Congratulations sister in Christ and sister in phlebotomy. I'm a phlebotomy tech and as of TODAY, accepted my first job in the field!!!! So happy for you.
It is gonna go great! Remember: You were thoroughly trained in this practice and you are gonna do just fine. After your first day, you'll feel like a natural :)
Hey I recently ran across your page and will soon be starting my phlebotomy course and just wanted to say I appreciate your videos and inspirational advice
Just finished my phlebotomy training and I just started applying to jobs. I am so excited, but also nervous to be sticking real patients compared to sticking my classmates lol
Yassss Jordan 👏 celebrating 🥳 you! Congratulations 🎈 I totally understand 💯 I was there and two years later it feels like a breeze. The more you draw the more you’ll get use to it. I always say a pray or talk to myself before I draw to motivate me! You got this stay confident! Thank you healthcare hero!
Let’s go!!!!!!! Remember to get your vehicle checked more often than usual because you’ll be driving more often! You got this! Build that resume get even more experience! Only up from here! ♥️
Congrats🙌💪 I'm so happy for you! I'm in my second week of phlebotomy school and I love it! I want to work at a plasma center or hospital? Here in Ohio they need people badly in every medical field. Thanks for sharing traveling phlebotomy looks cool something different everyday👍
I just finished my phlebotomy courses and collected my 25 sticks and my NHA exam is this Saturday I’m nervous but yet so excited and you seem so happy in this career I’m hoping I can reach that school was definitely fun !
I'm in Trinidad and currently studying Phlebotomy. I really want to work outside of the Caribbean tho. Hopefully it's in the UK. I came across your channel today and you really encourage me. I felt stuck for too long and I saw everyone becoming someone with a career and that's tough but I really want to do something in the medical field and help people. I think from here I want to be a dialysis tech but I'll see how that goes. Studying is expensive.
Unfortunately that’s how the world is one must invest in one’s self. Life is all about sacrifice. Don’t get discouraged! You can do this! I’m proud of you and your career path in the medical field we need more of us.
I'm almost done with phlebotomy school. And I love how you break it down ,girl !!!!!! And congratulations I'm happy for you 😍😍👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yes queen !!!!!! So happy. My inspiration. Can we get some more phlebotomy vids on courses etc.... I'm having trouble understanding Quality assurance and all the different agencies. I am not from the US and I'm finding it hard. But when I'm finish I plan on moving to the US to work. Thanks in advance
I got my license in 2021 I got my first job at a plasma center and got so down in the dumb because I wanted more out of my career I would always apply at different places and get turned away low and behold 2022 I got a job at Children’s Hospital as a phlebotomist stay down before you come up patience is key. 🎉
Unfortunately, some areas do pay that much, however, you can always negotiate your pay 💰. Some people in the medical field have to work their way up. I know phlebotomists right now who have discussed their pay and I know some who have started out with $15 and now they are making $28 at Kaiser with only 2 years of experience.
I'm a mobile phelb in and out of nursing homes. It can be a lot of draws at once. Do you not draw a lot? You dont look like you have a lot in your kit! I'm trying to find a better way of traveling. My kit is so heavy :(
Hi, Ive been a travel phlebotomist for 2 years. I also go to nursing homes have approximately 60 patients a day in 6 nursing home. The best way is to have a sewing kit and portable cart.
For how long were you looking for a job? I’m just wondering how long after my program could be looking for a job? Thank you so much for your video it was so helpful and entertainment keep doing more 😊
Andrea Rodriguez Everyone has different love just remember to check your computer every single day I joined indeed and turned on notifications and I got hired with my second phlebotomy and my first phlebotomy job through indeed so I do recommend indeed as well. It was about 4 months until I got officially hired. I applied every single day or every other day and I didn’t give up!
Hi my dear! No, I’m not I’m in California ☀️ I always wanted to adventure in NY! I have no clue in regards to the state of NY, but I hopeful some companies do provide a car. Don’t give up ask around. I know if they don’t provide you with one they have gas reimbursement.
I have a quick question! So I have an interview for a phlebotomist position any advice? And do you get trained at all when you get hired? I know you’re a mobile phlebotomist, my interview is for a position in the hospital! Thank You 🙏🏽
Angel Kedi Hi 👋 thanks for watching! Good luck during your interview! When I had my externship at a hospital they trained me for only one day. They expect you to have experience and they want you to be a fast learner. My advice is take a few notes 📝 as a reminder on their protocols. They will will probably want you to perform Venipuncture’s on your first day after asking you a series of questions regarding your phlebotomy experience. Good luck sweetheart!
Hi God Bless you love your pure Spirit.and as I always say too Glory ALL to GOD🙏Congratulations thank u for your video I'm also a Phlebotomist took me along while for my 1st interview but Praise God everything is on his time.🙏🤗
Congratulations! I'm thinking of going into phlebotomy rather than getting a BA in healthcare administration. I'm almost done getting a A.S degree as a Medical Office Professional. I'm bilingual as well. What's your advice? God Bless. 🙏
Hi Francesca! I am working as a CPT1 now and going back to school to get my BA in Clinical Science. I recommend you always shoot for the stars and get a degree, and you can work as a CPT1 while doing so!
