Day in the life of a Endodontic Dental Assistant 🦷 || FIRST YEAR HERE 

It is chill unless the doctor can’t find a canal, an instrument gets stuck, or the patient is dentalphobic 😅 and also if we get like 3 emergency patients at the end of the day 😬 I applaud you for being in pediatrics 👏🏼

maybe it is not the same type of 3D x ray? Our CBCT only captures one side of the mouth at a time (like the UR, UL, LL, and LR) But it allows us to see the bone loss more clearly and where the canals are and how many canals a tooth has :)

@@MelanieLunaDiaz the orthodontist usually asks us to take one, when there is a short root tooth or a weird tooth that’s hidden and can’t be seen with a pano, it’s really rare

Lol Thank you! I worked hard on that xD and yes, we get alot of “high profile” patients, don’t work with insurance, and charge a pretty penny per exam/procedure. So we gotta make sure our office is high quality and clean from every nook and crany 🧹 and even though we have the CBCT 3D x ray machine, we still take a PA at the end of the procedure, and sometimes taking it from diff angles can be extremely frustrating for us as wdll😕 I feel you girl!

@@MelanieLunaDiaz that explains it ! I have to take like 5 through out the procedure and then final, but I like the practice, it makes me want to go into that specialty eventually ☺️

@@lcknky oh wow! You guys don’t have electronic apex locator then? (In general we didn’t have it either and that’s why various x rays had to be taken too) That’s great to hear though!! If you do go into endo, the procedures are so much shorter than in GD and simpler bc of all the specialty gadgets 🤖

@@MelanieLunaDiaz we have the apex locater but I think they just want to be sure. I just hope I get into a good office and the drs are nice to work with 🤞

oh trust me, I told myself I was never going to work at a root canal specialty office for like a year XD It is very overwhelming at first, but my coworker who is 3 months fresh out of DA school learned very quickly. (Because it is always the same set up and procedures) cx we don't see too many patients either bc one root canal is 2.5k :P I pray you'll have fun at your new job!! :D General is a lot of fun

Omg that’s my biggest fear!! And I actually did place it on the wrong tooth one time… 😬 good thing doc caught it before we started drilling 😂 ever since then, I always TRIPLE check. I’ll be doing video once we get back in the office :3

I APPLAUD you for interning at an endo office!! That is very bold and brave!! 👏🏼👏🏼and awe man I know how you feel :( my internship had a very mean doctor too :/ find motivation in the procedure itself and the patients leaving satisfied and happy! :) also keep reminding yourself that once you get enough experience, you can leave and find a better place with a better doctor

I did my internship at an office where I had the same problem the Dr was so rude to me to the point where I didn’t want to go anymore. She always complained about my x rays, the way I would assist and set up for her. She was never happy so every time I had to assist her or deal with her I would just ask her lots of questions and would even tell her to let me know right then and there what I’m doing wrong. And I would always remind her that I was new to this! Eventually it became a bit easier to work with her because I learned to work around her but I was never really comfortable working with her because she was still a lil mean so after I finished my intern I applied to other places and I was only at that office for 2 months (this month would’ve been 3) and thankfully I found a place who hired me. It’s funny because at the end she didn’t want me to leave because she wanted a lot of assistants there, but I didn’t feel happy working there especially because I knew I couldn’t avoid her. Well I just started my new job 2 days ago and I feel so much better! So I wish you luck! Don’t worry just because you started your intern there doesn’t mean you have to stay. You can always apply to other places once you’re done with your intern :)

Yes :) I wear XXS catarina top, and XS petite zamora joggers. Atleast figs has free returns, it took me a while to find my size xD

I’m sorry for you, the system in the US is very different from that in Germany. In Germany we have to go to school 2 times a week and 3 times a week we’re working at the office. So everyone who’s in training has a lot of experience, and you’re getting paid.

Make sure your resume is very thorough in what you learned in dental assistant school and also say you are a fast learner and know the basics. Hope you can find a job soon! Just apply to many even if they’re not very close !

It’s a little more laid back in the sence there are not so many patients in a day, but there are alot of emergency patients in endo which can make it a little stressful 🥵

Lol I know what you mean xD Everyone in my class and the first office I worked at hated endo (including me 😬) BUT I’m telling you right now, the DOCTOR and atmosphere makes ALL the difference!! My doctor is super funny and personable and we talk throughout the whole procedure. We also have great music playing overhead so its fun singing and even dancing along during the procedure xD

I don’t believe there’s much of a difference. I was hired based on my experience with school and externship. Though most jobs want you to have at least 1+ years experience and Edda so it can be tricky finding a job in that aspect

As long as you have your license and experience in your externship, it doesn’t really matter what school you go into :)

I’ve been in endo for a year now! And trust me, it gets easier and shorter as you keep doing it alot :P the doctor being really sociable and funny helps too cx AND THE MUSIC!

Unbelievably they do! I just had to ask permission :D Of course it came with a few conditions, like filming while I'm off the clock and sending the recordings to manager for approval. and WOW! I didn't know you were a DA TOO!! :o
