A Day in the Life of a Japanese Game Designer also know in Japan as a Game Planner for a Japanese Development Company. This is life working in Tokyo in the Japan Game Industry developing games for mobile devices. It includes the average work day and typical working hours of a Japanese office. If you want to learn what it is like working in the Japan game industry then this video should help provide insight on the type of work life and work culture in Japan. Shuta works as a Lead Game Designer aka Game Planner at Colopl. One of the largest mobile game developers in Japan popular for making casual mobile games like Shironkeo Project, Meow Meow and Star Acres. With about 800 employees in their Tokyo office, their creative teams produce a wide variety of mobile games. As a Japanese game planner, it’s important to have strong management and communication skills. It’s not enough to be creative and come up with ideas, but a planner must also be able to organize these ideas, create proposals and specification documents in order to effectively communicate their ideas to their teams. Apparently, it took a total of 7 years of development to complete the game Neko Golf. In fact, the development itself froze after 4 years, but then was later restarted and the team restructured when Shuta joined the team 3 years ago. For many playing the game, they’ll probably never truly understand how much time went into creating it, but for the team I’m sure there’s a great sense of completing the game.

It seems like gaming companies and other creative types of companies are more liberal when it comes to stuff like appearance. Shuta has dyed hair and the HR dude has a beard. Both I think are often not allowed at most companies. I also noticed this in the Netherlands where I live when I did an internship at Mediamonks, people were very creative mentally but you could also see it in their appearance.

Day in the Life are my fav series among all the fantastic content that you make. Thanks a lot for all the work that you and Maiko put on each of the videos. One suggestion :D a few days ago was the 2023 edition of the Hakone Ekiden. Would it be possible to do a Day in the Life of one of the runners for the 2024 edtion? Among the many amazing things in Japan is that they have a huge running culture and an industry that revolves the Ekiden. Anyway, thanks a lot again. Cheers!

Hi Paolo, this is straight from the heart, this series "Day in the Life" and "Behind the Counter" are probably the best content created for this platform. I love how the videos are edited and you provide all the information in them. I always been amazed and fascinated and somehow connected to the Asian Cultures especially to Japanese.... probably because I was growing up on anime shows like DragonBallZ, One Piece, Naruto. Love the content please do not stop haha :D ! Cheers from Slovakia

dude, I just loved this video - honestly. the people's energy in this company looks great, and all the friends at the all, seems really connected. i definitely miss this kind of thing since start of the pandemic, where not only me (of course), but most people stopped going to the office, which at the end, there wasn't connection at all with other people. that being said, i truly wish to be working, similar to this, soon. again, loved the video!
