I just got hired for OGP and my orientation is tomorrow. I have THE worst social anxiety and I’m autistic. This is my first “real” job and I have no idea what to expect.
@@thrilla1111 I had an over the phone interview and I basically listened to her talk the whole time. The only questions she asked me were.... 1. Are you available on weekends? 2. How do you feel about costumer service, because you will have to interact with some customers? (I basically just said I love meeting new ppl and do well with strangers)
aah i'm the exact same haha. i wish good luck for all of us here edit: I've been working here for almost two weeks now! it's actually pretty easy and honestly kinda fun, just remember to ask a lot of questions so you aren't left in the dark
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been doing the computer BS all day and I don’t learn very well by reading stuff. I do much better by watching somebody do it. I’ve been so stressed out about it, this video helped me to understand so much. You’re an absolute angel for that.
I'm on the track to becoming a personal shopper soon- this helps me a lot with seeing how exactly it's done!! I've been writing all sorts of notes on a little note card so I can be as prepared as I can.
I just started last week and so far i'm enjoying it. It's fun! it's like a game. Thanks for the "time pause" tip. I'll keep in my mind. Also, I notice that having a phone holder is a plus, i went along and bought a phone holder armband. :)
Just had my orientation earlier today. I'll be doing cbls tomorrow. Would you say it's an easy job? I see them flying around the store all the time 😂 I worked there years ago but in clothing
@peopleseditz yeah, lovin' it! I made a lot of friends. Mind you, I'm working there temporarily until I finish school, which is by the end of this year. I'll miss walmart for sure, haha!
1 year ago I saw this video after getting hired as a personal shopper. Job was ridiculously easy, but I didn’t make it past my 2nd day. I had previously worked 6 years at another grocery store and wanted a change of scenery, but realized I was just too burnt out from retail.
i have my orientation for this exact position so i’ve been looking around everywhere for videos. i’m still confused (ofc i haven’t been yet) but this was definitely the best video i’ve seen ❤️
@@AdrianRod_760 two days in. everyone i work with is probably the sweetest person i've ever met. the lady who trained me today is so awesome and was SO THOROUGH. easy job, don't be scared to ask about anything you're confused about. you got this
If you see this and you are a Walmart customer please use a grocery cart when you're shopping. I also work for Walmart as maintenance aka janitorial and I am oh so tired cleaning up behind customers who choose not to have a cart and then drop something on the floor. And if you know you are clumsy please just let somebody like this lovely young lady get your groceries for you please
Thanks for this video. I've been using the service since mid 2017 but other than seeing people move around the store with the carts on the rare occasion that I'm in the store, I had no idea how the actual process worked.
I am also a personal shopper/OGP for the past 15 months (in Maryland) and have never heard of stringing carts. Wow!! Can’t wait to try it at work tomorrow.
@@harmony2027 it’s an hourly pay, can range from $12 to $15 depending on your location and if you are promoted to team lead you will make $24+ per hour
I start orientation tomorrow I'm nervous !! I just want to be able to get the job done, haven't worked since being diagnosed with epilepsy in 2019 and I just hope I'm capable 🙏
Thank you so much for sharing this video! It really helped me to understand more about how picking works, my first day was yesterday, I had to work in back dispensing, I really did not like that LOL but they let me try picking today and I loved it and wasn't too bad for my first day LOL but a lot had to do with your video, you have the best videos, very informative! Thank you again! Have a blessed day!
Same, first day on the job and I dispensed in the blustering cold. Id rather be stuck inside scanning. Gonna make sure my pick rate is solid so Im not expected to dispense.
I worked in this position for only a week before I quit... No regrets.. It's not for everyone. It's extremely fast paced plus they expected you to know everything on day one. At least at the store I worked at
@Ieathumanz Same here it was day 1 for me, and tmr I will be on the floor again with someone. I honestly don't like it, and I applied to another job with the same company different store as cashier and a few others. Definitely not for everyone
Thank You For This Videos, It’s helping me a lot, Just had an interview yesterday, waiting on my background & praying it comes back soon, cause this looks like fun & chill & i am willing to learn more so I will continue watching your videos until I start! Thanks Again & keep it coming please.
