This video is all about anesthesia cases from my quarter 5 simulation lab! My idea is to give you a patient scenario, discuss the anesthetic plan and medications, and what we would actually do in practice! Let me know if you like this kind of content, and if it is helpful for you!

I made a huge rookie mistake around **12:40 ish. When discussing Mac and Miller blades, I said Mac is straight and Miller is curved, and that is so wrong haha. Miller is a straight blade, and Mac is a curved blade. (facepalm)

With someone who has severe liver and kidney failure, nimbex is always a good option for paralytic. If you’re doing a procedure where the patient needs an ETT but requires nerve monitoring and they have renal failure with a higher potassium, lidocaine sprayed on the chords before inserting the tube is very helpful as well. Or you want to keep the patient breathing for induction with a difficult airway

Hey Kyle! I hope you’re doing well! Funny you mentioned that. I had a patient yesterday who was ESRD/dialysis, and we ended up doing Cisatra for relaxation. I’ve used the LTA kits before too, and they also seem to help on the reactive airways!

Absolutely loved this video please continue to do more. It’s very helpful in getting nurses like myself (interested in CRNA school) in the habit of thinking like a SRNA!

Great video man! I learned a lot! I really enjoy donating to the CRNA Foundation, since it was hard for me to go to college because of my cerebral palsy, I’m 33 from Memphis! I think it takes a special person to be a CRNA and you’re one of them, I’m one of them too! I really wanted to be a CRNA! You rock man! Could you do more videos like this? I really enjoyed it! Thanks

Just finished watching the whole video, WOW, THAT WAS EXCITING!! CRNA is definitely for me. I love the deep thinking that goes into planning for a case. Thanks so much for this and yes, please do more of these videos. I am preparing to take my NCLEX and I remember my teachers going over acetylcholine, muscarinic agonists etc. This helped refresh my memory. I hope and pray it goes well with you for your clinicals. Thanks again! I just hope when the time comes, I can get into a CRNA program. so competitive...

Ah thank you for watching! I'm glad you found it exciting. I think anesthesia is fascinating, especially the way physiology, pharmacology, anatomy, and anesthesia management all tie in and intertwine together. Best of luck on your NCLEX, and thanks for the well wishes! Stay in touch.

This video reminded me of some recent conversations I had with some high school buddies that I haven't seen in a while. I recently got into CRNA school and it of course came up in conversation when I saw them. All of these friends don't work in the healthcare field so I had to do my best at explaining what exactly I am going to school for and what I would be doing. I found it quite challenging to put into words of what a CRNA does and I had some reflection in that, while I obviously have some idea on what a CRNA does, I honestly don't know ANYTHING into the full scope of what an anesthesia provider does/knows. This video was like a second dose of that reality. To think that in roughly a years time that I will have even an ounce of the knowledge you shared in this video is a hard to believe. Please continue to share your journey, fantastic content and it is truly inspiring!

Great vid! I'm a new nurse, and due to crazy health circumstances (including a complicated airway which caused me to have an almost fatal laryngospasm in endoscopy) I've been out of work, but I get my surgery I need next week, so it's interesting to hear the steps CRNAs and Anesthesiologists take. Great vid!

Oh that is super interesting! I'm so sorry that happened to you tho. We were just learning how to manage laryngospasm in our simulation lab over the last few weeks.

Did going through ACNP first help you through the CRNA coursework? I only ask because I am applying to an ACNP school and should hopefully begin this fall, but have always dreamed of doing CRNA
