I have considered it but currently not pursuing one due to the huge time commitment. Surprisingly, not many people I've encountered throughout my career have a CFA and I think the stats show ~5% have CFAs across the industry. I've heard a lot of good things about Huberman, will definitely have to check him out!

The latter - never once came across the idea of technical analysis in college but some portfolio managers will incorporate it into their trade decisions.

I code in Python. In terms of skills, data manipulation is a big one. Applying quantitative techniques and other more advanced stuff is actually relatively simple with the amount of Python packages available these days.

Pretty consistent hrs throughout the year, 50 hrs a week on average.

Not "necessary" but highly recommended.

It's essentially a daily email I send alerting PMs with some important pieces of information regarding the products/instruments they're trading like futures spot dates, rule changes by exchanges, things like that. More to do with operational risks than market risks in this case.

I think it would help if you have a dual major or minor in finance or economics unless you’re applying for a technology or quant trading role that is more coding focused. It depends though, if you network well or have finance related items on your resume, you could make it work since CS is becoming a more and more sought after skill in finance.

Not particularly - I mostly take the articles at face value and then do research myself to confirm. It helps to read through a few articles just to see what the common themes are though.

That answer depends a lot on the type of analyst but there's a video on my channel where I talk about 5 skills that are generally applicable to most roles.

I was actually programming a different tool. Stress tests are calculated using the fund's in-house methods and with 3rd party risk management software.

You should use the Sharpe ratio and compare it to the Sharpe of the S&P. Throw all your monthly returns and S&P monthly returns into a spreadsheet, find the mean and standard deviation of each. Then do (mean return - risk free rate) / standard deviation of returns to get the Sharpe ratio

Unfortunately, I don't want to actively divulge any information about my employer for the sake of keeping my work and personal endeavors separate. Hope that's understandable!

I am actually don’t trade myself, I help to analyze and manage the risk of portfolio managers. However, the traders will usually use Bloomberg or the prime broker’s trading platforms usually.

Credentials can get you in the door but I would say experience and developing a good track record would be a key step to starting your own fund.

nvm lol answered my own question. A better question- how important do you think coding is for the finance industry? I'd like to work in the markets as some kind of analyst and honestly don't know a lick of code. I studied some super basic python a while back but i've already forgotten most of it. I can tell it'd take some fairly serious dedication, which I'm not afraid of, but on top of school it could get hectic. I know I'm gonna have to dedicate a good 2 semesters worth towards mastering excel, etc. How much extra value do you think a solid knowledge of python/another language would add? Thanks so much