Yes I really love being a personal shopper and I hope you do as well. I hope everything goes well and you’re able to start soon! Thank you so much for watching, Tekesha 💕
I applied for this job but I'm not sure I can handle it with my social anxiety. Do you have to talk and coordinate with your coworkers often? And do you ever need to use a walkie talkie?
No, you actually don’t have to interact with your coworkers if you don’t want to. The only time I really engage with other people is when I’m shopping and a customer asks me the price of something or asks me where an item is. Only managers and team leads use walkie talkies.
I feel you so hard with the social anxiety, but the only way you can beat it is by going through it and not avoiding it. Im telling you it really does get better and you start to cope easier when you expose yourself to uncomfortable settings. Eventually you will be comfortable with the uncomfortable. I wish you the best ❤️
Thanks you were right Kaylee. My anxiety is getting better. I've had the job for 7 weeks now. I applied as personal shopper but they have me taking orders out to the customers cars (dispensing), staging and cleaning totes. I've never picked, yet. I have to interact with coworkers a little bit when we're organizing orders or when we have issues. And sometimes I have to answer calls from customers telling us they've arrived and what parking spot they're in. Also once in a while I have to answer customer service calls about items missing from their order or other issues. Customers stop me in the store to ask questions while I'm taking out or bringing orders back inside as well I'm getting used to it. It's a decent job. Better than stocking I'd say. The biggest problems have been rude customers which are rare, and trying to get along with customers and coworkers despite my anxiety, quietness and awkwardness.
@@elanderan1104 i feel you because i’m honestly the same. i’m also a personal shopper and it isn’t so bad but it does catch me off guard when customers come up to me and ask where something is. i get quiet and very unsure since i’m still new. i’m trying my best to talk to my co workers too but its very difficult bc its seems like a comforting habit to just be quiet and do my job.
I got hired for this job last year and tbh it’s pretty easy you just need some good shoes bc those floors made my feet hurt walking all day… the reason I quit was bc management was horrible at my Walmart, they cut my hours and I found out I was 2 months pregnant so I just left 😅
I should be starting this week!! Got the job offer two days ago, not gonna lie I'm excited but also worried as this is my first ever job. Any good tips?? I have hear that if you pick up all items first and scan them all after at the end is "cheating" wouldn't it be a lot quicker that way? As everytime you look and scan the item, you waste some seconds + it helps Getting order done a bit more faster making the clients happy. Right now at my Walmart they were looking to hire people as they were low on staff, but now there's a good amount of people that is starting to work this week just like me!
@@siddyx111 I actually started to work today it was good but I have to change my schedule as the managers are not letting me work part-time in the morning even though that that's what I apply for and that's what they offer me to do. I am now waiting to see if the accepted the hours I selected to work between the week and the weekends . But overall it is actually a very very fun job! I really love it today! Yes sometimes you do have to carry things and move around a lot while there's customers but it is really fun and entertaining when you have great team group!!
LOL I work in OPD and I’ll let y’all know that I bag with one hand sometimes, I almost never touch the bag handles cause I stick the item straight in the bag and strategically place the item in a back corner of the tote if it’s a big item or in a front corner if I can fit more in it later. I pick 700+ items a day and my pick rate is normally around 130%-170%, the key to shopping quickly is being observant for items, shopping quickly, and bagging quickly. I also pick a lot when I drop my cart and grab another in less than a minute, I’ve discovered you can waste a lot of time very easily in the back room. Also y’all need to get of your phone 😂, I have like 10+ coworkers who don’t pick more than 500 items and constantly take little breaks without their Team Lead or Coach knowing to message or talk with friends, some of y’all think you’re getting paid to hang loose with friends online and that’s not work efficient. That’s what the 2, 15 minute breaks and hour lunch break are for. Please comment for questions, I have been asked several times to step up in command at work but I don’t have the time and I still like to learn a lot for fun and like to help as much as possible with my boss.
