Very interesting video. I can't wait to see how your vet career progresses. My favorite thing about your vlog and so many others, is that they remind me there are wonderful people in the world living normal yet interesting lives. Makes the world seem like a better place, IMV. I love that you just never made your bed. :)
You are living my life’s dream. I knew I couldn’t do the hard math & science classes. It is what it is. It’s easier to get into medical school than veterinarian schools. Congratulations you are almost finished. Are you going to do large animals or are you planning to work in a mixed practice?
I always found black tea was the best for flies! Just make a bucket of it real strong, use it to sponge down the horses and let it dry - the flies just don’t bother with them. I dunno if Aussie flies are different but yeah haha!
i would really like it if you would talk about your experience in vet school as a whole when you graduate! for example, the pathways & the classes you took, how difficult it was, etc. you’re doing exactly what i’m thinking of doing and it would be a big help to hear some insider information on what it’s like! i’m a sophomore polisci major - i used to major in pre-med before switching and i’m thinking of switching (again) to veterinary sciences. 🦋
Very interesting video! Khal was flying😍 I'm in my first year of studying a veterinary nursing degree and I'm finding it hard to study when the weather's so nice and the ponies are literally just a stone's throw away haha. It's so tempting just to spend all day with them😂 good luck with your course!
Congratulations you have nearly finished your vet school Holly a great achievement the boys were great in schooling today thanks for sharing and stay safe and healthy 😎
Really interesting video - I was wondering how your studies were progressing. Zoom is another new normal for many of us! You are doing such an amazing job with your horses. So great to see how they are progressing. Looking forward to seeing them competing (& to seeing how your Dad's jumping skills are developing). Stay safe & stay well everyone.
The best compliment I can give you is you make jumping a course on Kahl look easy. Great rhythm, relaxed, nice position over the jumps etc. We all know how hard it is to get to that point. Great job and congratulations on your becoming a vet soon. I'm looking forward to having a graduation "party" in the comment section for you!
Wow, Khal looks and moves fantastically now. I love how much he stretches down as you ride him in the flat work. They're both such big handsome fellas; and while it's not surprising since she's their mom, they both look like masculine Fionas. So glad you're able to keep up your school work and will finish on time. I'm sure you can't wait.
@@HollyLenahanSJ I can only imagine, Holly. I'm in Canada, so I think the vet programs here are 3 years undergrad in science and then 4 years in vet medicine. Is that a similar timeline in Ireland? It is a long road of study; you will be Dr. H. Lenahan soon. I'm curious, if it is not too personal to ask, what shape are you planning for your large animal practice? Will you start your own business? Or maybe sign on with someone in your area for awhile, to get more practice under you belt? You have a lovely, quiet and confident way to you so I'm sure what ever you end up doing to your client's and their animals will appreciate you. Also, very good skill set for keeping your own horses too. Thanks.
This was a very pleasant way to have coffee and wake up. I gotta say I kinda like the whole leg warmer look :) I did notice that your poles could use a lick of paint or two :) just teasing....a very nice video
Your course sounds so awesome! Definitely full of hard work i can imagine for sure! I always wanted to do Veterinary and now I'm in 5th year and its kind of hit me that i'll never get the points unfortunately 🥺 You must be a born genius! Also love the wine glass while studying 😂
My auto captions had your boys names as Carol and Allie... lol! Khal barely looked like he had to try with those fences, he's just changed so much. Sky's the limit for him! 💗
Ahhhh Zoom lectures. Aren’t they fun, the only advantage is that I can teach in my pyjamas 🤷🏻♀️😅I really love your handwriting! But what was in your wine glass in the morning hihi. Khal and Dali look great, as always!
I have a few questions as an incoming first year. I am honestly so so terrified , I am worried that its going to be absolutely impossible, that its gonna be really really tough content, that I will have to be non stop studying and that I just wont manage. First I would like to ask how was your first year experience? Was it tough, how was the course content and how many hours on average per day would you spend studying and doing assignments, outside lectures and practical hours ? Also were you in university from 8am to 5pm everysingle day ? Do you think I would have enough time to go to the gym everyday ? How much time would you spend studying at the weekend ? Is the content super difficult to understand ? Can you give me all the tips that you can think of for time management, and being productive ?thanks so much
Is the saddle making that noise when you ride Khal because it doesnt fit him or is there another reason behind it? I saw you are probably selling Khal in the future, is that for Khal and Dali? Sorry if it seems nosy i was just wondering if your plan to be a high level jumper or if its the producing that you enjoy :)
I think the noise you’re talking about is actually air in his sheath, not the saddle! ☺️ And I want to jump him to a higher level but may sell him in the future when he gets there
Could you do a video about HLH Equestrian I notice that you have a lot of their clothing and I would love to see a review on their new show jackets !! 🤩🤞🏼
I probably wouldn’t do a whole video on them, but I think the fact that I wear their clothing all the time says it all! I adore their base layers and leggings and I’ve ordered one of the new show jackets, which I can’t wait to try on 😍
Have you used a shedding comb? I find they work really well at getting hair off, they look like they would be harsh to use but they actually have blunt ridges on them.
