1) I really am proud of you, Abir, for finishing school and finally starting your career. I've been so used to watching your videos it's like my mind made you a friend. It was a weird moment lol 2) Was space systems what you were mainly leaning towards while in college? (I'm still kind of new to the different fields of aerospace, but yea I'm curious)
I'm new to the channel. I have no interest in aerospace engineering, but I find your videos inspiring. Especially, the fact that you came from a different country which is a comfortable setting into the unknown. That alone is inspiring.
Congratulation to you! I subscribed your channel since the video about how you learn multiple language. I started my career as an engineer and your videos reminds me all the hard work and time an engineer had been went thru. Thanks for your high quality video which inspired me “again”. :-)
For the very first time got a sneak into what it's like to be working as an Aerospace Engineer. As usual loved the video Abir. You're doing great work.
I’m thinking of studying aerospace engineering since I also want to work on rockets/space vehicles stuff. Should I major in Aerospace or would it be better to major in mechanical or electrical with a focus in aerospace?
Just found your qna video where you explained this. 😂 You have been extremely helpful to me as I get ready for college stuff (I’m a junior in high school)
Great taste in music! Those are my go-to for life's background. I enjoy your vids because the energy is real and your personality is pleasantly unique. I'm back in school after a 7yr hiatus. Worried that my choice wont be my passion in the end. While you were on the grindstone did you ever have doubts of the career field you chose?
Thank you! I wasn't doubtful per se, but sometimes I wondered if I will be okay, usually during the weeks when I sleep an average of 3 hours per day lol I was a bit bored in the first 2 years of my undergrad because classes were still not really astronautics related, but once I started taking space systems, rocket propulsion etc.. I knew that's what I wanted to do :)
I have an injury that prevents me from walking too much. Is this an issue for a space systems engineer? I’m studying to be one already but I’m worried the injury will be an issue.
Erick Zamora not at all! Unless you’re a technician, you don’t really have to walk a lot. It is illegal for companies to decide not to hire someone because of a physical limitation! In my company, in non COVID times, most of the walking is done going from my desk to a meeting room (which you can call in to), to the clean room and to the bathroom lol I actually got on the treadmill every day because I didn’t walk enough lol so you’ll be fine!
Abir Aichi thank you very much for your reply. This eases my nerves a little. I should add that it prevents me from standing for too long also, but I will presume this isn’t an issue for the position as well? Thank you 🙏
What makes me sad about aerospace engineering is its job prospects, for a non US citizen like us.So I am turning my major towards computer science eventhough I always loved aircrafts, spacecrafts since my childhood.😑😑
hey Abiraichi, I am a Masters's student of Aerospace with a background in Mechanical Engineering, but now going to join one of the teams for the WARR Satellite projects. I am confused about what to choose, the Mechanical department, or the Systems Engineering Department. maybe you could help? I love working with mechanics but also see Systems engineering as something to enroll myself into. ughh...
I have just completed my bachelor in civil engineering. I am searching for an internship. Is there any possibilities to get an internship :) Help me out plz
Hey, I'm going to cgcc now and looking to transfer into aerospace engineering at asu. I was wondering how reasonable it would be to work a full time job and do the program at the same time. My current job has great tuition assistance programs but only has full time positions. Thank you!
Hello, nice to see achieving your dream. Can you please tell me that whether project management comes as a subject in Aerospace engineering because I am interested in becoming leader of particular project in Aerospace. And what skills should I master so that companies like Boeing will recruit me??... Thank you. By the way the video is superb :)
I think it depends on the university. At ASU, we had a class called Engineering Profession where we learned a little about engineering management. Unfortunately, that was about all the exposure we got. If you really want to study engineering management there's actually a major that's called engineering management, it's less engineering and more management though...
Can a non-US citizen receive the same opportunity as you did, to get a job offer in the space industry after obtaining a Master's degree in aerospace engineering? How did you get the offer?
It really depends on where you are. Optimally, you would want to get a US-citizenship as security clearance is a big thing when it comes to the Aerospace industry and Defense companies. There is other opportunities outside of the US like the ESA, or India's Aerospace Administration, or China's. The issue is the industries in these other places are much smaller and probably relegated to only government entities.
Danny Tjokrosetio unfortunately, most aerospace related companies require US citizenships. I am a US citizen so that was not an issue for me (which I got last year). I believe that some companies hire residents for non classified work. So if you have a green card, you can probably get a job in some companies 😊
Danny Tjokrosetio research is possible but a job would be virtually impossible in the space domain. Canada I believe is much easier to get permanent residence and you can work on space projects quicker
Are you the only girl worker there? I noticed a lot of guy co workers, I mean I knew more men were engineers but wow, didn't realize. But I'm glad your co workers are nice and you work well together. Also your job sounds so cool, working on a NASA satellite
mina siddiqui thank you! I’m glad you like the quality 😊 I guess it was worth spending that much on the camera haha Yes, the female to male ratio in my field is pretty low, but I don’t really mind it 😄
Dj Reda sorry i don’t have an Arabic keyboard on my phone so I’m gonna reply in English. If you don’t understand what I’m saying, please let me know. I unfortunately don’t know about the potentials of aerospace engineering in Morocco. If you really wanna pursue this, I’d recommend you do your research and see what available opportunities there are in Morocco. If you find nothing, then I recommend you study in Europe.
I'm not sure what you mean by "easy". It's a process and you have to fit the right circumstance to get citizenship. I'm using a Lenovo Yoga and it's been pretty good for me :)
I wish there were girls in my class while in college. Girls take class more seriously compared to boys. I was basically lead engineer in all projects and I hated it...