Ambient is good cause it tends to be bigger, so once you get used to the locations, you can get a higher volume of items in less time, Chilled tends to be the same, And the reason frozen is fast is because you do the walk in a small area( and also dont have to mess with scales like produce and chilled ) A tip I have for my store now because we have Auto select commodity now and our managers spread out Oversize amongst us to keep it fair, If you know youre going to end up having 1 or 2 bad walks IE a general or an overzise that will reck your pick rate, Make sure you try to do your best on your strong walks or attempt to target your strong walks if you can( it can be hard cause auto select has a certain order per hour) but for me Ambient is my strong walk so i make sure to bust them out to offset the bad walks. The same strategy works for surveys in Pickup, If you plan for always having 1 or 2 bad surveys that are inevitable, The best way to fight it is by diluting it with good surveys, Ie having 50 good surveys in a day to offset 2 or 1 bads is much better than having 1 or 2 bads and only managing 10 good surveys, which would crush you.
@🎪 InvictaLand 🎪 when customers get an order dispensed they get an email receipt or an app notification that their order has been dispensed to them. On that screen it asks you to leave a review and includes a box for the name of the dispenser. The dispense surveys affect cstat of the entire store.
My dream is work in Walmart! I’m waiting to have my GC, my first job in here is gonna be in Walmart, I love to be there and I go at least 2 times in the week jajaja
Hi. Thank you for video. It’s so important for me, because I just got this job. And tomorrow will be my first training day in CBL. I am a little bit nervous, because of English. I am from Ukraine, and my English level is intermedia, which means I can communicate with American people.
Hey. I know that the answer to this question will probably differ depending on where you live, but what is the actual dress code for this specific position? I never..paid attention to what pickers I saw in store were wearing other than clothes (and jeans! YAY FOR JEANS!). I do know I saw some individuals that take the orders to customers vehicles - wearing t-shirts it looked like? Are t-shirts allowed or? Like ones with pictures or words? Also, do they care about hair style or hair color? I think I saw a gal at one of my local wal-marts had some bright pink hair, which I thought was really cool. But I know some jobs are like NOPE, natural hair color and no strange/odd hair cuts! (which mine would be considered "abnormal") Again, I know this probably depends on where you live and/or work, as some places don't enforce/care as much as others. Some Walmarts might be like "stick to this dress code or we'll fire you!" and then some might be like "Look, we don't care as long as you are wearing clothes, nothing offensive and be appropriate" or such.
Usually they like for you to wearing a basic shirt without any writing or logos on it and no hoodies. But it all depends on the management at your store. I’ve never seen anyone get in trouble for their hairstyle or color so I say just do whatever you want with your hair! Good luck on your new job, I hope you like it and thank you for watching Phoenix 💕
Amazing the way that America’s improves the picking hehe greetings from a picker from Mexico City and I want to ask u something what Walmart is best selling in the US?
They should send you to other locations to train people because my Walmart pickup and delivery department sucks people are sitting around 7 plus hours for their orders, it's always missing items, we're getting moldy expired food not to mention the meat eggs and milk are sitting outside for those 7 hours 🤢 and they never answer the phone then we have to fight with customer service for 3 days just to get a refund. It's a mess
@@dontbesurpriseditsjusme123 it's not a personal problem when they've already charged you, so go in and do what? Buy groceries you've already paid for? It sounds like you think you're entitled to make everyone do as you please, well that's not how the real world or Walmart works, so take your
Do you do all the calculations? Or what happens if the item they want isn’t there? Do you also change the prices or apply discounts or do you just worry about getting the items and delivering them?
Customers order online for delivery or pickup. If an item isn't in stock they will either get a replacement (similar item, possibly a generic brand) and get a digital receipt via email to my knowledge. I'm sorry it's been three months to get an answer.
