I like the “once over” shadow gives the hotel room . How he is Carefully smelling n checking each room individually lol 😂 Such a nice doggo! Oh and that Hamner Springs (Sp?) place wit that wide trail looked like so much fun!!
Vanessa how you deal with shedding. Any given time my GSD is shedding our tons hair. It gets on everything he walks by. I wonder if this is normal. I brush him everyday. I wonder if I need to change his foo d to help with shedding. How’s Shadow doing? I look close and don’t see much loose hair on him.
Yes, this is very normal for German Shepherds. A couple of times a year this breed of dog will 'blow coat' creating a lot of shedding. When my GSD is blowing coat I can brush him and get a trash can load of hair off of him. Not much you can do about it, it's just the way it is
Wonderful video. I think your use of the portable ramp does a great deal to help Shadow with his dysplasia and helps prevent it from becoming any worse. Dog-friendly hotels can be notorious for picking up fleas no matter how clean they seem to be. You might want to consider checking Shadow carefully once you get back home or just go ahead and give him a bath and your car a thorough interior cleaning since fleas in the house can be difficult to eradicate once you get them.
I’m not going to be that asshole that was like you left ur dog unattended to a tree, but did you have to leave him outside the pool place or could he not be left alone at motel was it really a dog friendly motel or did they have strict guide lines. I would be pretty hesitant about leaving my dog outside on a tree
An option was to leave him at the motel unattended with the risk of him breaking something inside or have him outside the pools with the centre notified my dog was there and I was allowed to go in and out of the pools to check on him as I pleased. I chose the latter option.
You need to be firm and be EXTREMELY patient with them my husky is a service dog so she didn’t really have an option but with my another dog She was trained by being persistent
Hi Vanessa, I am getting a German Shepherd soon and a Mercedes SUV. Are they comfortable in the car in the boot? Are they happy enough on 2 hour car journeys?
Every dog will be different and how they behave in a car. Shadow is completely fine in the boot for a long time - he doesn’t complain or bark. I also know some dogs that are very bad when traveling (whining, vomit, barking)
I’m looking to get a German Shepherd puppy in the near future so that it can keep my fiancé company while I’m at work. I’ve seen a lot of your videos, and I love Shadows temperament. I love how well trained he is, how calm and friendly he seems around the family, around other people and other dogs. He also seems like he doesn’t bark as often. My question is, what are some key major tips that maybe you can share with me to help me train up my German Shepherd like yours. I really want it to be obedient, very friendly towards people and other animals, and also not bark as much ( if that’s possible). What are some thing you all did to get shadow to be such a friendly and calm dog?? Please help if you will Sent from my iPhone
Yup, I notified the hot pools reception and they were happy with it. I also came out to check on him and refill his water every 30minutes, which I obviously didn’t show in the video
Keep in mind that was food for when he’s away from home. It’s all dried food + supplements for convenience and practicality. Even with his ‘away from home’ food, it’s all very high in nutrient and quality
