to live! And oh boy has he! Andrew did not disappear into cancer. But cancer was assimilated by him. Its resistance was futile. Live every moment well Bec! Nothing was ever promised. You just are now focused enough to know it.

Best news about Oso! Never enough dog in the videos! We have two and love travelling with our buds! You are doing so well both of you! Having a dog is a gift and especially going through what you are going through, he will be your focus, distraction, love, shoulder to cry on, your reason to get up when you are feeling down and give you another reason to smile. Keep doing what you're doing xx

And Eamon? All I can say is you are definitely a keeper. Godspeed to us all. ❤️

I’m so so happy that you are a foster fail - when you know, you know! And it was so clear he was family right from the start, even to us. He came into your life at just the right time. So glad for Oso - he’s bonded so much with you both. Also, there’s never such a thing as too much dogs, especially when they are as sweet as Oso

Never, ever too much dog! LOL Oso is so entertaining!! He is shedding his winter coat, so more brushing is probably a need for a while. My dog did that too. I am glad you are slogging through, embracing the little things, and a foster fail is fantastic! Eamon, I think you are being exactly what she needs, just by being there for her. You guys are a great team, and we are all sending you love and light!