Holly Lenahan I have one which is an EquiGroomer, it works really well. I used to have a fluffy welsh pony that I would use it on, pulled out so much hair and he never had any problems with it being too harsh on him ☺️
Hey Holly I am a freshman college student and I want to be a veterinarian but I’m thinking about being an equine vet, do you think it’s better to become a vet and then go back to school to specialize in equine studies, or just go straight into a major specific to equine studies? Also love your vlogs!!
I’m not sure about wherever you live, but in Ireland and the UK, you study veterinary medicine and once you graduate, you’re qualified to do small animal, equine, farm animal, etc. You don’t do a second course to be an equine vet :)
Do you have any tips for how to revise for veterinary? I’m a first year and am used to revising through past papers / writing things out but obviously theres no past papers and there’s too much content to write everything out! Thanks :)
We did have past papers for first year, but I know what you mean, there’s way less structure compared to secondary school! Not sure how your lectures are laid out, but we get our powerpoints back to learn from so I mainly used those and my notes that I took during the lectures ☺️
Hey holly! Both of my horses suffer from sweetich and I have fly rugs and natural oils and creams to ease the scratching during these hot days! Just wondering if you have any tips or tricks you have with khal that might help❤️ I remember when you backed him... he has become an amazing horse you should be so proud!!❤️❤️
Holly Lenahan oh okay 😂I was just wondering because I have a 4yo atm and I was just wondering when’s the right time to shoe her because I see people shoe them as soon as they’ve started riding and others when they’re working a bit harder like jumping etc I guess it’s just down to the horse 😂thanks anyhow ☺️
@@HollyLenahanSJ Oh yeah, I'm in 5th year, picked biology and wanted to do (but didn't do) ag science. Didn't do chemistry- serious respect to anyone who actually understands it 😂 means I can't be a vet though sadly!
I am a 13 year old from Belfast N.I and i really want to be a vet then specialise in equine veterinary treatments and currently i am thinking about going to dublin. I never really liked the STEM subjects in school but i know this is something i really want to do, is dublin a good uni?
Do you need higher level maths to do veterinary in UCD? I’m currently doing it but I find I’m only studying maths and nothing else. I’ve tried to look it up but UCDs website isn’t working. Thanks 😊
Is it very difficult to be in vet school? I am graduating high school and want to be an equine veterinarian as well, but I am worried I won’t make it through all the schooling. How long is the entire school process?
I think getting in was the hardest part. It’s obviously hard work and there’s a lot of material to cover, but they’re really supportive and help you though it ☺️ and even if you fail, you can repeat the exam and if you fail again, you just repeat that module entirely, they’d never kick you out of the course!
No, my plan was to take the summer to ride the horses (even though that’s gone out the window now with coronavirus) so I’ll get a job at the end of the year :)
Can I ask what causes the air in Carl,s as he is trotting and cantering , I have been told it is due to nervousness , was hoping you are a vet nurse and could enlighten me on this as my horse has it and he is only a 4 yo ..
Holly Lenahan sorry the noise his tummy or sheikh is making when trotting and cantering you can hear it in the video . I got told by a dressage instructor it was due to nervousness ... hope that is easier to under stand
Oh it just means there’s air in his sheath, never heard it being related to nervousness and Khal is literally the most relaxed horse ever so I doubt it is in this case anyways ☺️and I’m actually a vet, not a vet nurse ☺️
Holly Lenahan thank you , I didn’t think it was right but nice to have the chance to speck to a vet about this .... thank you I love watching your videos 😉 I’m in Australia
Do you know how your online exams will work? Just curious how they will make it so people can't cheat if they're doing an exam at home on their own computer (not saying you would cheat obviously!)
@@HollyLenahanSJ the first time i ever did a written exam in hand, an essay, was at UCD 😶 i have never ever tried that before, so i can imagine UCD panicking right now with how many hand written exams they do each year in that horrible gym. 😭😭 who can write and English paper in hand for 2 hours on 3 different books without actually having the book in front of you? UCD is crazy man! Good luck om your exams though! Kick ass!!! 🤩🤩
I kinda get you about the graduation thing...I'm in ,6th class and we were supposed to be having a proper graduation like they do every year but itll probably be cancelled...I know it's not as important as yours but I'm still kinda sad🙁🙁🙁
I use the TRT method, you can sign up for classes on their website. I’m nowhere near experienced enough to teach it to other people, you’re better off learning from the man himself!
Hey!! I love this video thanks for sharing what you are up to during COVID-19! I just posted a new video on our youtube channel of what we are up to during the pandemic... if you want to see a 4* event rider show jump 1.50m in a ridiculous full body yellow hazmat suit head to our channel and check it out! We have officially gone crazy!!! Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
