Hi Jeanie, I would love to set up a time to chat with you about becoming a travel agent. Last year I started my own social marketing business and I am planning on getting accredited and would love any advice!
Hi, I love travel & making itineraries for family and friends. I totally understand it's a lot of work but I enjoy it! You recommend the Travel Institute. Do you recall a specific certification? And how to you get into a travel agency after courses & before certification? Love all your videos that I've watched. Thank you!
You become a certified travel agent from the institute...they help guide you through the process. Highly recommend reaching out to them to learn more about what they offer.
I’m a soon to be Hospitality and Tourism major and I have been looking a ton into travel jobs! A travel agent is one of them, I’m hoping to get some traveling agent training somehow soon.
A family member of mine suggested I go to school to become a travel agent. Are there any suggestions you can give me? What questions do I need to ask myself? P.S. I have been working retail for 5+ years and E-commerce for 5 years.
Thanks so much! That's a great question... we are not sure exactly, but I would love to know too! The humane society we got him from didn't have any info on his breed. 🐱🐈 He makes for a perfect office assistant (or supervisor 😉)
The world of travel is so crazy during a Pandemic. I said, if I can make it through a Pandemic (it's been rough) I can make it through anything :) I recommend roadtrip this year! To many unknowns right now to really say what's going to be open and where airlines will be flying. Stay Safe & Stay Healthy!
I’ve looked into different career options but I think I’d like to be a travel agent because I’m obsessed and desperate to travel. I’m looking into an apprenticeship with a travel agency....do you think this is worth it? Or would my better option to be to go back to college x
thanks for finding this vedio.. i am started my bussiness as a travel agent while working as adh here in hk. im planning to work full time as a travel agent soon. i hope you can have some tips mam on how to do more advertisements about being travel agent. if have please let me know.. hehe. ill keep following your channel
I love how inspirational you and your husband are! I’m at a tight situation where I want to make traveling a part of my career but i seem to have a fear that one day I’d want to start a small family .. would this career be difficult when it comes to settling down or will it be able to work out further down the line ?
That's a great question! Honestly, it will come down to how often you want to travel. You don't have to travel at all if you don't want to, however, I feel like first-hand experience will help you learn more. I know many agents who have families and are agents. I think it would be harder to do if you were a flight attendant--since you would always be on the go. But an agent isn't required to travel--that is your personal choice and what works best for you! :)
@@JeanieMarie I’m very happy to have you respond and give an amazing answer! I’m glad ever since I found your video it pop’d a great way to look into this career!
@@JeanieMarie hi I'm thinking about becoming a travel advisor under a company but I have no experience is it possible & I see some jobs on indeed that offer training is it possible to learn?
If I’m having troubles with a TA - we are booking a destination wedding and some of our guest are saying she’s not getting them the best prices and she’s been rude - how do I handle that?! We already have a few that booked with her and worried it will get messy if we get a different TA. 🥺
I’ve been looking into how to become a travel agent and there’s a lot of conflicting information out there. What is the best certification for a beginner? Do you have a recommendation for where to get training?
@@JeanieMarie ehhhh I want that so bad. Going to see my boy today and might just mention it to him. Who knows. Curious what’s your take on evolution travel I’m about to sign up with them and thinking of asking creating click funnels to get more clients. I just want to hit all the countries by the time I’m 35, right now I’m 31. So I’ve got my work cut out for me
To be honest, being an agent during a pandemic has been extremely hard. Travel and tourism industry has been hit extremely hard, so not fun being an agent right now. Looking forward to the days of doing what I love again without all the stress of the pandemic.
I'm considering taking a position with an agency, I'm just curious, how long does it take to book one client's vacation plans, on average would you say? How many clients do you tend to work with at a time, at a time when you're neither excessively busy or just don't have many clients (average busy-ness)? The agency that wants to hire me looks to be well reviewed and fairly busy, so I'm just curious about what to expect on a daily basis from a typical agency.
Hi there by taking the courses at The Travel Institute did they also put you in contact with vendors ? I’m a flight attendant trying to become a travel agent as well
No, I dont recall them connecting us with vendors, but you can definitely ask them about it and they can point you in the right direction! Thanks for watching!
Yes I do have a website! However I only serve Minnesota clientele since that's where I'm based out of. No, I am an agent I don't offer any training our anything. :)
You need to get ur degree and then do a separate course from iata certified course institute to get ur certificate and then all u need is experience in different systems that connect to all airlines ..with maths and entries to learn each system has different entries for issuance ..date changes and refunds and many more ..so once u do that. .u need to get good experience to communicate with clients and blend in with the way they speak also sometimes that makes them comfortable to speak to u . And travel industry..u will have to keep learning or else u will be stale ..and it's hard to keep up . 👍 Best of luck . It's a great industry if u have patience
I really enjoyed this video, thank you! What did you study in school? I really want to start my own travel agency but I studied Business in college. If I go back to school, what would you suggest I study? Also where would you recommend getting certified and accredited?
Thanks for watching! You can get a Hospitallty and Tourism degree through colleges! I have an Administrative degree but then studied at the Travel Institute for my agency and then after that you can get IATA accredited. Thats how I personally did it.
Great video! Thanks for the info. :) Interested in this field. Have you traveled a lot personally? Would you recommend it for a travel agent? Also, do you deal with a lot of angry customers?
Greetings! That's a great question. I honestly don't really know of many options outside of the schooling I did at the Travel Institute. My apologizes...I'm not quite sure.
Hi! Thank you for all the info. Question, I signed up a while back with Cruise Brothers, didn't get certified and didn't really go far. I just recently applied to a job post to get certified as a cruise adviser....what is your take on that? And what advise would you give? Than you! I currently work from home now but want to embark on something that I am passionate about.
Hi Jeanine. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Could you please tell me how many years does it take to become a travel agent at a college? Also, if you are a travel agent, could you be an agent for a airline? For example, my travel agent is polish and so she gets discounts on LOT Polish airlines more than any other airline. Would you please explain to me how this works? Thanks, and sorry for all the questions!
It really can vary how long it takes you. You can get 2 and 4 year degrees if you do certain hospitality degree, there's some colleges that offer certificates and then if I remember right the Travel Institute is go at your own pace. Being an agent in the USA does not give you airline discounts, its a completely separate career from being a flight attendant. If you are a flight attendant then yes you would receive discounts from the airline you work for. Thanks for watching.
do you have tips? since I'm starting doing this job soon and I would like to give my best :) I'm also working with foreign languages, I need to make a vocabulary list. Any tips for what to write on the list? thanks :*
applied to a remote job thats also a travel advisor, however you have to pay $69.95 to start off and then monthly. dont know if its any good or if it would be worth it, its understandable because they give you vendors, free website, daily travel specials, free advertising, insurance thats over $100. what do you think i should do ?
I'm so sorry! 😔 Yea... its really tough right now. Agencies have cut back and/or closed. So sad what covid has done to the entire travel industry. Best wishes to you.
What are the best host agencies for somebody that's brand new to the industry? I don't even know what are the most credible courses for me to invest in. I've been researching like crazy. Could anybody offer me any guidance, tips, and advice? Open to any suggestions and your feedback's genuinely appreciated. Thank you for reading up to here. Much love to you & Take care of yourself!
I'm an Inteletravel Independent Agent...they're a great resource for credible vendors and education and there are no restrictions as to who or where you book with.
Hi jeanie ! Very nice content u provided . One question , is important to know ms office if u work as travel agent ? i have 0 skills on office programs !