@@breannasumner6207 it’s easy the management suck like they didn’t even train me smh me and this girl that started the same day we trained Eachother lol 😂
@@Student_NurseNi lol thanks for the reply 🤣 my Walmart managers are lowkey a mess too, I only went to orientation but it was so chaotic and unorganized
I don't even worry about how long it takes to help a customer while I'm in a walk; usually they just want to know what aisle an item is in and for the most part I can name things off the top of my head from sheer memory, and if not the Ask Sam feature in the me@walmart app helps because it shows exact item location. If a pick walk takes a noticeably longer amount of time because I was helping customers, I just let one of my leads know. If they don't believe me they can always check the cameras. Part of the job is assisting customers in the store, and the expectation is being able to do that while shopping for the online customers. If corporate can expect me to do two jobs at once, I can expect the grace of the time to be able to do it
I was a stocking team associate for Walmart in 2021. Then I quit my job and now I’m thinking of returning back to Walmart but the only position open is this one. So I wanna see how y’all do things before I take it
if you handled being a stocking associate well, OGP is cake. I've been a shopper for a little over a year and have helped cap1 at my store a little bit. OGP is much less heavy lifting but a bit more walking
We just got a raise to 16 but we also have a new supervisor who has been an asshole to us. Many people have switched from ogp and now to make matters worse..I heard that if we don’t get our pick rates up (more than 100) in the next few days we will get terminated or moved to a different department. Now mind you.. our pick rate for the store has been the worst ever since this dude has been hired. Sure our last coach wasn’t the best and he may have been annoying but we got shit done. Now it’s like nothing is enough for him and he has even threatened my job twice and has sent me home early for doing a nill pick and substituting those picks. I just pray that I can keep my job bc this is not a coincidence that he’s doing this when we just got a raise
@UCCenNI5YiT3a_5kBylxVEPQ well what I have been doing for the past couple of days is printing out the tote labels for the pick and then go get the items and scan them in when I’m done with the walk. It raises my rate but I only do it if the walk is more than 15 items doing small frozen pick walks helps too
Very interesting and well done. I'm not a personal shopper but I've used the online ordering/car pickup for about 2 years several times a week and overall I've been amazed at the accuracy of the shoppers. The one thing I've been frustrated with lately is dented cans. I've had this happen 4 or 5 times in the last few weeks. What is Walmart's policy on bent cans? I've always heard it can be risky healthwise. Thank you for the peek behind the scenes.
Hi cinnie2. I can help explain some info on dented cans that you say you are getting. 1st, dented cans should NOT be something you are receiving through on-line shopping at a store. Walmart online shoppers are to pick only the best choices, and that is NOT a dented can by any means. A small dent on the side or corner of the top or bottom will not affect the safety of the product. If the dent is on the seams - top, bottom, or side, consider the food to be generally unsafe. Again, shoppers are advised not to pick ANY can with ANY dents on them. If you're an on-line shopper and have been receiving dented cans, let the store know. Not all on-line shoppers are fully aware of ALL things! Like cans, no one is perfect.
The pickers are supposed to check the cans for dents and select cans in good shape for your order. However, if the only cans of an item left on the shelf have some minor dings in them, they might pick them for you just as you might do for yourself. Any cans with major dents in them shouldn't be on the shelves to begin with.
From someone who worked stocking Ta 1 for them. Walmart will try and sell damaged items no matter what. Long as the content is still in the package. A hole on the bag just put some tape on it. Oh some of content spilled? Just put a new top on the package and move the product to the front shelves.
Dude, if you’re so worried about it shop for yourself. Your food is not harmed by a dent, it’s just not aesthetically pleasing. Often times it’s that or nothing at all which also seems to piss people like you off. Can’t win
OGP associates work anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, depending on availability. 6 hours or more gets an hour unpaid lunch. The picks drop every hour from 6am to 6pm, and when picks are done depends on how long they take to be shopped. My store is usually done shopping for the day around 6:30-7:30pm, though on especially busy days it can take longer. As an associate you can stay until picks are done as long as you aren't getting overtime (OT must be approved), or you can clock out when your shift is done. Associates who work the closing shifts (1-10, 4-10 etc) aren't technically supposed to stay until all the orders go out, but it looks better on them if they do
I'm curious....if a shopper has a mixed order of cold stuff (ice cream, milk, ice, etc) along with regular temp items, are they seperated in two different totes? Also, what if they have a big order and there is no more room in one tote? The labeling and storing still confuses me....