I just finished my course but now I need to do 30 sticks before taking the exam. Do you know any good places that will allow me to do this? thank youuu :)
hi yessica hey :) thanks for replying and watching! Your school that you go to should be contracted to places. Check your near by labs in hospitals, and check your nearby Urgent Cares. You got this!
I just got hired as a new mobile phlebtomist too! I’m fine with most of the locations, but then there’s two locations that are an hour away! Ah! Was yours like that too?
Hi Amanda thank you for your comment and question. At the time I used my own car but every company is different love. Some have rideshares some provide you with their own company car, and you get gas + mileage pay :)
I’m currently in the path to become a phlebotomist, just a quick question. How long are the courses ? Is there different type of phlebotomist programs? I’m considering to sign up the same school you did but In Torrance.
Daysi Buenaventura Hey thank you for watching :) and congratulations on your career choice! School is about 2-3 weeks or 2 months just depends on the course you have chosen for yourself. If you do one day Saturday school I do believe that is longer a much longer course I believe that takes two months to three months to complete. If you do a weekly course it only takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete the course. Now that’s not including your externship (40 hours), NHA test you must complete to get your license, immunizations, and your background tests. I recommend AUMT it’s a great school.
Great question! Adhere to Respiratory Hygiene/Cough Etiquette and Standard Precautions: Adhere to routine infection control procedures, including appropriate respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette and sharps handling precautions for preventing the transmission of infectious agents. Evaluate the risk of exposure; and select, implement, and ensure workers use controls to prevent exposure. Follow Routine Hand Hygiene Practices: Follow hand hygiene guidance to help prevent person-to-person spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses. Staff should wash hands with soap and water between contacts with different blood donors. If gloves are used, change gloves and cleanse hands between contact with different blood donors. With regard to staff safety, the wearing of gloves and hand cleansing are governed by OSHA requirements pertaining to bloodborne pathogens. Healthcare personnel should adhere to Standard and Transmission-based Precautions when caring for patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. N95 respirator/ Face Mask/ Face shield/ Gown/ Gloves/ etc... Next, CPT1’s should clean and disinfect environmental surfaces afterwards using the anti viral disinfectant.
Hey Thanks for watching! I recently just got a new job at LabCorp check out my newest Vlog. To answer your question they paid $1 per mile after 15 miles and no they didn’t provide a company car. I also got paid $25 per draw.
Raysheuna Nelson I don’t remember the exact questions but I do remember it was like several unexpected questions on the NHA that surprised me with haha 🤣 Overall no it wasn’t hard at all.
Hey how long did you practice or where did you work at while getting ready to work as a traveling phlebotomist? Like after you graduated school, where did you work between graduating and working as a travel phlebotomist? My teacher said she doesn’t recommend going into travel right after graduation.:/
RÿzeTV great questions! I worked at a clinic and a hospital I should have clogged it but I didn’t and I didn’t talk about it which I should have included in this video! I also went back to school to draw on students and volunteered to gain more experience!
Jocelyn V Hey:) Great question. They know you are fresh out of school towards the end and they also acknowledge that you are there to learn ... mind you you aren’t getting paid for it so you are just there to learn and complete your schooling. it’s still apart of school training really because without your extern you can’t legal get your certification or License in the state of California and other states you know? At my externship in the hospital (linked in the description) they took their time and actually trained me for 2 days they were kind and patient and then they let me do me :) and I excelled! I guess it just depends on your environment everyone is different but I am going to speak it into existence that people are kind and patient with you.
Cheesy tacos hey 👋 West coast gang lol 😂 I live in the IE like an hour and 30 from you! Thanks for watching! Phlebotomy has been good to me but the ultimate goal is to become a scientist! Phlebotomy pay you well and great benefits like $20 an hour depending where your hired. I went to AUMT it’s great school!!!!
Veronica Valdez It was like that here in Cali. Don’t give up keep trying! Look up small labs or insurance companies who need Mobil phlebotomist. Look into labcorp and Quest I hear they are easy to get into no experience required for some. Stay the course stay motivated. Also look up people who are hiring for covid testing you can swab them for like $20 /hr you got this believe in yourself💪 apply everyday to jobs. It took me 4 months to get hired and that’s okay I applied to jobs every other day and sometimes everyday I never gave up!
Hi thans for your question :) Class was two weeks. Then I had to prepare for my NHA exam which was 1-2 weeks after my NHA exam I had to get an externship for one week in a hospital and then I applied for my Phleb L's. The whole entire process in California took four-five months to complete my dear. Everyone is different that is just my experience my dear. Are you thinking of becoming a CPT? :)
Walt Thank you for watching my starting pay at my first phlebotomy job was $25 per blood draw. Other companies starting out could be anywhere between $17-$30 an hour
When I was mobile phlebotomist I was only drawing about 4-20 patients per day and covid testing I was swabbing 20-200 people per day. It depends on the site. I work part time(4-5 hours) in a known lab currently and I draw a total of 25-40 patients a day, and I process about 20-200 specimens a day.
