Day in the life of a jobbing plumber
In todays video I complete a number of plumbing jobs including fitting a floor drain, an outside tap, unblocking a sink waste, changing a ball valve in an attic and we look at a heating system. I show you my tips and tips along the way and bring you a long for the journey.
As always, thanks so much for watching, all the support is greatly appreciated.

Just had the misfortune to employ our 'village plumber' to move a radiator from one wall to another, about 6 feet away. Don't know how long it would take the average plumber but after 5 hours I sacked him and finished the job myself. He didn't even get to re-fill the system and I even fitted the wall brackets for him 😮. I'll put money on him not having a single qualification.

Hi Tim I’ve been in the heating game over 40 years and have never seen a rad piped like that. As you said I bet that rad has never worked When we installed one pipe systems we used what are called Armstrong tees which had an internal flute to direct the water that was on mild steel installations 🤝

Great content as always. With that bypass, would the reason they have done it is because there are TRV on the rads, if the TRV turns off, it would kill the whole system. With the bypass, at least the water has somewhere to go. Who knows, just my tuppence worth 🤗

It might have been, I would have thought it would have just turned that leg off if the trv shut, we will find out when I go back to put them back on, thanks for watching 👍

Hi Tom, a nice selection of plumbing jobs that made another nice film, thank you. I have seen a few one pipe systems in my time but not seen any for a very long time now. I don't see what's wrong with that first radiator clip, looks correct to me.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 3 месяца назад
The flow and return are linked together creating a bypass, the water will go through there rather than through the radiator
@altvamp
@altvamp 3 месяца назад
@@PlumbLikeTom That's kinda how it's supposed to be although perhaps not the best layout, the bypass should've been across the bottom between the left and right pipes but I suspect the radiator may still warm up.
@dennisphoenix1
@dennisphoenix1 3 месяца назад
I have only seen a one pipe system in a domestic house once , customer complaining the bathroom radiator was luke warm. Was the last on the upstairs circuit so no susprise it wasn't warm. That vertical radiator might get warm at the bottom but nowhere else.

@pops6638
@pops6638 3 месяца назад
Just why? I can only assume it was in case they wanted to isolate that radiator, and keep the circuit flowing.
@markrainford1219
@markrainford1219 3 месяца назад
If you draw it out on paper (I did lol) it's actually correct. If there wasn't a TRV the 'bypass' wouldn't be there and it would just be a normal one-pipe system.