Ok so there's different categories of picks and say one person will get the frozen part of a single order and another person will get the chilled items like dairy and meat and another will get "ambient" or grocery/ consumables items and another will get GM (general merchandise) and so on. So yeah it's in different totes because of that and stored in separate areas based on temperature requirements. If it's a large order then it's not a problem to make another tote.
Yes in the back there is dolleys with attachable hooks that are used when dispensing (each dolley is 2 totes wide and can be 5 totes tall for 10 per dolley. For room temp items (ambient) there’s 4 different sections by color and number - 5 if you count the front pickup room, deliveries one, pickups in another, oversized, and express. Then there’s coolers numbered and barcoded as well as freezers.
I went in for my interview today, was offered the job on the spot. They are going to have me taking out the orders to the cars to start off. Is that the hardest or easiest job of the 4 Position? Im nervous because its 110 on a good day here in vegas
@@phillip6844 still not in bro🤦🏾♂️...I moved on from them and just put in my background check for a job at the airport. Wanna bet the walmart bgc still doesnt come back before the new one 🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂
Dispensing is definitely the hardest part. A lot of times you’re expected to store the totes everywhere in the freezer, cooler, and on totes. You are expected to take the order out insanely fast and you deal may deal with ungrateful customers angry it took 12 minutes for their order. On the plus side, you socialize more with your team in the room, and many people get tips
Thank you Larisa, from Plymouth, MA Walmart #2336 for sharing some of the things we do to prepare and how we shop! It seems Walmart is ever changing as even your video on how to increase pick rates are no longer an option here! We have the Auto function. The computer picks the next walk ! I didn't see the picture of that trick you offered? I never knew that! I'd like to know more specifically how to do that. I mostly work exceptions, where the pick rate does not apply, but occasionally I'll jump into a pick walk. Forgive me. You said, "press the rectangular circle"? then "Swipe to the left." ??? Then to get back, one would "Click onto "Jiff ?" and then the time would restart.
shes talking close the gif app then open once you found the item I didnt know till I just watch this video I am trying it tomorrow and going to check my stats to be sure
When you say first time pick rate, do you mean the first time you pick at your very first shift like on your very first day? Or do you mean your first pick of the day (like for every shift u do)?
I'd say the only heavy thing I have had to lift so far is cases of water. One the oversized runs you may have to because it can range from a pad for a patio chair, to a mattress. If you feel you can't lift these things on your own you should always ask for help. Osha rules are anything over 50lb should have a partner anyway!
Hello, how do you get a high score for your first time pick rate [FTPR] because I am getting screwed over by team leads. My pick rate is an average 120 and my pick quantity is about 300. Please and thank you.
Get lucky with what pick walk you get. Pick rate is bullshit because it’s literally luck. You might get a 90 item ambient pick walk or you’ll get a 40 general
why does the Walmart application ask for social security number? That is something jobs ask for after you get hired. I am just worried since it's not a normal thing jobs ask for on an application. But I really would like to apply for shopper.
Im really considering this job. What is your favorite part of your job and what dont you like about it? Im a fast worker, i like to work at a fast rate as long as im accurate
First day training and i was buddied with someone and i really didn't like it . Especially the staging dispensing etc... the way you are being timed. There people in and out needing to go here and there. It's to closed in for me. I rather be on the floor.
Yes general and oversized were my least favorite. But a truck for oversized is going into the pick walk, looking at the list and finding all of the items. Exit back out and go into the same walk and quickly scan all of the items you’ve already found and it’ll make your pick rate higher. I hope this helps and thanks for watching 💕
I understand, it can be kind of slow early in the mornings. But I’m all for finding a job that you actually enjoy or maybe even switching positions in Walmart. Thank you so much for watching ☺️
did you work at delivery station too? I was getting paid 16 as well it was not itt, I recently got hired for this position at Walmart starting off at 17
I wish walmart never started this! Those personal shoppers are EVERYWHERE! Walmart is already freaking crowded and these personal shoppers with their big bulky carts are CONSTANTLY in the freaking way! I hate shopping at Walmart because of them
each tote is part of an order for a different customer, so we shop for 1-8 orders at a time. When you scan the correct item, the handheld then shows the order number, and you scan that sticker on the tote to make sure it's going into the correct tote
