Hey guys I am currently a network analyst with hopes of soon moving into Cyber Security.
In this video I will be taking you guys through my day as a network analyst working out of a NOC (Network Operation Center).
Its really hard to film in these types of environments so please ask me any questions you may have in the comments below.

I watched this video a year ago when it was recommended to me by RU-vid and since then, I began watching tech videos mostly about networking and cybersecurity. I was motivated by this video to get a career in IT and network monitoring interested me. Few months ago, I began applying and I here to say I've been accepted for a NOC technician and I've no networking experience except the networking courses I took in college. I'm ready to work extra hard to get a SOC analyst role by April next year. That's my goal 🙏

This is a simple part of the life of a NOC analyst or specialist. Many times, it could be so rigorous, especially where outages are increasing and prolonged and network availability (PTTCH) are dropping. They called us essential workers! I do work 8am-7pm and vice versa depending on the shift. More like a doc/nurse kinda life; working round the clock, especially during the pandemic while keeping the world connected, irrespective of the security situation. Glad to see this!! I'll be moving on to greater things in the IT soonest. The work is most times monotonous, could be boring and too routine, but so draining too cos you're always resolving issues, escalating almost all through your shift and creating and closing TTs. I work in the biggest Towerco in Africa. Nice one!

Haha, I watched this video last year when I was working in basic pc hardware job where I was just testing parts. I have been working in NOC for 6 months now. I tell you, its not for everyone. I never went to school for network but I was lucky to get the job because I interviewed well. I have a slightly different take on it. My shift is 1 PM to 9 PM. This shift allows me to go to school in the mornings. There is so much to learn and to do as a NOC person. The only difference of my rewatching this video is that the first time, I could not relate and didn't understand the video. Now, I am part of the video as I live my life as a NOC Engineer.

@@drumyogi9281 August will be my 1 year anniversary and I still enjoy what to do. Was able to receive employee of the month around my 7th month of which showed that my hard work paid off. My manager is going over data recovery training today of which I will be responsible once I completely learn it. Once in a while, I get to train with the Help Desk department to get used to talking with clients. One thing that is stressful part is not having enough experience speaking with clients on a regular basis as Help Desk does. Video is nice . I worked for a small company as NOC Engineer. The field is challenging. Sometimes we get back to back calls from clients while Manager is asking status standing next to you. Meanwhile members from other teams pop in to your desk for status and lot of emails internally and from Clients Situation will be worse during rainy and Cyclones. Sometimes we get more than 50 outages, logging ticket manually itself will be time consuming (3 minutes for each ticket)

I was averaging a call every 20 minutes 24/7.. didn't take any certs big mistake! I however got promoted to lead NOC tech in 3 months maybe cos of my leadership/result orientation trait. Got burnt out, asked to move down role, manager wasn't happy but I did, two months later given more responsibilities... 😂 My good performance was working against me...resigned without having a job lined up... struggled to find a job ever since 3yrs this Dec, the company even closed shop. Planning to switch to data analysis because I did a lot of reporting and mttr dashboards or maybe I will start racking up certs. What is the best route! Check out WGU, they have an accelerated Cyber security program for your bachelor's and masters. I haven't looked go much in that program, but it's definitely worth checking out. It's pretty cheap all things considered, and you get a ton of certifications on top of your degree.
